Natsu’s POV

  “Mhm. So that’s why. You’re with two girls. Interesting.” This is what I hear from him the moment he finished listening to my nonsense story.

  “Father! It’s just a stupid project! Anyways, starting on Saturday, I’d come home... 5 PM.”

Happy, who was by my side and kept quiet the whole day, was having his own conversation with Carla and Wendy. To be honest, their topic seemed alien-like to me because all I could hear were “meows”.

  “Okay.” Dad shrugged as he spun the steering wheel to the right. “By the way, what did the two girls look like? Do you like the both of them?” He drank his coffee, smiling.

  “The first girl is a white, short haired girl with blue eyes... and the other one is a blond girl with brown eyes. The blond girl is Lucy and the white haired is Lisanna. Lucy visited us once, right? God, she despises me a lot and I have no idea with the reason.”

“Lucy Heartfilia and Lisanna Strauss, isn’t it? They went to see you on the hospital as well, remember?” Come to think of it, he’s right. Lucy told me she was my best friend. On the other hand, Lisanna told me she was my girlfriend. Girls are puzzling.

Either way, I don’t care.

  “Okay. Wendy, do well in your studies. Behave in the classroom.” I reminded her, grinning.

  “Natsu, I’m already 12 years old and a grade 6 student! You don’t need to remind me! In fact, I should be the one to remind you to study well because of your low grades on the previous school year. This is my last school year as an elementary student, so I’ll give it my all. I’m graduating from elementary. And you are too, in highschool.” Wendy over here has got a point. I’ll never be able to graduate if I’d still get low grades. I’ll do my best.

  Before I could even react though, “Oh, see you later!” she waved at me and went with a boy who I think is just in the same grade as her. And based on his ID, his name is Romeo Conbolt. Hm... interesting...

  “Cute!” I heard some girls giggle as I went to my locker to get my books for the day. They were staring at me, so I flashed them my toothy grin.

  “Tsk. Boastful.” A certain girl who hates my guts grumbled behind me. It’s Lucy again, now with her best friend Levy. I proceeded to ignore her.

  On my way, I noticed Gray chatting with a familiar blue haired girl. She had deep blue eyes, deeper than the color of the sea. Juvia Lockser is her name, someone told me.

  “Nah, I’m not into water around me.” I overheard Gray. And since there’s still time, I transformed into an eavesdropper. Poor Juvia, it’s very palpable that she likes Gray, and she’s a water mage, I heard, but Gray doesn’t like water around him.

  “Juvia is a water mage, Gray-sama.” So this girl speaks in third point of view. And she calls Gray ‘Gray-sama’ which sounds ridiculous.

  “Oh, I see... later.” The bell rang the same time Gray told Juvia that he was going. And because of my conscience, I walked towards Juvia who looked like someone made her cry.

  “Don’t worry, that man is just hot-headed, even if he’s an ice mage.”

  “No, Juvia is not crying because of that. She just thinks that Gray-sama is just acting like a cute little gal.” That was purely honest of her. Imagining Gray like that would make me go hysterical and puking on the toilet bowl.

Something hit me a moment later. I was late! A red head who looks like she’s the president trudged towards my direction. “Are you planning to cut classes? That is not allowed. Come with me to Mr. Makarov’s office. You’ll have a special project as your punishment there.” I had no choice but to follow her. Wait a minute. Project? Again? For Pete’s sake, I hate projects more than anything!

  “Sir Makarov, this one was planning to cut classes even if it’s against the rules.” I wasn’t! She’s barking at the wrong tree.

  “Sure, I’ll give him the punishment that he deserves.” He spoke in a way that had me shaking and Erza went outside the office, probably to take her classes. “Mr. Dragneel. I am utterly disappointed on your behavior. You’re a new student. Well as your punishment, just like in the rules, you’ll have a special project—”

  “Mr. Makarov, here’s the documents you wanted.” Lucy?

  “Oh, Lucy, I have a great news for you. I found your partner on your special project number 2. It’s Natsu.” Both our eyes widened in horror. I’d rather die than be her partner.

  “But sir I can do it on my—”

  “It’s okay.” Mr. Makarov reassured. “Anyways, is your paper there?” Lucy nodded. “Go get his paper, too.” The old man jabbed his index finger towards me.

  Lucy was about to say no but of course this was the principal; his decisions are completely absolute. “O...kay.”

  When she came back from what looked like a storage room, she handed a turquoise folder to Sir Makarov. “Are you two ready to know what your project is?” Why did I suddenly get the feeling of nervousness? I just nodded with Lucy. “First, you must get to know each other by... you,” Mr. Makarov faced me and pointed to my document I didn’t know I was holding, “give that folder to Lucy. And the same to you, Miss Heartfilia.” As we exchanged documents, we showed the feelings that were burning inside of us through our eyes: disgust.

  “Read it.”

  What the heck? I don’t want him to be my partner in any project! I hate him!

  “I guess you two are done reading the documents of each other. So the project is... to play or pretend parents to an orphanage. The project will be on Sunday. Don’t worry, just on Sunday. I know the previous project that was just given to you yesterday. You two are already excused. That’s all. You may now go.”

  I stood up, dumbfounded about what our project number two was. Parents? Then what, kids will call us Mommy and Daddy? No, that’s a nightmare. I then walked towards the door absentmindedly and bumped into Natsu. Oh, great.

  “Watch where you’re going, miss. I hope you’re not gushing about me being your pretend father.” He’s smirking! That smirk. I want to wipe it off of his face. I rolled my eyes at him and walked away. Is he not bothered by the fact we’re going to act parents even if it’s clear that I hate him?

  We walked in silence, me trailing just behind him a few feet away.

  “Oh, a couple walking inside the classroom at the same time?” Mr. Macao Conbolt asked when we entered the classroom quietly. All of the heads turned towards us. The girls did not mind me being with Natsu anymore and just watched the little scene.

  “No, sir, we’re from the Principal’s Office. We’re sorry we’re late.” Natsu excused and sat on his assigned seat. I bowed and went to sit next to Natsu as a saddening thought crossed my mind. I will see Natsu's face the whole day again.

  “I guess everything is cleared. You may now take your lunch.” Mr. Macao announced after twenty more minutes. I stood up quickly and walked towards Levy who was searching for something in her bag.

  “Levy, I’ve got to tell you something. Faster, please. Faster!” I commanded. She looked at me like I was crazy for a second. “What are you looking for?”

  “Finding a book to read, of course. Aha! Found ‘ya!” She beamed triumphantly at the book she held up like it was a golden trophy and started to read it while we were walking. I stared at her, deep inside super annoyed.

  “What were you gonna tell me?” She asked, looking up from the book.

  “I have 2 projects with Dragneel.” I said, the annoyance I suppresed earlier clear in my face. She just nodded and continued reading when...

  “Say what!?” she exclaimed in astonishment. Yes, astonishment ladies and gentlemen. “What are those two projects? You know it’s just the start of school right? So how come you already have a project?” Of course, being the best friend Levy is, she’s worried about me being with Natsu. But I know that this nerd is also super happy for me because yesterday she was babbling on about how Natsu and I fit perfectly together and we were destined to be together that’s why we met again.

  “Please don’t be a fangirl, alright? Mr. Wakaba Mine told us to stay yesterday after dismissal time so I wasn’t able to walk home with you. Then, he told us, me, Natsu and Lisanna—”

  “Lisanna?” I nodded and continued.

“And our project is to help build a school for children. It will start on Saturday, and after that Saturday, every weekend and every after dismissal we will help build the school. Well, except on Sunday. It’ll take 2 months to finish the project according to Sir Wakaba. The next project was just given to us awhile ago and Natsu and me... will have to act as parents on an orphanage. It’s on Sunday actually so I’ll be very bu—”

  “Oh... Lucy... the whole weekend with Natsu... and parents? Hoho, hi, Mrs. Dragneel.” I playfully punched her shoulder.

  “Levy, you know oh so well that I abominate Natsu.”

  “I know, Lu. I just can’t help but be glad for you!”

  “Glad? Why? Do I have to google the thing that is fun about this?”

  Levy shook her head and slung an arm around me. “You and Natsu will be together!” She cheered like there was a rainbow. If anybody heard that, I swear I’m gonna make Levy regret what she said.

  “Levy! It’s just a project. No need to get excited.” I reminded her.

  “I know. It’s just... you two look cute together.” There we go again.

  “Levy, quit it alright?” I plead, exasperated. She laughed on our way to the cafeteria. We ordered our food and sat on a vacant table.

  “Lucy, tomorrow you’ll try to record a song... with Sting Eucliffe.” I heard Virgo behind me. I nodded and she joined us in eating.

  I just wish for my patience to be long in the next few days.
