'Should I confess already?'

These four words are like the ending words of a race

a race to chase their crush ... 

a race filled with admiration, caring, thrill, jealousy, and ....... lots of blushing

admiration .... when the admirer can admire their crush without blinking .... for hours

caring ... always be there for them .... even if their crush doesn't know about their existence

Thrill ... of not getting caught that they have a massive crush on them

jealousy .... when their crush happens to hang out with any other than them 

This race is commonly famous among teenagers .... because that age group is innocent ...

age group of toddlers are innocent as in sense of mentally innocent ...... but age group of teenagers are innocent as in sense of emotionally innocent 

as other teenagers .... your nineteen-year-old emotionally innocent mind was also trapped with a crush on Kim Namjoon  

Kim Namjoon the hot heartthrob of Seoul National university of law...

It wasn't like those dramatic college romance movies ...where you bump into a handsome boy and instantly developed a crush

You first saw Namjoon .... when he was receiving an award for the best article of college magazine ....

you were amused with his philosophy skills and great thinking which led him to win that award 

"His skills are no joke ..." Jackson who was sitting beside you .... said in disbelief 

you looked over him and saw him reading Namjoon's article with amused eyes 

no doubt that article was eye-awakening.... this impressed you ...

You were not the type of girl who gets impressed with roses and red flag boys ...

your motive was easy and simple 

study hard .... and be successful 

you studied hard to get into this college and you were satisfied with yourself that you were able to take admission in your dream college 

Jackson and you .... took admission in the same university since you guys were introverted and had anxiety to interact with new people ...

Then why not take your best friend with you? it will be less awkward then

this how you two joined the same university 

When the sessions started Namjoon was not in your batch ... so first few months of your college went with lots of case studies and law quotations

but for some reason .... Namjoon was transferred in your batch after 4 months of freshman year 

Everyone in your batch was excited to meet Kim Namjoon because he was rumored to be the best student of college ....

he was already quite famous in college for his intelligence and looks 

it's a rare combination ... this is why people were more thrilled about him 

but all their excitement died when Namjoon joined your batch 

Namjoon always remained silent and well consisted when he was studying in your batch 

He never talked with anyone .... Namjoon was not introvert .... the word ambivert can classify him

His father was the head of the legal department in his college .... and you can imagine how awkward it is to study in the same college as your parents

Namjoon had friends .... well too many friends... All kinds of students were his friends ...but mostly it was badboys ... low rankers and athletes 

parents are always concerned with their child's studies

Namjoon was always a sincere kid and intelligence flowed in his genes ...

he aced his high school with top most ranks ...

but when he entered college ... his ranks dropped below the expectation of his father ...

his father understood this was all because of his friends

so, he transferred his son ... away from his 'friends ' and distractions 

Namjoon obeyed his father .... because he didn't want to anger him 

Namjoon was transferred to your batch .... he became the ace again

he started concentrating in his studies and maintained his first position for months

he didn't talk to anyone in that class ...... because they were practically strangers to him

the other batchmates also didn't bother him .... because when they do ...... they got a cold shoulder in return

it was his 4th month in that class and he still didn't know the name of his batchmates

it was not like he became a complete loner in those months .... He keeps in touch with his friends from the earlier section .... without his father's sight 

that was the reason he was able to survive in that class which was full of 'nerds' according to him

impact of compatibility .... due to the friends Namjoon had .... his mentality and his thinking were also becoming like them

he never considered himself a 'nerd' as he is a 'cool' student but...... everyone else other than him who studies was a nerd for him

twisted thinking ...... you know

Living a life without tough competition is like ...... eating food without salt ...

Namjoon met his toughest competition on the day when

"So... students .... your exam results are here..." their teacher announced .... He tried to sound suspicious but when he got boring looks from the students.... he cleared his throat

"This time it is someone unexpected ..."

"What ... is it not Kim Namjoon again?" a student asked impatiently

"This week is topped by Min Y/N!"

that was the day Kim Namjoon knew the first and only name of the one of his batchmates

he was shell shocked when he heard another name other than His

he watched you walking towards the professor with a victory smile

'Oh.... competition ' he scoffed mentally

ego is that one hell thing in humans.... which can make us do things which are categorized as stupid

as a sincere and an intelligent student .... Namjoon's unnecessary ego was hurt that day

he took that personally 

and he was so ready to play this game ... and he was determined enough to do anything to gain his position back ...

On the other hand, .... your life was already at the phase on which it was not supposed to ...

human have a different characteristic of being curious 

when Namjoon entered your class 4 months ago ... his personality made you curious for him 

his mysterious and taciturn attitude made you observe him for hours...

observing or in Jackson's words .... simping over Namjoon for over 4 months you can say that he has something different which makes you attract to him more ...

your innocent 19-year-old mind was experiencing these kinds of thing for the first time

in all these four months you just .... observed him

how he studies .... how he concentrates ...... how he mumbles when he reads books

every singles gesture done by his body was being observed by you

and you were not sure...... Why the hell are you not tired yet ...?

Why are you not tired of observing him ...?

What kind of feeling is that?

with lot of late-night overthinking sessions and hours of debate with Jackson wang ....

you finally understood what that feeling was ....

"You have a crush .... on Namjoon..." Jackson named that weird feeling for you

you have a crush on him ...

a long-distance crush ...but still a crush ...

and that weird feeling you were feeling ...... Jackson 'researched' and said they are called butterflies

butterflies .... whenever Namjoon glanced at you ...... even it was accidentally

butterflies .... whenever you passed by him and his cologne hits you

just like a normal teenage girl .... you got a crush ... 

4 months is the enough time to develop a crush

Jackson was the main supporter of you and your crush on Namjoon 

"Jackson .... he doesn't even glance at anyone other than his seat ...." you muttered sadly 

you wanted to get noticed by him .... so maybe ...... you could take your crush to another level ...?

"You should try impressing him ..." Jackson sat like he was an expert 

impress him? 

like that college romance.... glow up and shit?

"Shut up Jackson! .... and stop watching those romance movies!" you hit him on his shoulders with you book 

that day maybe Jackson was bullied for his idea by you .... buy you knew his advice was best

and you knew how to impress Namjoon ....

like said earlier it was nothing like those college romance cringe

you wanted to impress him in a different way ...

you studied 

yes, you studied ..... very hard 

because according to you ...... to impress the topper itself you need to be at his level first 

sleepless nights, early morning study sessions , and tons of coffee suddenly became your favorite partners 

and finally, you were able to grab rank one

it's not like you were dumb earlier .... You were a sincere kid .... just beating Namjoon's target scores became a challenge to you ...

you thinking was simple ...

 If you grab rank 1 then he will take notice of you then wants to be friends with you ...

"First be his friends ...... then be his wife .... "

Jackson shrugged like this was the easiest thing in the world

but how wrong you were ...... you created your own enemy ...

You were in an urgent need for a properly experienced Wingman .... because Jackson was terribly doing his job as wingman 

his advice and solutions were inexperienced .... now what do you expect from a single 19-year-old?

and then ...... your required wingman entered the chase 

surprisingly that wingman was very close to Namjoon itself ....

Guess who it was?

soohyuk sir, Namjoon's father 

he became your required wingman in your life 

You have always been his favorite student ......you can say ... he liked you more than his son ....in a way 

you were the one of the reasons why Soohyuk sir transferred his son in your batch 

because he wanted Namjoon's friend circle to be as intelligent as him not some spoiled brats

Mr. Kim knew transferring his son in your batch will change Namjoon  

and he was right 

he can see his grades getting better and better day by day 

he can also see his favorite student ... you ... working harder than usual 

he can see you staring and blushing over Namjoon during teaching lectures .... he understood that you have got a liking over his son

like a traditional Asian parent's mind 

his mind immediately went towards the pros and cons of.... what if you and Namjoon dated

You both were intelligent .... have same IQ ...and most importantly you both looked good together

and no doubt you guys will be successful in the future....... you were already his favorite ... 

Why not be a wingman and make it happen?!

he did exactly like this 

"Kim Namjoon and Min Y/N will be seat partners from now on ...." Mr. Kim announced and the whole class gasped 

that's it ...

it was like one time chance ......

to be close to your crush .... who would waste chances like this?

shocked was written on Namjoon's face when he heard his father .... 

just why?

he is partnering up with a girl? .... a girl!

it was shocking for him as strict his father to his studies 

when he asked his father about this new 'seating' plan his father shrugged and spoke

"Toppers can help each other more to enhance themselves"

Namjoon very well knew that this was not this only reason his father decided this ... but...he kept his mouth sealed and agreed to sit with you 

excitement ran in your veins when you heard you professor Hyuk's announcement 

Today he became your favoritest' professor in the world ...... if that's the word...

he has always been sweet to you...... Hyuk sir has a special mood for brilliant students .... he smiles, laughs, jokes with them....

and you can say .... You and Jackson were proudly one of his best students ...

2 weeks passed by as Namjoon was your new seating partner 

first week he was all ignoring and glancing coldly at you ...whenever you would try to talk to him 

but you didn't mind that and continued making small.... conversations with him

the second week the coldness in his eyes lessened but ..... it was replaced with irritation 

"What should I do dude?! that girl is continuously talking!" he exclaimed annoyingly to his one of the
'bad reputation friend ' 

Jake was his name 

"Ahh.... these chicks .... always lurking around beautiful men ..." he adjusted his hairs and sighed heavily

"But wait!" he opened his eyes suddenly and Namjoon looked at him curiously 

"You told me she was your competition right?" Namjoon nodded in agreement 

"Then why are not using her intelligence to crush her!"

for the moment if Namjoon would be believing in God ...... he would be on his knees Infront of Jake 

What a wonderful idea!

it was getting hard to break your perfect score .... and why not?

you were trying your best to impress him ...... not knowing Namjoon was taking this all negatively

then what?

during the third week of his and yours new 'seating arrangement' Namjoon suddenly started warming up to you 

he started up with answering you small conversations .... then it went to long and deep topic conversation 

at first his new attitude .... felt you weird

but at last, you were a teenager without any experience of these things ....

you ignored and enjoyed Namjoon being comfortable with you 

 Namjoon cunningly took the advantage of your kindness 

he talked to you like you are friends .... and in the excuse of taking and help or not understanding the topic

he made you do his work .... he knew you are a perfectionist ...

it will enhance his grades more .... his intelligence plus your perfection ....

and you .... like a silly teenager .... kept on helping him giving your hard work notes and gained intelligence 

He asked for your notes .... you gave him ....

he asked to do his work .... you did

you did all those things he asked you .... just because you liked him very much 

but you forgot who you were ...

and this was your biggest drawback ...

Namjoon took advantage of you ...... and you didn't even realize that ...

it was Friday .... when students were granted to leave early for home 

students were excitedly walking down the hallway because they got a half day 

Namjoon disappeared as soon the bell rang

 you stood up collecting your books .... and wander your eyes for Namjoon 

walking down the hallway your eyes were still finding Namjoon 

you just wanted to see him .... 

 your face was filled with smiles when you finally saw him ...

talking to a group of 'uncertain' people ......

you waved your hand high to get him attention 

but he didn't see you 

you walked over them and called for Namjoon 

"Namjoon !" 

"Yō ! who's this chick?" the man with lots of piercing asked Namjoon 

Namjoon glanced over you who was smiling to him 

"I Don't know ..."
