| CHAPTER 3 |

~ Seoul, South Korea ~

At 9:00 AM, the Kim household is gathered around the dining table, enjoying breakfast amidst light-hearted bickering.

The Kim family has a warm, lively atmosphere, where everyone speaks freely, and there are no rigid boundaries—quite the opposite of the Min family.

Mr. Kim Soo Hyuk, the father of two sons, lost his wife early on. Now, his sons are the light of his life. He used to be a professor at Seoul Law College but is now enjoying his retirement.

The eldest son, Kim Seokjin, has been married for three years to his wife, Jieun, and they're expecting their first child soon. Seokjin owns a successful dining chain in Seoul.

The younger son, Kim Namjoon, is a bachelor and a dedicated lawyer. Although he has a carefree personality, he's serious about his work. He's turned down nearly 20 potential partners, insisting he just wasn't feeling the right "vibe." His intuition is something he strongly trusts.

"Namjoon, come over here! Today's my favorite—walnut pancakes!" Mr. Kim called out excitedly.

"Yeah, yeah, Dad, congrats," Namjoon replied, clearly uninterested.

"How dare you talk like that? Get over here now!" Mr. Kim insisted, his tone firm.

"Good morning, Dad," Seokjin greeted as he entered the room hand in hand with his wife, Jieun, who was four months pregnant.

Mr. Kim turned his attention to Jieun, ignoring Seokjin's presence. "How are you, Jieun? This troublemaker isn't causing you too much trouble, is he?"

Seokjin pouted playfully. "Wow, no consideration for the child's father, huh?"

"Shut up and sit down. Jieun, come and sit with me today," Mr. Kim said with a smile, patting the chair next to him. Seokjin took the seat beside his wife.

"Thank you, Dad," Jieun said with a smile as she sat down.

Mr. Kim then turned his attention to Namjoon. "Yah, Kim Namjoon, why are you sleeping at the table?" He slapped Namjoon's head, causing him to jolt awake.

"Because someone was very noisy last night," Namjoon replied through gritted teeth, glaring at Seokjin, who choked on his juice. Jieun's face turned bright red.

"Brat," Seokjin muttered under his breath.

"D-Dad, I don't know what he's talking about," Seokjin stammered, trying to cover up.

"Oh, yeah? You were literally—" Namjoon started, but Mr. Kim cut him off.

"Alright, enough, kids," Mr. Kim said firmly, putting an end to the embarrassing conversation.

The clinking of utensils provided a background symphony for the table as Mr. Kim suddenly remembered something.

"Oh, right! Namjoon, Ja-Kyung Hyung called me yesterday. He said he needs your help with some legal work," Mr. Kim said, glancing at Namjoon, who was busy eating.

Kim Ja-Kyung, Soo-Hyun's older brother, was Namjoon and Seokjin's uncle. He was not a great uncle but he had a decent relation with his brother and Namjoon.

"I'll get back to him, Dad," Namjoon replied.

"Not again. I've got to go to work," Seokjin groaned.

Mr. Kim chuckled. "Haha, go work your tail off. Me and my beautiful daughter-in-law will enjoy ourselves at home," he teased, sticking his tongue out at Seokjin.

Both Namjoon and Seokjin groaned as they got up to head to work.

"Sometimes I wonder who the real kids are here," Namjoon muttered under his breath.

"Yah, yah, go to work, you brats," Mr. Kim called after them, taking Jieun's hand and heading out with her.

"Dad, at least spare my wife from your childish games!" Seokjin yelled back. Mr. Kim and Jieun both laughed heartily.

"Let's go, baby brother," Seokjin said, placing a hand on Namjoon's shoulder and dragging him out. As Namjoon left with Seokjin, one thought occupied his mind: why had his not-so-lovely uncle suddenly remembered him?
