| CHAPTER 24 |

Namjoon looked down at her sleeping face, the exhaustion evident in her delicate features. The faint scent of alcohol confirmed his suspicions—she must have had a drink or two, something she'd never done in the past.

She really had changed, a full 360 degrees from the bright, bubbly girl he once knew, whose innocent face used to light up with the simplest joys. But it was his mistake that stole that part of her away.

Namjoon's mind wandered back to those days, memories flooding in. He remembered her carefree laughter, the way her eyes sparkled with dreams, and how she'd always managed to make everyone around her feel at ease. He'd never met anyone so pure-hearted, someone who saw the good in everyone and everything. Yet he knew it was because of his own actions that she had built walls around herself, masking the softness he'd once adored.

He held her a little tighter, his chest heavy with regret.

"Hey, Namjoon," came the soft voice, and he inwardly sighed, not wanting another interruption.

"Yes..." he replied, managing a stiff smile.

"You... you forgot your pen back there," she murmured, cheeks flushing as she handed it over.

Namjoon remembered those moments when she'd find the smallest excuses just to come up and talk to him, her face lighting up with a shy blush every time. Her adorable, open expressions had always melted his heart—though back then, he could never bring himself to show it. Instead, he'd chosen to brush her off with an unnecessary coldness that he still regretted deeply.

Looking down at her now, resting so peacefully in his arms without a single worry, he felt an ache in his chest. She had softened, just a bit, letting him in for these brief moments, and he wished more than anything that he could freeze this in time. To just hold her, away from the stress and the past he'd complicated.

Namjoon adjusted her posture gently, taking in every detail of her face. Who knew when he'd get to see her this close again? He leaned down, letting his lips rest softly on her forehead for a quiet, lingering moment, as if to reassure himself. Gently, he tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

"How much I wish I could watch you sleep in my arms every night..." he murmured under his breath. "But... it's just not the right time."

He sighed, knowing he needed to get to her home so she could rest more comfortably. Today's hearing had clearly drained her, and she deserved peace.

Shifting carefully so as not to wake her, Namjoon reached into his back pocket, pulling out his phone. With a quick swipe, he dialed his assistant's number, determined to make sure she got the rest she needed.

[good evening, sir...>

<evening lee.... I need you to find the contact number of someone]

[uh sure sir who is it?>

<Min Yoongi CEO of Min corporates]

There was pause for a minute, Lee was trying to recollect what he heard

[uh...sir...I will send in some minutes >

<yes...send it as soon as possible it's urgent]

[sure, sir just give me a minute>

                                                                               <hmm...]

A few months back, Namjoon had come across her family photo in a prominent business magazine. That was how he recognized her brother—but now, he needed his contact information to get her home safely. He couldn't exactly ask her directly, not while she was peacefully asleep. And taking her to his own place... well, that would make for a complicated morning.

Assistant Lee:

sir this is the office desk number of Mr. Min, I managed to get this only......hope this will help

+016xxxxxx789

Namjoon sighed in relief, quickly typing back, "It'll be a big help... thank you, Lee!"

He immediately clicked on the number Lee had sent, his gaze shifting to her sleeping form nestled in his arms. She seemed so peaceful, and he couldn't help but feel a surge of protectiveness. This was his chance to ensure she was safely home, but he couldn't deny he wanted to keep her there just a bit longer.

The call connected, and after a beat, a familiar voice came through.

[yes...?>

'This is really Y/N's brother....'

<uh...evening sir...I'm Namjoon. A...nd]

[speak up, I got no free time>

<Ah, yes, sorry to call so late sir, this is Namjoon, Y/N's colleague. She's... well, she's fallen asleep, and I wanted to reach out so someone could come pick her up since she's completely out, and I'm having a hard time waking her]

[WHAT?! , WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY SISTER ?!>

<Pardon Mr. Min but I swear I haven't done anything .... she seems like she was drunk and now she is sleeping, and I don't know her address so that I can drop her off...that's why I called ...]

[STAY WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW...and if you do anything to her, I swear I'll skin you alive ...now send me the location>

<I....Yeah!]

Namjoon quickly checked his phone, heart pounding slightly. A message from Yoongi popped up:

+055xxx6777:
send me your location on this number

He let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding, then glanced down at Y/N, still peacefully asleep in his arms.

"Your brother's coming to get you," he murmured quietly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. Despite Yoongi's intimidating vibe, he was just relieved Y/N would be home soon.

Namjoon picked her up gently, knowing Yoongi would be there any moment if by chance he saw them like, he was sure he'll be dead. As he sat beside her on the bench, he felt the calm of the night settle around them. He leaned back, resting his head softly against hers, taking in this rare, stolen moment. Her breathing was steady, and he could feel her warmth against his side, a comforting contrast to the chilly evening air.

Brushing his thumb over her knuckles, he whispered, "I don't know when I'll get another chance like this, but... I'm here, for now."

'This feels so nice and warm'

after nearly 20 minute later his phone pinged again

Mr. Yoongi {BIL}*:

I'm here, where are you?

The soft hum of approaching footsteps broke the quiet, and Namjoon saw Yoongi striding toward them, his expression a mix of worry and protective resolve.

"Namjoon?" Yoongi's voice was softer now, his eyes relaxing as he took in his sister's sleeping form.

"Yes, sir," Namjoon replied, keeping his tone respectful.

Yoongi's expression softened further, and a faint smile appeared as he looked at his sister, wrapped in the serenity of sleep. "Thank you, Mr. Namjoon, for looking after her," he said, his voice filled with genuine gratitude.

Namjoon returned the smile. "It was no trouble, Mr. Min. Y/N and I were just catching up when she drifted off. She seemed a bit stressed... probably had a drink to unwind."

Yoongi nodded, understanding her long-standing dedication to her work. "Right. I'll take her from here." With care, Yoongi gathered her in his arms, pressing a comforting kiss to her forehead.

"Thank you once again, Mr. Namjoon," he said, offering a final nod of appreciation before heading away with his sister.

Namjoon watched them disappear into the night, a quiet realization settling over him. Today was the best day of my life... even if she'll never know, she felt safe enough to rest in my arms.

"Psst... Dad, do you know why Namjoon has been smiling like that for the past hour?" Seokjin whispered, glancing at his younger brother with a mix of curiosity and concern.

"I don't know, Jin... He's actually acting kind of weird," their father replied quietly, casting a sideways glance at Namjoon, who was now beaming with joy.

Seokjin turned to his wife, who wore the same puzzled expression. "Do you have any idea what's going on?"

Just then, Namjoon caught their eyes and grinned even wider, which only deepened their bewilderment.

Throughout dinner, the three of them exchanged cautious glances, trying to figure out what could possibly be making him so elated.

As soon as the meal wrapped up, Namjoon stood up with a bounce in his step, a spring in his demeanor that seemed almost contagious. He picked a flower from the vase on the table, holding it up to his nose with a dreamy smile.

"These new flowers are so fresh..." he said with childlike wonder, savoring the moment as he walked away to his room, whistling a cheerful tune.

Seokjin turned to his father and mother, raising an eyebrow. "This is definitely not normal behavior. Should we be worried or happy?"

Their father chuckled, shaking his head. "At this point, let's just enjoy the show."

"Dad, I'm 200% sure he's drunk," Seokjin insisted, crossing his arms and giving his father a knowing look.

"Shut up, Seokjin," his dad playfully scolded him with a chuckle before walking away, shaking his head as if to dismiss the idea entirely.

"At least you believe me, right, wifey?" Seokjin turned to Jieun, smirking as he sought her support.

Jieun scoffed playfully, shaking her head as she walked off. "You're the only one who thinks that."

"Hey... let me ask my child then," Seokjin insisted

"You're weird Jin-ie"
