Chapter Eighteen
'To hell?' You couldn't help but want to laugh or cry but it ended up being a bit of both.
The fact that your brother was here in front of you, ready to protect the three of you no matter the cost warmed your heart. His character has grown since he met Ava, just like mine did.
I hope she recognizes this and gives him a chance of forgiveness I believe he earned.
"Asch- you're alive?" Your father spoke in shock. You couldn't tell if his disbelief was forced or genuine. You turned your head, ignoring the pain, to analyze the look on Rhal's face.
He was smug, maybe your father was being genuine.
You scoffed to yourself. 'Who am I kidding? That man doesn't have a genuine bone in his body.'
Rhys, Noi, and Pierce soon joined your brother on the stage. Asch smiled wickedly towards the crowd and pointed towards his knights.
"I'm warning all of you, another rock and my knights will help me personally ensure you meet your demise."
You shivered at his words and Ava was terrified. You turned your head and saw Leif licking his lips, desperate to get in on the action. He was acting like the kill-crazed assassin the citizens of Daemos would expect from him, but you knew that he was just as relieved to see them as you were.
Your father growled in rage, confirming your suspicion that he was just acting early and lunged towards your brother. You were stunned into utter silence because not once has your father tried to do a single thing for himself.
You tried to scream out to your brother but no words would escape, you closed your eyes tightly and allowed the tears to stream out. You couldn't bare to watch your father behead your brother.
Instead of screams of horror, you heard the sound of swords clashing.
You looked up, full of curiosity, and saw Leif had held his sword against your father's. You looked back to his pole and wondered how he could've possibly escaped such tight binds. Your eyes were met with Rhys twirling Leif's chain around his hand. You couldn't help but smile.
"Keep your guard up prince! We haven't won this yet!" Leif called and the tears kept coming. You couldn't help but stare in awe at the male you loved. He trained to become an assassin, but here was a man of honor. A knight. You found yourself remembering a time when Leif told you he wasn't ever going to be deserving enough for such noble work.
Even with all that doubt he stored, here he was, braver than you thought he ever was before.
You felt your chains release from your body, and you turned to meet Noi. "I figured I owed you one Princess, since you've dedicated your life to saving others." He was smiling bashfully and you jumped up and hugged the male tightly.
"You're my hero Noi." You spoke but he shook his head and pushed you softly towards your green-eyed love.
"No, he is. Now go remind him why you're his." Noi smiled and you nodded with a bright smile on your face. You lit your fists in flames and approached your brother.
"Hey Rhal!" You called, rolling the R in his name as you approached him, "I think we have some catching up to do." You licked your lips maliciously and he couldn't help but smirk.
"How does a human lover expect to fight me?" He asked, but wasn't prepared or guarded for the fire-filled fist you slammed across his cheek.
"Like that." Your face was smug and you flicked your fingers and put out your flames, summoning a blade in your hand.
Rhal had been slammed against a tree behind him from the impact of your blow. He stood and wiped the blood off his face, his eyes were dark and you didn't let his livid expression shake you.
You teleported in front of him and slammed him back against the tree. He coughed harshly at the impact and before he got the chance to retaliate, you pressed your hand against the center of his chest to hold him still. You pressed your blade against the center of his neck.
You lit your hand in flames and he screamed as the fire burnt his skin. Before he got the chance to squirm you leaned in close to his ear, "Move and you die."
Rhal bit his lip and looked at you with the upmost amount of hatred. "Ava was shaking when she saw you last night," you spoke harshly, "Why was she so fucking scared Rhal? She's been around Daemos for many moon cycles! The hell did you do to her!?" You screamed and he looked you deep in the eyes with a growing smirk.
"I'm sure she'd love to tell you."
Your eyes were filled with rage and your removed your sword from his neck and stabbed him in the shoulder. He screamed and you stabbed his other. It was a continuous process of the boiling rage, his screams, and your stabs before you were pulled away from him and your vision cleared.
"Y/n!" The voice was loud and familiar. You could tell by the way the male was holding you, that it was Leif without a doubt.
"It's over Y/n! It's over starship, I promise. Breathe!" He was begging and my breathing slowed.
"What...do you mean it's over?" You asked with a shaky voice and he sighed, glad to have you returned from your rage.
"Asch...he killed your father. He's the knew king of Daemos."
With the news escaping his mouth your body got so worked up that your world went, black.
**
You woke up in a large familiar room. The bed was oddly comfortable, no where near as comfortable as your apartment bed. Where were you? You scrambled to sit up when you finally recognized the room.
It was your first and only ever bedroom on Daemos. The bed was the size of two Earth king beds and the covers and sheets were a violent purple.
You couldn't even believe you were seeing it again. Before you got the chance to search the room, you noticed Leif sitting on the window seat, staring out at the stormy night.
"Leif?" Your voice was a whisper. His head turned over to yours almost immediately.
"Oh, starship." His voice was desperate and he ran over to you, grabbed your face, and kissed you hard. His fingers ran through your hair, tugging softly through your tangled locks. You reached your arms up and placed a hand between his shoulder blades and the other on the back of his head.
The two of you stayed like this for what felt like an amazing eternity.
His lips parted from yours and he let his forehead piece together with yours as he stared into your eyes. His big, bright green eyes were sparkling ten times as much as they were the day he first laid eyes on you. You couldn't help but be overtook with so much joy.
"You scared the shit out of me Y/n." He spoke and I nodded.
"I know, you scared the shit out of me too."
Leif chuckled and sat on your bed and laid back. He pulled you down with him and you giggled as your head fell onto his chest.
"I can't believe he is king now." Leif spoke and you nodded softly.
"I forgot about that rule." You admitted. Some princess you were.
Leif laughed and nodded along with you. "Most people did. It was his advisor who announced it. I'm sure if people remembered your father would've died years ago."
You knew the thought of your father's death should disturb you, but it left you feeling oddly hopeful for the future.
"What about Rhal?" You asked.
"Thrown in the dungeon alongside Bitch." Leif replied simply.
You snorted, "I thought her name was Bish?" Your voice was questioning and Leif simply shrugged innocently.
"Bitch suits her better."
"Amen to that." You chuckled.
"I hope Asch does well by Daemos." You sighed as you stared at your large chandelier that was shining brightly overhead.
"He will. I almost forgot to tell you." Leif was sitting up now, and you followed suit. "We're returning to Earth to get your inventions. They're going to mass produce the ones you made and implement them in the streets. Asch plans to give out the rings you invented to everyone, free of charge."
Your eyes began to well with tears and you couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with joy. Your brother was making your wildest dreams come true.
