The Return to the Plasma Castle

The hour passes by quickly and we return to my house, shower, get dressed, change out my team of Pokémon, then leave to the underground castle.

We land in front of the cave that'll take us straight to the old castle, return our dragons, and enter. We walk to the ramp that leads down to the castle.

"I don't trust this ramp," I admit, placing my foot on it and see if it wiggles.

"It's safe. I promise," N says, taking my hand and pulling me out on to it. "See? Perfectly fine."

I look around the cave and the shape the castle is in. "This is gonna take a lot of work to fix."

"Just wait till we get inside," N comments.

"Is it bad?" I ask.

"It's not good."

We enter and debris is everywhere. Pillars lie in the way blocking paths and rooms. The floors have cracks as well as the walls and ceilings.

"Whoa... This place is a disaster..." I comment. "It may be better to just rebuild the whole thing than try to repair it."

"Perhaps, but this place is the real thing with all the memories of that fatal day when we clashed."

"The day you left..."

He sighs. "...Yeah, it is..."

We maneuver around the debris to reach the area where we fought. Truth vs Ideals. The waterfalls are gone too. On the way there, I stop in front of N's old room where he grew up. It didn't look like it took any damage from the outside. N realizes I've stopped and turns around to find me staring at the door.

"Oh, N..." I whisper, remembering the first time I saw that room.

"White?" N calls out and walks up next to me to stare at it too.

"I remember when I went in there all those years ago..."

"Yeah?"

"You wanna know what I thought once I saw it?"

"Shoot."

"I felt my heart strings get pulled. I was devastated. The room just felt... lonely. At that moment, I gave my heart to you and wanted to find you just so I could hug you. I wanted to tell you it was okay and I was there, but I couldn't because I needed to defeat you."

"White..."

I hug him before he says anything else. "I can give you that hug now." He returns the hug and we remain quiet for a long while before we release. "Let's go in, together."

He nods as we take hands and enter his room. The inside looks exactly the same as last time, except things are knocked over and it's dark.

"This place... was my entire world... As you know, when I was little, I was abandoned deep in the woods. The ones who took me in and raised me were the Pokémon who lived there. Then, one day, a man appeared before me, claiming to be my father. That... was Ghetsis. The things he gave me were... the name 'Harmonia'... the knowledge a King would need... Pokémon with their hearts shut so tightly I couldn't even talk to them... and this room... This is where I always was and wasn't really ever allowed out."

"I don't even want to imagine how you felt. So many bad memories are here, why would you wanna repair it?"

"Because even though the memories are bad there were some good. I want to make new memories in it, so they can replace them. I want to make good memories. Memories that include you," he says and turns to me, grabbing both of my hands and looking into my eyes. "That's my new dream."

"Then I'd be honored to help make your dream come true," I say with a smile. "We'll repair this place exactly as it was when I first stepped into it, maybe even better."

"We'll add on to it too, so we can be in the main building and the Plasma grunts can be in a separate section."

"I have a new dream too."

"And what's that?"

"To make you happy and help you fulfill your dream."

"I like that dream," he says.

"I'd hope so," I giggle. "Let's look at the rest of the building. How about where we battled?"

"Any place is better than hanging in this room," N says and we quickly leave the room.

We weave around pillars and rubble up to the next floor. I remember the first time when I was here that I was confronted by the Seven Sages minus Ghetsis. That's when the gym leaders took over and let me continue on. This was not the floor that I started on. I remember that the fourth floor was where N's bedroom was. That being said there's still more floors beneath us. This must be the only part of the castle not ruined or blocked completely off. This is really going to be a lot of work.

"N?"

"Yes?"

"Remember how the castle rose up from the ground and surrounded the gym league?"

"Of course."

"How did you do that?" I ask.

"A lever."

"Do you know where said lever is at?"

"I believe it was on the third floor. The one below this one," he answers.

"We need to get to it."

"Why?" he asks.

"To repair this place it'd be best if we could do it while it's on the surface. I think it'd make it easier."

"It's impossible to get there though," N says.

"Nothing is impossible."

We continue to the next floor to the throne room. Memories start flooding through my brain before I even realize it. I don't even realize N's talking till he waves his hand in front of my face.

"You okay?"

"Oh! Umm, yeah, just remembering the memories."

"Me too," he says and we look towards the entrance of the throne room. "Ladies first."

"Such a gentleman," I tease and we walk in together.

We stand back agape, taking all the memories in. I look at one place remember what it used to look like then compare it how it is now. The water from the sides is gone and the areas are filled with chunks of the ceiling. Light pours in from the holes in the roof. It just makes me want to cry.

"This is the place... Two years ago for the sake of Pokémon... For my ideal world... I put my beliefs on the line and battled you. And I lost... But you know what? I learned something important. I learned that in order to make the world better, I have to accept different ideas. I learned that that was the formula for changing the world. Accepting different ideas..." N says and turns to me to look me in the eyes. "And I wanted to say thank you showing me that."

"Then I'll say you're welcome," I say and hug him. Once again, we stay like that for a while in each other's embrace in silence. "How about we go find that lever?"

"Sounds like a plan."

We return to the previous floor and straight to the exit ramp.

"This ramp will have to go since the stairs are right below it," I explain. "Come on out everyone!"

Excadrill, Conkeldurr, Gothitelle, Reuniclus, and Lucario all exit, Reshiram being left to save space.

"You two as well," N says and tosses out two of his Pokémon, Politoad and Starmie. "They have the move psychic."

"Good. Gothitelle and Reuniclus use psychic to move the ramp then the debris out of the way so that we can get down to the next floor."

"Clus!"

"Gothi!"

"Use your psychic to help too," N commands.

"Poli!"

"Star!"

The stairs begin to clear, but some rocks get stuck and won't move past each other.

"Excadrill, Conkeldurr use rock smash. Lucario aura sphere."

"Exca!" Excadrill complies happily and folds his arms into a drill and begins drilling.

"Conk!" Conkeldurr huffs, smashing the rocks with his concrete pillars.

Lucario says nothing and does as told.

The debris quickly gets moved with all the help of our Pokémon.

"Gothitelle and Reuniclus begin mending the pillars back together as much as you can," I tell them and they comply.

"Hopefully the lever isn't damaged," N says.

"Yeah," I agree. "After we get the castle above ground, we'll contact the Elite Four and the Team Plasma members."

"Then hopefully we'll have this castle up and running," he says.

"Definitely."

"The path is clear," Lucario says.

"That was faster than I thought," N says.

"Great. Everyone continue to mend the debris back to its original condition. We need all the support we can get out of this castle."

The Pokémon nod. N and I disappear down the steps into the room he tells me where the lever is.

"Looks like it's blocked off," N says.

"Lucario, Reuniclus, come and help us!" I call out and the two come down immediately. "I need this room opened."

With the combination of their moves they clear it out steadily.

"It doesn't look like it got crushed," N says.

"Great. Let's get the rest of the pillars supported before we move it," I explain. "It hasn't moved in two and a half years, so it might be a little rusty."

"Agreed."

After we get as many pillars up and supported, we return to the lever room. N and I return all our Pokémon, except Lucario, and huddle up next to the lever. "Lucario, protect." He does so and surrounds the three of us with his force field. "Here goes nothing." After arranging for the castle to rise from the ground, no piercing the league with stairs again, I pull the lever. The ground rumbles and the ceiling shakes. Pieces of the ceiling begin cracking and falling, along with the walls and floor. I close my eyes, waiting for it to be all over. Finally, the castle stops shaking and everything freezes. After a few seconds, I tell Lucario to drop protect so we can look at the full damage. "Well, we survived. Glad that's over. It sounded like we need to replace the system that moves the castle. I could hear the creaking from here."

"We have a lot of work to do," Lucario says.

"Yeah, beginning with calling the Elite Four and the reformed members of Team Plasma," I say. "I'll call the Elite Four. N, can you get Rood, your sisters, and the rest here?"

"Certainly."

We whip out our xtransceivers and call our designated contacts. I select each of the Elite Four's names and dial them up. They answer after a few seconds, Grimsley first, then Marshal.

"So, you finally calling me about that date?" Grimsley asks.

I roll my eyes along with Marshal as Shauntal picks up. All that's left is Caitlin.

"Why do you always greet her with that?" Marshal asks.

"Because one day she might actually say yes," Grimsley says.

"Are you talking about how he always asks if she's calling about a date?" Shauntal asks.

"What else would we be talking about?" Marshal sighs.

"No, I'm not and it will never be about a date, Grimsley. Anyways, where is Caitlin?" I ask.

"Probs sleeping," Grimsley says.

Caitlin appears on the screen after that while rubbing her eyes. "Sorry, I was sleeping..."

"Of course you were..." I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose. "Anyways, you must of heard the loud noise from outside, unless you were Caitlin, that was the Team Plasma castle rising up. N and I are inside right now looking at the damage over the years and it's pretty damaged. It's going to take a lot of work to bring it back its original condition. I'd like you all to come here and see what we can do. There should be a staircase outside in the front of the league. See you in a few." I hang up and place my xtransceiver back in my bag.

"I don't like Grimsley," N says, once I turn to face him. "He's annoying."

I laugh. "Yeah, he is, but when you need him he'll be there. That's about the only positive thing about him. Well, he does have it in the looks department too, but I don't much care for that."

"Good," N says.

I chuckle. "Jealous?"

He pouts. "No..."

I smile. "Alrighty then. So, Rood and the others coming?"

"Yeah, they said they'll be here in an hour or less."

"Well, the Elite Four should be here any minute."

"Champion White?" a voice yells out.

"That sounds like Marshal. Lucario, can you go and bring them to us?"

"Yes, master," Lucario says and leaves to go to find them.

"Wow, this place looks horrible!" Grimsley yells.

"Grimsley's an idiot..." I sigh.

"I can't believe we're actually going to do this," N says.

"You better believe it because, this time, I'm going to make your dream come true. This time, I won't interfere and ruin it," I chuckle.

He laughs. "Yeah, this time, my dream is on the right side."

"And it's actually your dream, not one that you thought was." I look around the room. "This is just the beginning. We have to get new members and so many other things I can't even think of at this moment. We better get prepared for lots of work. We won't have many days off anymore."

"Then we should have as much fun as we can before it all ends."

"Together?" I ask.

"Of course."

"That sounds like a plan," I say, grinning.

"Rebuilding this place might take years," Marshal says, walking into the room. "You do know this, right?"

"Not if we don't slack. We could get this place up and running in a couple months," I reply.

"With this kind of damage it'd be better to just knock it all down and rebuild it," Grimsley says.

"Well, that's not an option," N says sternly.

"Yeah, this place has many memories. We can't just knock it down and rebuild it," I say. "It's an important piece of our memories that we don't want to leave behind. We want to keep and make new ones in the same place."

"Meaningful," Shauntal says.

"Exactly," N and I say.

"Then we're going to have to contact, builders, electricians, plumbers, and engineers," Shauntal says.

"The remaining Team Plasma members will be arriving soon and I'd like you four, along with them, to work together to get this place up and running. I'm putting you all in charge. Anything that needs changing or whatnot, you run by N and I first. That clear?" I say.

"Crystal..." Caitlin says.

"Rood and Marshal shall be the head of the operations," N says.

"Grimsley, I want you to watch over the league in case somebody comes to challenge it," I say.

He salutes. "Yes, ma'am!"

"Dork. Anyways, once we finally get this place up and running, N and I will cast for more members. Hopefully, we will get a lot of members wanting to join."

"I'll make flyers," Shauntal says.

"Cool," I say. "That settles that."

After about 30 minutes, Rood and everyone else shows up and we relay what we all already agreed upon.

"Wow, this place brings back many memories," Concordia and Anthea say. "Not all good, only a few."

"Well, N and White should be the bosses of this reformed Team Plasma. I'll be the assistant boss. Below me will be Anthea and Concordia," Rood says.

"I like that idea," the girls agree.

"The King will rein again, but this time he'll have a Queen," Shauntal says and writes that in her little book.

"Shauntal!" I quietly fuss with her.

"She's a Nite shipper too," the twins cheer quietly.

I sigh. "You guys are going to drive me mad one day..."

"I think we already have," Caitlin admits.

I roll my eyes. "I guess that's all for today. Marshal, you going to contact all the workers?"

"Yes, I will right when I get back to my room."

"Good. Rood and everyone else can stay in the Pokemon Center. The league will take care of any expenses needed. Shauntal, I need you to set up a donations drive, so we won't use all the league's money. Grimsley take care of the league. Caitlin, since I know you won't do anything anyways, sleep or whatever," I say.

"Sweet..." Caitlin sighs.

"We need to extend this place too. Once we get it up and running, we need a lot of room for Pokemon to reside in," N says.

"I always thought an elevator would be nice," Concordia says.

"The first part of the castle should be for business, the middle for Rood, White, my sisters, and I to live and work in, and the third part for the members," N says.

"Don't forget Jason, Roger, and Violet," I add.

"And any future children that come," the twins whisper to me suggestively.

My face heats up. "Again, only 18!" I whisper harshly to them.

They giggle. "One day..."

N and I having a family together... That seems like a big fairy tale.

"That's right," N says. "Along with the trio."

"They could help in commercials or something!" Anthea says.

"That's a good idea," Shauntal agrees. "Their cuteness could win people over to donate!"

"Roger does wanna be an actor," I say. "We can meet with them later and see if they wanna do that."

"Of course you two will have to be in it too," Concordia says. "Two known famous people should really bring in the donations."

"My famous is not in a good way," N says.

"I beg to differ," Caitlin says. "You're all the rant right now. N, you have a fanbase and a pretty large one at that. You are an attractive male and you even have some fanfictions."

"Fanfictions?" N questions.

"Don't even ask," Marshal says.

"Some can be good and some can be absolutely remorseful," Grimsley sighs. "Do you know how many stories are out there where they ship two male or female characters, who are not gay/lesbian, together? It sickens me!"

"Partly because you're in that category," Caitlin mutters.

"When White became the new Champion, she had many stories written about her shipped with the Elite Four or any of the gym leaders or an original character," Shauntal says.

"Now, all the ships are of N and White!" Caitlin exclaims.

"I think I've figured out what you do instead of sleep..." I mutter.

"What does ship mean?" N asks.

"Shipping, initially derived from the word relationship, is the desire by fans for two or more people, either real-life celebrities or fictional characters, to be in a relationship, romantic or otherwise," Shauntal explains.

I watch as N's face slowly turns rosy.

I sigh. "How'd this even become our topic?" I look at the time to see that it's getting late. "We should be getting home. It's getting late everyone."

"Well, look at the time," Rood says. "I guess we should be getting to the Center. We'll see you all later."

Rood and everyone else leaves. The Elite Four follows after.

"So, where should we go eat?" Lucario asks. "Because I'm starving."
