Winters Ball
"Okay," she smiled "You have my permission."
John began to grin brightly and cheered "Yes!", pulling her close to him and pressing his lips to hers, not being able to hold himself back from doing that any longer.
The hug lasted longer than she had intended to.
Alexander was already in the carriage that would take them to the military camp, he and Alessia already having said goodbye to each other. But John was something completely different.
It was obvious that neither of the two wanted to let go of the other. It's been a few more weeks since they started courting and now that the dreading day of departure has arrived, neither of them wanted to leave the other.
Alessia would take care of Johns house in the time that he'd be gone. She didn't want to think of the possibility to be left alone. Or that maybe only one of the two returned to her.
"You should go..." Alessia finally mumbled, even though she didn't plan on letting go of him. She heard John hum in agreement, but he didn't move as well, so they just remained in this embrace.
Finally it was Alessia who brought herself to pull away. John smiled softly as he laid a hand on her cheek "I'll be back soon. And I'll bring that guy back with me," he nodded his head towards the carriage, that she knew that he meant Alexander.
Alessia chuckled softly and replied "Please do. I love you, John. Come back safe. And write me."
John smiled brightly and pressed a soft, yet loving kiss to her lips, before he said "I will. Whenever I have the chance to. I love you, too." They shared one last kiss, before he finally forced himself to get into the carriage, as they sadly didn't have all day.
Alessia smiled and waved as she watched John and Alexander depart. She watched them ride away until they were out of sight, before she stepped back into her new home. It'd be lonely.
December 27th, 1779
My dearest and most beloved Alessia,
I can't wait to go home. All these years now without you are tearing me apart. I miss you dearly, my love. Alexander hit me just yesterday because I had complained of missing you.
He misses you too. He doesn't have much time to write to you, as he's been busy working as General Washingtons right hand man. But he told me to give you his regards.
I can't wait to come home. Hopefully this is all over soon. I apologize that I also didn't have much time to write you before. But believe me, it's been hard out here.
Also, congratulations on the publication of your latest essays against slavery. I've received a copy by a friend who has his connections and I must say, your writing gets better and better with every passing moment.
My love, I cannot wait to see you again. Not much longer, I hope.
I love you.
Your most humble and obedient servant,
J. Laurens
Alessia smiled as she received yet another letter. It's been a week now since that letter was sent and she was currently preparing for a ball that was being hosted nearby. She had received an invitation addressed to the 'Laurens household' and since John wasn't there, she would go in his stead.
It felt wrong to be going to a ball and enjoying herself while her brother and John were off fighting in the war. Well, she couldn't do anything against it now. Of course, she could choose to stay home, but she decided to go, as she'd isolated herself quite a bit ever since the two people she loved most had left to go to war.
The dark blue dress hugged Alessias curves perfectly, the corset was tied not too tight so she could still breathe— she was proud that she managed to accomplish this — and her auburn hair fell down to her waist in soft curls. She inherited those curls from her grandmother, as her mother used to say.
She made sure everything was fine before she then left the house. She had to admit that she was a little nervous as she stepped into the carriage that was awaiting her. She had never been to such a gigantic social event. But everyone's got a first time at something. She just wished that John would be there to join her, as well as Alexander.
When she arrived, she was astonished by the number of people present. She was also surprised at the amount of soldiers that were there, obviously recognizable by their blue coats. If only John or Alexander were under them.
Alessia spent the night talking with Elizabeth and Peggy Schuyler. They were unbelievably nice and pretty as well and the three of them got along almost instantly. They told her that they had another sister, Angelica, who was out on the dance floor.
The three of them were deep in a conversation, until Eliza suddenly paused in her words and froze.
"Eliza, is everything okay?", Alessia asked a little worried, confused by her sudden action. Eliza snapped out of it shortly, only to grab Peggy's and Alessias arms and turn them around, before pointing into a direction, across the ballroom. A group of men had just entered and Eliza had settled her gaze on one of them in particular.
Now it was Alessias turn to freeze. They were here. Alexander and John. She stood there, frozen like that for a few seconds, until she snapped out of it and started to make her way towards the group, first at a normal pace, but when she noticed John spot her, she couldn't help but pick up her pace and practically sprint towards them.
Alessia lunged into Johns arms, smiling brightly, while John wrapped his arms around her tightly and spun her around in the air, before he set her down and just continued to hold her close to him.
"You're here!", Alessia exclaimed happily, her voice cracking slightly as tears of joy were now rolling down her cheeks. John laughed softly "Yes I am, and in one piece I might add."
Alessia giggled and pulled away from the embrace so she could look at him. Her freckled god smiled brightly, but his smile faltered shortly as he saw her tears and he asked "Oh god, Alessia, is everything alright? Did I do something wrong?"
The older Hamilton sibling giggled and just kissed him lovingly to shut him up. John smiled a little into the kiss, taking her face in his hands and brushing her tears away. They were interrupted though by Alexander as he cleared his throat and said "Greeting her lover before she greets her brother, you should be ashamed Alessia!"
"Yeah, you should be ashamed!", Hercules stated as he and Lafayette then pulled the couple apart, so that Alessia could pay attention to Alexander now. Alessia giggled and wrapped her arms around her brother, saying "I'm glad you're back in one piece, both of you."
Alexander smiled as he hugged his sister tightly, before letting go at Johns face, who looked like a lost puppy as Alessia had been pulled from him so suddenly. "Take a look at him," Alex said, turning Alessia towards John so she could witness his reaction. Alessia laughed at that and said "Aww John, don't worry, I'll be right back with you."
Then she took Alexanders arm and turned in the direction of the Schuyler sisters, Angelica had now joined the duo. She started to make her way through the crowd, pulling her brother along. When they reached the Schuyler's, Peggy quickly retreated to give them some space.
"Eliza, Angelica, this is my brother Alexander," Alessia introduced with a smile, letting go of Alexander. Angelica looked just as love struck for Eliza for a moment, but quickly shook it off "Angelica Schuyler." She curtsied and Alexander took her hand, kissing the back of it "Alexander Hamilton."
Then he turned his attention to Eliza, who took a moment longer than Angelica to recover, before she said "Elizabeth Schuyler. It's a pleasure to meet you." She curtsied and Alexander took her hand as well, pressing a kiss to it.
"Thank you for all your services," Eliza said with a smile, a slight blush on her cheeks. "If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it will have been worth it," Alexander replied.
Angelica and Alessia looked at each other, sending the other a short nod, before Alessia said "We'll leave you to it." That said, the two of them left into opposite directions, leaving their younger siblings alone.
Alessia quickly found John and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly once more. "Since when are you playing matchmaker?", John asked, to which Alessia giggled and said "I'm just returning the favor."
