Anthony's POV
Yeah... just ignore that they were really drunk and should have hangovers because this is the next day. Also ignore that they spent the night at different people's houses.
November 2
I woke up early the next day and threw my hair in a messy bun. I snuck out of bed and quietly ran to the kitchen, not bothering to change first. One thought was running through my head.
Pancakes.
I had planned on waking Jas up with breakfast. As I opened the bag of chocolate chips, my fingers slipped and they fell, spilling the sweets all over the floor. Nala bolted to my feet, ready for a pre-breakfast snack that would end with her getting her stomach pumped.
I snatched her up just as she reached the first chip, letting out a small sigh of relief.
"No no no shh shh." I whispered as Nala began to bark, attempting to squirm from my grip.
And that's how Jas found me, standing shirtless in a pile of chocolate chips, shushing our squirming dog like she was a child, with my hands covered in pancake mix.
Jas cleared her throat and I finally looked up to see her standing in the entrance to our room, trying to hide a smile.
"You need help?" She asked.
"Please." I answered meekly. Jas giggled and jogged over to grab Nala.
"Aww my little baby what did Ant do to you?" She said to our dog in a voice reserved for toddlers.
"I was trying to do something nice for our anniversary." I mumbled, washing my hands. I laughed loudly as Jas set Nala in the kitchen sink.
"Thank you Ant." She whispered before pecking me on the cheek.
"No problem." I responded. Smirking slightly, I splashed some water at my girlfriend.
"Oh you're gonna regret that Ramos." She warned. I grinned and turned away, choosing to ignore her threat. I picked up some of chocolate chips and went to the trash can before getting a face full of bubbles.
I wiped the soap from my face and washed it from my eyes while Jas bent over laughing, almost letting Nala jump out of the sink. I caught her before she hit the ground.
I wrapped my one free arm around her neck and kissed her passionately, not pulling away until Nala barked at us.
"Oh don't worry. Mommy loves you too." Jas cooed taking her from me.
We finished cleaning the kitchen and Jas helped me make pancakes. By the time we finished eating, it was a little past noon.
"I have the rest of the day planned out so go get dressed." I said to Jas as I set our dishes in the sink.
"Okay!" She answered almost immediately, clearly excited. She jogged into our room and emerged five minutes later wearing ripped jeans, one of my sweatshirts, and some converse.
"Every. Single. Time." I said, walking up to her. "Every time we go out, you wear one of my sweatshirts." Jas smiled innocently.
"They're comfy." She defended, placing her hands on my bare chest and shoving me lightly. "Now go change."
I grinned and turned around to get dressed, deciding on a some jeans, a plain red shirt, and a pair of sneakers. I opened my dresser drawer and pulled out a small black box.
~~~~~
One week earlier
"Don't you think this is a little early in you're relationship?" Steph asked as we stepped into the ring shop. I glared at her.
"Listen I asked you to come with me to pick out a ring. Not for relationship advice."
"Well I'm just saying! You've only been together for a year and..."
"And I love her!" I interrupted. "I love her and I want to spend the rest of my life with her." We were both silent for a few minutes, browsing through the jewelry.
"This one." Steph said finally. I looked over her shoulder to see what she was pointing at.
"Perfect!"
~~~~~
I slipped the box into my back pocket and walked into the living room.
"Aren't you gonna wear a sweatshirt?" Jas asked when I returned.
"Nah." I responded.
"Ant! It's 35 degrees out!" (A/N Fahrenheit) She scolded, sounding weirdly similar to Renée.
"Exactly! Swimming weather!" I joked. Jas rolled her eyes and smiled, letting me drag her out of our apartment.
I huddled close to her as we walked. Jas must've noticed me shivering.
"I told you." She teased as a wind blew past us and my teeth began to chatter.
"I wasn't expecting it to be windy." I defended.
"Swimming weather!" She mocked.
"Shut up!" Jas grinned triumphantly.
We arrived at the Public and Jas shot me a confused look. I ignored it and pulled her to the entrance.
The sight of the empty theater filled us with happy memories. I lead Jas up to the stage. Taking a deep breath, I started.
"Jasmine Cephas Jones. I first saw you here. On stage at our first rehearsal of the musical that changed our lives. Hamilton has brought us both closer to our families." With those words Jasmine's parents and my mom stepped into the theater and took seats in the front row, followed by most of my extended family. Jas looked surprised, and slightly confused, but still blew a kiss at her parents and smiled and ma, Pheobe, and Steph.
"This musical got us many new friends." The cast and their families entered, lead by Pippa and Renée. Jas waved a little, still clearly confused. I grabbed her chin and turned her face toward me.
"Since the day I met you, I knew that you were going to be an important part of my life. Though I didn't know just how important. When I first kissed you, I felt at home. Life has thrown every possible challenge our way, but there is no one I would rather face those challenges with." Jas finally realized what was happening and her eyes welled with tears.
"I want to wake up next to you everyday for the rest of my life." I said. "So... my beautiful, loving girlfriend, Jasmine Cephas Jones." I got down on one knee and pulled out the box, opening it to reveal the ring. "Will you marry me?"
An hour passed before she answered. Well... it felt like an hour, though it was probably only a few seconds before Jas nodded.
I sprung up and hugged her tightly as cheers erupted from the crowd of loved ones gathered to watch. We separated from our hug and I wiped away Jas's tears before slipping the ring on her finger and pulling her into a deep kiss.
Laughter from our families caused us to split apart. When we did, we noticed most of the cast taking pictures.
"OTP!!" Thayne yelled, making everyone laugh. Some things never change. I kissed my new fiancé again and we ran off the stage to talk to our friends.
As Jas happily showed the ring off to Pippa and Renée, Lin came up to me.
"You made the right choice." He said. "You guys are perfect."
"Oh I know! No matter what life throws at us, we'll be together."
So I didn't edit this because it's been like 3 weeks since I updated and I wanted to get something out. Also I suck at romantic speeches, I'm sorry.
