Q and A/Reviews

These questions are from  Deeyah1

1) Where did you get your inspiration?

I really don't know, I've always wanted to write a Nigerian teen fic but I guess what pushed me was when I discovered Nigerian books on wattpad.
I just felt like so many other Nigerian authors are doing this, let me give it a shot.

I guess I've just always wanted to write a romance / tee fic novel. I'm a sucker for romance especially the ones were secondary school lovers fall in love and get married. I was scared to write at first because I didn't want to write cliche nonsense but I just took the decision one night like that (i think better at night) and I started writing and in that moment We Just Can't was born.

In the past I've written two non-Nigerian book which I took down because they weren't growing.
So when I published this book the progress I saw was mind blowing it made me want to write more and I also got a ton of heart warming messages.😁
I've gone off track, enough of this question.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

2) Why did you steal my boos pic. LOL

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You are not serious this girl, I don't know why we are always dragging boo. I'll keep my Levi and Rashford, you keep you Justin and Lingard. I think we're good👍🏽

3) at what age did you Start writing?
I started writing when I was eight✍🏽

I've always loved writing, It started in primary three when I suddenly fell in love with creative writing. I wrote poems first. I have a collection of poems which I might release on wattpad soon.
Then i started writing short stories and in church I started writing plays for dram and I guess my love for writing just kept on growing.

4) Is any chapter of the story from past experience?

No, although some chapters were inspired by some of my cousins past experiences.

5) where do you see your book in the next few years?

To be very honest with you, I see my book going  places in the next few years. Like my mum always tells me "Little drops of water will make and ocean one day".
That book started very small, the attention it got is still very surreal to me.

Review by temi_loluwa14

Title: the cover was perfect for the book. Cause the book is about how they can't be together because of her crazy family friend. Nice one on the title.

Cover: AMAZING cover. Love the fonts and the photo that was used. It was great.

Storyline: storyline was awesome, but why you gotta fly like that? 10 years?!

Character development: I love how you described all the characters especially Naomi.

Punctuation and Grammar: there were a few mistakes. But I wasn't able to spot much mistakes with your punctuation.

A / N Lol sorry about that i like time jumps. Thanks for the review will edit the book when I have the time.

1) What birthed the idea of writing We just Can't or what inspired you to write the book?

I really don't know what inspired me, I've always wanted to write a Nigerian teen fic but I guess what pushed me was when I discovered Nigerian books on wattpad.

2) Did you deal with critisms or should I call like lack of inspiration when writing (was there any time you felt like you were writing rubbish (like you get) and if yes, how did you deal with it?

Of course, every writer has to face critism once in a while. Some people were nice about it others not so much. I spoke to friends, people who I can rely on. Then I spoke to myself, i made myself to understand that I'm not perfect, I'm human so I'm prone to mistakes but I'm learning everyday. So I just push aside the haters and focus on people that correct me because they want to see me grow and I believe in myself.

On many occasions I felt like I was writing rubbish .... too many times sef. When I read other books, I'll feel like "Claudia your plot is nonsense your book sef is nonsense". Then I won't feel like writing again. I dealt with by praying most of the time. I'm a prayer person that's how I'm trained, I'm trained to tackle everything with prayer. I after I pray, I'll remind myself that I'm unique and creative in my own way.😊

3) How do you feel completing the book & your advice to other upcoming writers?

Honestly words can't describe how happy I am right now this is my FIRST completed book. The journey was amazing.🤩

My advice to upcoming writers. Hmmmmm, believe in yourself first of all.
Be original at all times don't try to write off somebody's idea.
Write what you can relate with.
Never give up.

4) What is your advice for other novice writers that are scared of starting their writing journey for fear of writing rubbish?

Don't rush yourself, everyone is writing doesn't mean that you should start writing. Take your time. no one is rushing you. Build your idea and when you are sure that you are ready to put your idea out there, go for it.
Don't let your fears hold you back.

5) Then about you, I've always wanted to know which class you were (would you answer that)

I'm in senior secondary school, I'm a small girl oooo🙈

And timilehin was nice enough to give me a review too ..... thanks!

We just can't is a nice book from a talented writer. The book is filled with plot twist, dark past, love interest & so much more. You'd love some characters at the same time dislike them.
I commend you for a job well-done. The fact that you could come up with all that & write it down makes you a winner in your way.

Good job dearie & I'm looking forward to more from you.

Questions from  gabzii_kee

1) What happened To Alexxxxx?

You see the thing is that I'm not a fan of telling your readers everything that happens, I feel sometimes they should be allowed to use their imagination.

In my own world of make believe Alex was imprisoned with hard labor. You are allowed to imagine any type of cruel punishment for him.

2) And ayoooooo my guyyyyy

In my world of make believe Ayo is happily living his best life and remains a loyal friend to Aaron and Naomi. He is not ready to get married to his girlfriend Mariam but one day it will be their turn.

Fact: There was actually a time I wanted to write a spinoff story for Ayo but I'm not so sure about it, I'll think about it later.🙃

3) So what was the best and worst part of writing the book?

Best part: Definitely finishing the book, I'm so happy right now.
Also making new friends, I met a lot of amazing people.

Worst part: Some nasty comments and reviews.

4) How did you decide on the path your chapters take?

Most of the time, I just follow my plot but sometimes I'll just get this inspiration then I'll start writing from there.

5) What would be your advice to someone who isn't confident enough to start a book?

Don't rush yourself, everyone is writing doesn't mean that you should start writing. Take your time. no one is rushing you. Build your idea and when you are sure that you are ready to put your idea out there, go for it.
Don't let your fears hold you back.

 6) What was the extra push to actually finish the book?

I guess seeing how close I was to actually completing my first book made me really excited and I just wanted to get it over with.

And this is her review:
I personally enjoyed this book. It was really enticing and appealing from start to finish, and each chapter left me wanting more.

The plot was well thought out and there was character development for most if not all of the main characters.
It was reader friendly where layout was concerned, the paragraphs were fairly sized so they weren't too long.
Though I'd recommend that there is room for improvement with the punctuation for dialogues, the other errors were minimal and almost nonexistent, so I'd say the grammar was good as well. Overall, definitely worth the read :)

Thanks sooooo much fro the review

Firstly, your book "we just can't" is a whole vibe, I loveeeeee it and i just can't get enough of it The storyline is awesome, love prevails over all things, came to realize that even if things ain't working out fine like expected, we all just need to be patience in all our dealings cause at the appointed time, things will work out...

So, the book is a wrap and the question I'll love to ask is/are What really inspired your writing cause me ooo I write too but am a lazy writer, I can't imagine me writing and stopping half way ?

I really don't know what inspired me, I've always wanted to write a Nigerian teen fic but I guess what pushed me was when I discovered Nigerian books on wattpad.

I just felt like so many other Nigerian authors are doing this, let me give it a shot.

I guess I've just always wanted to write a romance / tee fic novel. I'm a sucker for romance especially the ones were secondary school lovers fall in love and get married.  Also, people gets inspiration from different sources, like when you as this one, answers will be like when I listen to music, boom inspiration comes, so yours is from where???

Movies, romcom movies
Music for sure
Prayer. Prayer does a lot of thins for me

About Aaron and Naomi, do you think that can actually happen in real life cause you know the kinda guys we have this days, they are just logger heads and also their friendship is a bomb, does that really apply to friedship of this century??? What we have about friendship is with benefits

Firstly that friends with benefits shit is disgusting.....personally I hate that stuff.

Anyhoo, I don't really know in this messed up world of ours there are still some guys that are like Aaron, a few of them but they still exist. Yeah their friendship is bomb.

Yes it does, some friendships these days are still as bomb as that, pm me.

So you writing, is it for fun or you gonna pursue it as a career??

Never really thought about that but for now it's just for fun.

This question might sound a little bit off but I'll just ask Are you a student? Secondary or Tertiary?? What school and department??

I'm a secondary school student (SS2)
