Naomi's P.O.V

I'm currently standing in line waiting for my turn so I can pay for what I bought. It's almost my turn and I feel like leaving the line so I can wait and talk to Aaron.

After we met, I left very awkwardly to go and pay for these things so let's just say the whole thing was a really weird scenario.

It's finally my turn and I'm bringing out my items from the shopping basket as slowly as possible and I can tell the cashier is getting annoyed.

"Madam, I don't have all day oo" The cahier says smacking her gum loudly.

I hiss inwardly and mumble an insincere apology.

"That will be 22,550 naira ma" she says with a bit of sass.

I hand her the ATM card and she does the needful and hands it back to me along with the bags full of what I bought.

I mumble a thank you as I collect the bags from her then I leave much to her happiness.

I locate where I parked my car and put the shopping bags in the backseat.

My tummy rumbles and that can only mean that I'm hungry which is weird because I ate not too long ago.

These day since I'm always home. I eat a lot and my body is so used to eating something every other hour.

I sight a suya spot not too far from me so I go over to get some and their service is fast so I'm back at my car in no time.

I'm sitting in my car stuffing my mouth with suya and my mind wanders back to when I bumped into Aaron.

I didn't see much but from what I saw he's still very handsome with the same nice smile and dreamy eyes. He's built now, it's very obvious his spends quality amount of time in the gym and he's appearance screamed wealth.

In his shopping trolley, I saw diapers and baby food. Could he be married now?

Eh God see everything that just passed through my hand.

I'm pulled out of my thoughts when someone knocks on my window.

I turn my head and faced with a smiling Aaron.

I forcefully swallow all the contents of suya that are presently in my mouth then I take a sip of water and get down.

"Hey" I say flashing a huge smile.

He returns the smile.

"So I'll cut the chase and say what I came here for" he says.

"Oh alright, what's up?" I ask.

"I wanted to know if you'd like to hang out for lunch" he says.

"Sure" I say trying my best to hide my excitement.

If only you knew. I'll do anything for you, by anything I mean anything as long as I'm capable of doing it and even if I wasn't, I'll try my best.

He let out a sigh of relief.

"I thought you were going to say no" he says with a smile.

I give him a funny look.

"Why would that even cross your mind?" I ask.

"I don't know maybe it's how you awkwardly walked away from me like I was some pyscho" he says with a shrug and I chuckle at that.

"I'd never turn down a chance to hang out with you" I say sincerely.

Aaron's P.O.V

I was seeing her again after so long, it felt surreal. Her beauty has not waned not one bit. Her voice is still melodious to my ears. Her smile can still brighten up any stormy day. Her aura still exuded confidence.

You don't know the courage it took me to walk up to her and ask her to have lunch with me.

I thought she would say no because the way she walked away from it seemed as if she wanted nothing to do with me.

I'm presently waiting for her at the parking lot of the restaurant where we're meant to have lunch.

She hasn't arrived yet she assured me that she knows the way after I explained it to her.

After some minutes, I see her walking towards me, elegance in every step.

"I thought you ditched me" I say as soon as she reaches where I'm standing.

"I took a wrong turn" she says curtly.

"Let's go then" I say walking towards the entrance and she just follows me quietly.

As soon as we walk in, I'm very aware of the number of people we have staring at us.

Heads turn in our direction and I'm not surprised, if I saw Naomi walked into a room I'd probably be staring at her like a fool.

Naomi and I look like the power couple, you know those perfect ones you see in the movies.

"Go get a seat, I'll order our meal" I say.

"But you don't know what I want" she says with an unsure look.

"I think I can make a good guess" I say.

"Alright" she says then she walks off.

I walk over to where you place your order. I wait in line for a little while but thanks to their fast service I place my order in no time.

When I get there she's going through her phone and she looks pretty engrossed in whatever it is she's reading.

I sit very quietly and place the food on the table with ease.

I ordered spaghetti Bolognese for myself and I got grilled fiche and chips for Naomi and mai tai cocktails for both of us.

I stare at her in wonder. I always felt that when I meet Naomi again she'll look sad, unhappy, gloomy, distressed or she'll look like she needs redemption.

Truth is she looks rather happy. Maybe not happy but she looks content.

"You're such a creep" she says breaking the silence.

I'm shocked by her statement.

"And why am I a creep?" I ask.

She puts down her phone and faces me.

"You just came and sat down here, staring at me without saying anything" she says.

So she caught me.

"I recall that's also how you were staring the first day we met" I say and she smiles shyly.

"The food is getting cold" she says collecting the fish and chips.

"How do you know if that's yours?" I ask taking my spaghetti.

"Because I know you know that I hate spaghetti" she says making a face.

I don't understand how anyone could hate spaghetti. It's my favourite food in the whole world.

"Do you still know the others?" she asks.

"Yeah but we're not so close again. Well apart from Bimbo and Ayo. I'm still very close to them" I say.

"Obviously, you'll kmow Bimbo she's your family but Ayo, I'm shocked" she says taking a sip of mia tia.

"Well Ayo is a more of a brother than a friend" I explain.

She just nods then there's silence.

"So how are you?" I ask in a serious tone.

She looks at me and the look on her face shows I caught her off guard. Other people will just respond with I'm fine.

Not Naomi, she knows that when I ask how are you I'm not looking for that dishonest answer that people use to cover up what's going on in their lives.

Someone could be sad, angry, depressed, feeling down, stressed tired or whatever but when you ask them how are you they'll respond with I'm fine.

I think that's one of the biggest lies told by humans.

"Honestly, I don't know I feel I'm just okay" she says with a smile.

The smile hits different. It isnt her usual smile that lights up my day. It's a sad kind of smile. A cover up type of smile.

I want to ask more but I can't probe deeper since it's our first time talking in ten years.

"You know, I never forgot you all these years" I say quietly but loud enough for her to hear.

I exhale loudly before I proceed to tell her tales she's better off without. I tell her about how the search for her started, how the burial went, the depression I suffered afterward and many other things I had locked inside of me.

When I'm done she has tears threatening to spill out of her eyes.

"I'm sorry" she says with a loud sniff.

"Don't be, there's nothing to be sorry about" I say sincerely with a genuine smile.

We eat our meals in an extremely comfortable silence.

"So what's on your mind?" she asks breaking the silence.

"Nothing actually" I lie.

I was thinking about her. Wondering if I still had a chance with her. I loved this girl and that wasn't changing anytime soon.

"How about this we both say what's on our minds at the same time" she says.

"Sure" I reply curtly.

"Three, two, one"

"Are you married?" We ask at the same time.

"Nope" we both say answering in unison.

Then we burst out laughing.

Praise God, she's still single.

It feels so good to hang out with her again. I hope we get to this again soon.

"Wanna ditch this place?" I ask getting bored.

"To where?" she asks excitement in her voice.

"The movies" I say and her eyes light up.

"Sure" she says getting up.

"If this is a dream, I pray never wake up"
