Naomi's P.OV

"You've been acting strange these days, is everything alright?" Ayo asks me.

Its closing time and all our friend have gone except Ayo, Aaron and I.

Aaron is in the art room with the dyeing and bleaching teacher while Ayo and I are outside talking.

"Yeah, I'm okay." I say giving him a small smile.

"Are you sure?" he asks and I can tell he doesn't believe me.

"Yup, I'm just tired"

"Don't worry midterm break is starting next week, so you can get all the sleep you need" he says smiling at me.

"Sure" I say avoiding eye contact.

I'm a very obvious liar when it comes to Ayo he reads me like an open book too bad I can't tell him what I'm going through.

I'll tell Aaron first before I tell the rest of our friendship circle

"How do you plan to spend your midterm?" Ayo asks.

"Three things. Food, movies and sleeping" I say and he laughs lightly.

"You will come back lazy and you will add weight"

"So will you. You're going to see your grandparents" I fire back.

"I can't wait" he gushes.

"You're going home" I say pointing at his car.

He wraps me in a warm hug."Bye Naomi"

"Bye"

"Tell Aaron he's driver is waiting for him" Ayo says as he walks away.

"Sure thing"

I bring out my phone and dial my mum's number and she picks up on first ring.

"Hello baby girl"

"Hey mum, Mr Kunle hasn't come to pick me yet"

"I forgot to tell you, Alex is picking you today" she replies.

What a brilliant way to ruin my afternoon.

"Oh. Please tell him to hurry up. I'm having a headache"

"Alright dear, I'll call him right now" she says then she hangs up.

I get up and go back inside the school building to see Aaron.

I open the art room door and scan for Aaron but he isnt here.

"Good afternoon sir, please where's Aaron?" I ask the dyeing and bleaching teacher.

"Good afternoon Naomi, he just left"

"Alright, thanks"

I go back outside and luckily for me I sight him.

"Aaron!"

"Hey" he says when I finally get to him.

"You seem to be going home late these days, I hope all is well" I say it's more of a question than a statement.

He just shrugs indifferently.

There's something different, he has a whole new aura. He isnt the same Aaron he was when I met him and his attitude towards me has definitely changed.

"I have something to tell you" I say.

"I also have something to tell you" he says.

Oh wow, I guess my afternoon is full of surprises.

"Oh alright, you go first"

"No it's fine, you can talk first" he says.

After some seconds of bickering he agrees to talk first.

"So what's up?" I ask.

"I don't want you to talk to me anymore" he answers flatly.

I'm taken aback by his words, I definitely wasn't expecting that.

"What do you mean?"

"Stay away from me, I don't care what you have to say. It seems all you can produce is lies and I don't want such a negative vibe around me. I know the truth about you now and I don't like people of your kind around me" he says and with that he walks away.

It takes me some seconds to digest the fact that he's walking away. "Aaron!"

He doesn't even spare me a glance. He gets in his car and the car speeds off.

I just stand there, what does he mean by people of my kind and what does he mean by I produce lies. What truth is he talking about?

Tears start falling from my eyes not because I'm sad but when I'm frustrated I cry. I am sad but at the moment I'm crying out of frustration.

I wipe my eyes, I turn around to walk away and I come face to chest with Alex.

"Time to go home dear" Alex says I look up at him.

I don't even answer him o just start walking off.

I locate his car and seat in the front seat, I sit there because if I don't he'll force me and I'll protest and we'll start a scene.

"You look like you've been crying" he says turning my chin so I can face him

"I've not been crying. Can you just drive?" I ask as tears threaten to spill from my eyes.

"I saw it all dear. See why you should be with me. I'd never make you sad" he says starting the car.

I don't say anything I just stare out the window.

"Stay away from Aaron, I don't want to see you anywhere close to him. He might not want to talk to you but knowing the type of person you are you'll keep approaching him"

"Yes I'll keep approaching him, let me see what you can do" I hiss.

"You are becoming very brave" he says laughing bitterly.

I don't say anything.

"I could just leak the real reason why you changed schools and I'll hurt your precious Aaron. You know what I can do" he says smirking.

My heart stooped at that statement.

"You wouldn't dare" I say in all seriousness.

"Except I will" he says.

Knowing Alex the way I do. He will.

"So what do you say baby, deal or no deal?" he asks.

As much as it hurts I have no choice than to agree with this bastard. "Deal"

I don't say anything to him all through the drive home.

We get home after about fifty minutes. I get out of the car as soon as he parks.

I run upstairs and into my room and I close the door with a loud bang. Today is Friday meaning I have a whole weekend to rest and I'm so grateful for that.

I peel off my clothes and go into the bathroom to take a shower. I love taking a bath after a long day, it never fails to calm my nerves.

I come out of the bathroom and put on a beige t-shirt dress that stops at mid-thigh.

I lie on my bed and pick up my phone.

I call a number that I didn't think I'd be calling in a long time.

She picks up on first ring.

"Hello" she says.

Semilore she still sounds the same.

"Hello, you know what I'm calling for" I say.

"The usual?" She asks.

"Yes, I want it tonight by 8pm" I say.

"No problem. Make sure my cash is ready by the time I get to your house" she says.

"Alright, I'll text you the address" I say then I hang up.

I text her the address and power off my phone.

Then I lay my head on my pillow and get some well-deserved sleep.

"It's time for dinner" Someone says from the other side of the door.

From the voice, I can tell its Ruth.

"I'm coming" I say getting up from my bed.

I put on my slippers and head downstairs for dinner.

When I get to the dining room, everyone is already seated.

"You are always so tired these days, is everything okay?" my mum asks as I sit.

"Yeah, I'm alright" I say giving her a smile.

We're eating while engaging in small talk until my dad clears his throat meaning he has something to say.

"Your mum and I will be travelling tomorrow" my dad says.

My heart stops at that statement this can only mean one thing, they're leaving Alex in charge but I can't be too sure.

"We'll be leaving Alex in charge" my mum says.

No such luck!

"Alex, my wife has told me a lot about you. Please take good care of all my children" my dad says.

"I will sir" Alex says.

If you see Alex, he looks absolutely innocent. Faces do deceive.

"I know you will, you are a very good person" my mum says.

After that announcement my dad made I couldn't eat my food anymore. I had lost my appetite and I was in a very sad mood.

After some time we finish up dinner and Moses and I made to wash plates.

"You look tired and you barely touched your food. Are you alright?" Moses asks me.

"Yeah, it's just midterm test stress" I say.

"Are you sure you're not pregnant?" Ruth asks me as she enters the kitchen.

"No!' I shout immediately.

"Nathan you sister is pregnant oo!" Ruth shouts.

He rushes into the kitchen immediately.

"Mummy will kill you" Nathan says.

"I'm not pregnant"

Moses appears beside me nearly giving me heart attack. "Better say it now"

"All of you are just mad" I say laughing then I go upstairs back to my room.

I'm sitting patiently on my bed waiting for Semilore, its 8:05 already.

My phone rings and the caller ID shows Semilore.

I don't pick up I just head outside.

I go outside the main gate and I see her standing there. She hasn't changed.

"Naomi, my good friend" she says smiling.

"Semi, how na?"

"I'm good, business is good. So where's my cash?" she asks.

I hand her the money, she counts it to make sure it's complete. When she's done she hands me the package.

"Thank you" I say.

"Remember use it wisely" she says then she walks off.

I go back into the house and I to my room as quietly as I can. I hide the package in my wardrobe behind all my clothes and I lock it with my key.

My antidote is here and no I'm not a drug addict. When Alex first started raping me I told a friend who fed me some bad information.

She said it is a phase and it'll pass and that for now I should use drugs.

So I started doing MDMA popularly known as molly or ecstasy. No I'm not addicted, I guess I just need a relief from everything going around me.

I lie down on my bed and close my eyes and I drift off to sleep.

We have a lot of teens out there turning to drugs for survival. It's very sad😪. So please create awareness about drug abuse as it is a very rampant problem in our society
