Three

"Maybe we should get back to the others? They'll be wondering where we are if they've woken up." Jin rummaged through his rucksack he'd stocked with various implements that were scattered to and fro that could help them in any way.
Jimin paced up and down in front of the fallen tree trunk that Jin perched on, head bowed and eyes wide.
"Jimin, we should go. We have enough to last a few days."
"What about Suga, Tae and Hoseok? We haven't found them yet!" Jimin didn't stop pacing. Jin was just as worried but someone had to act responsibly - panic would only cause more panic. Looking up to the sky, the oldest wondered where his missing friends could be. The forest was vast and could take months to search. Jin figured that it would be best to locate the crash and hopefully the others would be nearby.
The group must have got separated when the plane collided into the trees. Only a few metres away lay a track dug feet deep by the aircraft as it had slid across the forest after touching the ground stretching far out of site and further into the forest. Jin and Jimin had walked for what must have been an hour or two now along the gaping path in the forest in hope of finding at least one of the missing members; the others would be getting worried.
"Come on, Jimin. I promise we'll find them in the morning."
The sun had disappeared behind the forest's many trunks and the remaining light in the sky cast a sinister orange glow into the forest.
Jimin agreed with a nod, slung his bag over his shoulder and followed closely behind Jin.

"I wonder where those two have got to," Namjoon muttered to himself though loud enough for their maknae to hear.
Jungkook looked up from the fire he had lit after half an hour of struggling to find a way of setting it alight.
"Do you think they're hurt?" he asked the group's leader, concerned for the two who had gone to search for the missing members. Jungkook wished he had gone with them now, just so he knew where they were at this point in time.
"They'll be back soon. They might have found someone," Namjoon reassured the worrying Jungkook. The maknae could feel his stomach growl. Hopefully Jin and Jimin had found food. Right now, Jungkook would eat anything.
"I hope the three are okay... This forest is huge. They could be anywhere." Jungkook wanted to cry but he didn't want to let his hyung know he was suffering.
The fire crackled as the flames built up. The maknae threw little bits from the forest floor into it, trying to distract himself from his troubles. The forest was dark now but the flames offered a safe, warm feeling for the two.
"Do you think they've found the plane?" he asked Namjoon who was now sat quietly staring into the fire, no emotions on his face. Jungkook asked again but he still received no answer.
There was a loud rustle on the other side of their camp - probably an animal, not a big one by the sound of the noise. The sound startled Namjoon who sprung to his feet and spun around wielding the stick he was using to prod the fire.
"I don't think it's anything bad, hyung," Jungkook reassured. He lowered the stick and replaced himself on the dusty ground in front of the fire. His face returned to one of slightly uncomfortable contemplation.
"Hyung, why aren't you talk-"

Jimin could see the camp fire's light leaking around the trees in front. Jin was stumbling along a few metres ahead - they hadn't been talking on the way back.

The bags they carried were heavy and made loud clanking sounds when they walked, making them vulnerable against wild animals.
"Hyung, what if there's a bear?"
Jin stopped and looked at his younger friend.
"Then we run."
"Couldn't we fight it?" Jimin questioned.
"No. They're strong and we're not. Anyway, it won't come near camp because there's so many of us," Jin carried on walking. Jimin decided to shut up - maybe his questions were too immature.

As they neared camp they could clearly see the fire in between the trees. Jin stopped in his tracks.
"Come on, Jimin!" His hyung's tone was clearly unnerved. He began to run towards their base. Without even questioning Jin, he broke into a sprint. Now he could hear it - screaming.
Jimin saw the maknae fall backwards, a silhouette in the fire's light. There was another figure, not Namjoon, but a tall, slender man above Jungkook. It's arms were outstretched as if it were about to violently grasp him but it fell too, straight onto Jungkook, when it was bashed over the head by a panicked Namjoon. Jungkook screamed again when it collapsed into his lap. Jin grabbed a pan and hit it on the back of its skull; this seemed to stop it. Jimin paused, unable to comprehend what had just happened.

"Fuck!" the leader cursed and pulled the attacker's limp body off of the maknae, who lay paralysed with wide eyes. Namjoon collapsed on the ground opposite Jungkook and put his head between his knees, swearing under his unsteady breath.
"Jungkook!" Jimin had sprinted toward his friend and shook him by the shoulders.
"What the hell is it?" Jin pulled the body on its front but stumbled backward in the dust when he saw it.
Jimin approached cautiously, bracing himself for whatever Jin was so shocked by. He saw it too.

The mans face... it was hollowed out like a cave, revealing a gruesome red lining. Shards of the skull were visible but most was broken off, leaving the creature faceless. Its black hair was matted with dried blood. It was cold. The sight caused Jimin to stagger away and gag. He could taste his last meal in his mouth as his body convulsed. To the boys, Jungkook's assaulter was unidentifiable with the lack of his features.

"Where did it come from?" Jin questioned Namjoon as he clutched the maknae against his chest, rubbing his upper arm to comfort traumatised Jungkook. Their leader looked up from between his knees, eyes glazed, and gestured toward the west side of the makeshift camp. Jimin followed Namjoon and Jin's gaze off into the darkness. Beyond the first few fire lit trees nothing was visible.

The camp was silent, only broken by Jungkook's quiet, stuttering breaths.
