Four

It was here somewhere. Sydney knew her father kept all of his engineering equipment in the garage but she had never imagined it to be in this much of a state. He really couldn't tidy. Sighing to herself, she began to rummage through the heaps of unnameable car parts and wooden offcuts. A jack is what she'd need to free the boy's trapped legs.

It took her a matter of minutes to go through the final heap of metal and wood before she placed her hand on something solid and cold. She grasped the object and pulled it out - a jack, just what she wanted. The jack was heaved out of the pile and swung next to her legs as she began to run off toward the crash site. The Asian boy hadn't woken but he was alive and his breathing was consistent, however it was rather weak; she didn't want to leave him any longer.

Her pace through the forest was quick and steady as she manoeuvred around trees and stray branches. The sun was above the woods now, making the run hotter and causing her shirt to cling to her back. As Sydney approached the plane wreck, she heard noises, specifically yells and exclamations or pain. Was the boy awake? There were clearly two voices. Hopefully it wasn't causing unwanted attention. She climbed into the aircraft.

Sydney stood in the doorway of the deck, out of breath, wondering why the boy and the new member were so silent. At least the injured boy's moans had stopped. The newcomer stared at her with wide eyes - his jaw was moving up and down as if he was speaking but no words were leaving his mouth. He began to gesture with his hand at the other boy, waving it around hesitantly.

"Here... This will help," Sydney walked toward the seats that trapped the boy's legs without questioning the other.
"Er..." began the newcomer, "I got one off of him." The boy's English was fragmented and strongly accented but was easy enough to understand what he was trying to say. Sure enough, the chair closest to the injured's torso was snapped off of the floor and lay against the row behind.
The girl rushed over to the other chair and placed the jack beneath it in between the Korean's two legs.
"Thank god you're here!" Sydney turned to look at the other boy, "I can't get him out of this on my own." He nodded - hopefully he understood what she was saying.
"You want help?" He stuttered. He obviously hadn't translated what she had said.
"Yeah."
The injured boy looked at her wide eyed.
"Don't worry. This won't hurt," she began to wind the jack so it met the underside of the seat.
"So what's your name?" Sydney decided that it would be better to make conversation than to let the boy suffer quietly.
"Jung Hoseok," he grunted as the jack began to free his leg.
"And you're from Korea?" the girl continued to query Hoseok.
Hoseok let out a little yelp but nodded, swallowing hard.
"I am Taehyung. My name is Taehyung," the other one, who admittedly, Sydney had forgotten about, added.
"Nice to meet you two. I'm Sydney!"
The jack continued to force the seat upward. She kept leaning down to check if the plastic base was still trapping Hoseok's legs - it now has a few centimetres gap.
"Okay..." Sydney growled to herself as she thought of ways to get him out as painlessly as possible. "Taehyung?"
Taehyung looked at her with his wide eyes.
"Can you pull him out?"
He didn't seem to understand her. She moved away from the now supported chair and mimicked grabbing Hoseok under his arms and pointed to the empty floor space. With a small noise of agreement, Taehyung bent down and grasped under his friend's arms.
"Okay, go now," Sydney commanded and Taehyung did as he was instructed. She put up her hand telling him to slow down as Hoseok was pulled from his trap. He let out some moans and yelps as he was dragged across fractals of glass, cutting into him. His legs were in worse shape than she had previously thought as they were uncovered. Taehyung fell back, letting go of his friend as he collided with the floor and the side of a seat. He clutched his leg with a grimace on his face, his eyes meeting the girl's. He looked almost disappointed.

"Ah, thank-" Hoseok was interrupted by a groan of pain. Sydney silenced him and looked around.
"We need to be quiet." She looked at Taehyung and put her finger on her lips to help him understand. The boy on the floor had closed his eyes. He was still breathing - she wasn't surprised he was sleeping after that.
"Why?" Taehyung spoke, looking the girl directly in the eyes. She found it hard to meet his in return.
"There are dangerous people. People who can't think for themselves. They try to harm others."
She wasn't sure if he was getting anything she was talking about but he didn't question her. Remembering the bag she had with her, the girl reached inside and revealed a tin of petite boiled carrots and threw it at Taehyung who caught it with surprise. He peeled off the lid and began to eat, rather ravenously which made Sydney chuckle to herself.
"You're welcome!"
