Swollen lips

(Rhea)

As I opened the door, Laila was standing with her right leg, and the left leg was in the air while resting her hands on the door's rim. "Lai!! You're finally here!" I leaped over her in joy and wrapped her into my hug that she lost her balance.

"GET OFF, IDIOT!"

We both fell on the corridor floor of our hostel while the thud reached to my warden's snake-ears.

"What is going on up there?!" Ms. Joana's shrill voice echoed from downstairs.

"We're just talking, warden." I and Laila said in unison, followed by laughing our arse off.

My stomach contracting and expanding in a second, we were giggling like cartoon characters.

"Hahaha!!" I looked at her face which was brighten than usual.

"What?" She said between the cackle.

"You look different!" Something had happened.

"You too." She retorted as if sensing that something had happened to me as well.

We were still on the floor, "I wanna tell you something."

"Me too." She pouted and yeh, my guess is right.

"Tell me!" I urged her that I don't want to be the first one among us to sound wretched.

"You tell me, first." Laila pointed to my face.

"No, it's a long story. You first."

Likewise, we kidnapped five minutes, lying on the floor until my next-door mate came out.

"Are you girls counting the number of tiles here?" Tracey locked her room, wiggling her mini skirt.

We both stared at her as she walked away downstairs. I looked at Laila after stopping the argument.

"I guess we need to get inside." She insisted and I held her back while she limped into our room.

"You broke up with Ethan!!? Hahahaha!" I let out all the laughter till my eyes were wet, punching the pillow next to me in reflex.

Rhea stared at me as if she lost her half soul and I am trying to buy the rest for cheap money.

"Seriously?" Her voice disappointed and cracked.

"Yessss!! Hahahaha!" I tried to shut my mouth with my palm but it went in vain.

"He's not Ethan!"

Her statement collided with my amnesia-mind.

"Oh! Sorry. Is it Lathan or Satan or what? I don't remember."

"He's Nathan. And we didn't broke up. I just cancelled the idea of date." She said like my English teacher.

"Whatever, you both are not together anymore. Lalala..." I sang a tune for her which she obviously didn't enjoy.

"Then?" I added.

"Then, I came here hitch-hiked by a car. Thankfully the driver was sweet!" She sighed, gradually falling on my lap.

"Was he hot?" I whispered.

"The driver was a she, you dumbo!" Rhea slapped her forehead and whined.

"Uh, okay, that was a mistake." I rested my back over the fat pillow, "You said you left your mobile in his mansion, right? How did you called me than?"

"I used the telephone, genius."

"Oh! Hey, I have Marcus' number shall we call him?"

"I am not gonna talk to that fellow at any cost." She pulled away her face.

"Okay let me talk to him." Said I dialling Marcus' number. "He thinks no one is there to bark back after mistreating my friend?"

*The number you're calling is currently switched off. Please try again later*

"He's a dick!"

Rhea giggled until she gave an idea, "He has my phone. Call my number instead."

I tried and someone attended the call.

I and Trevor were pulling dumbbells and almost done with our workout in my gym. As he hates his father, he seldom shows up in his own house.

Usually we'll be together. I also want someone to be with. He is a creep and I am... not a creep which goes well, I guess.

He was such a lame excuser who pretended sick and wore a face mask during workout. It didn't end up going well for me to see a guy working out wearing a fricking mask.

"What's up with your mask?" I turned off my treadmill and looked at him from tip to toe. He's so strange.

"My mask? That's a great way to stop spreading viruses, you know?"

"Don't be a sucker. Tell me the matter. Are you suffering from chronic disease which you've been hiding since childhood?"

His face changed like a new subject with no name.

"Tell me. Are you upset that I found it?"

"No, Macky. I am alright. I'm just-"

"Remove your mask." I ordered him. He's going nowhere.

"I said I'm-"

"Remove. Your. Mask."

"No, I won't."

What!

"It's not an option from me, Trevor. What are you hiding from me?" I tried to yank his stupid mask off, but he jerked backwards and never let it happen.

"I am not hiding anything. I want tablets right now." He coughed, almost real but was fake.

"Tablets for what?"

"For cold."

"You caught cold?"

"Maybe I'll be catching..." He demurely spoke as if I am a kindergarten kid.

"Son of bastard!!" I pounced over him and ripped off the mask after overcoming his blocking hand.

The cloth fell on the floor and I froze seeing his face.

"What the hell is that?" I shrieked like I am delivering a baby, pointing his lips.

Trevor groaned and rolled his eyes, "Don't make me say that!"

"What. Is. This!" I grabbed his jaw and pulled closer to take a look at his swollen-red lips. Which bitch did that?

"Marcus..." He twisted his face rapidly.

"Tell the truth, traitor!"

"I accidentally bit it."

"Blunt lie! It looked like someone else trapped your lip inside their teeth."

"Why are you so interested in this subject right now?"

"Do not divert the topic."

"What do you want to know?"

"What is the reason of the bruise."

"Don't say it as bruise..." He blushed to himself and I swear I can bear delivery pain than seeing it!

"It's Laila's art on me." He bit the same red spot again and grinned like a child.

"Stop doing that. You'll make it worse." I slapped his mouth.

"She... kissed me."

That's why you were red when you entered here!

I don't trust him. He would've forced her other than that, it's impossible.

"She...?"

"She kissed me, Marcus." He was damn serious. We were staring each other for an awkward moment of silence.

His cheeks strangely burn and his eyes couldn't stay still.

He's doing weird! What the heck?

Suddenly a music floated to our ears, 'Right now I'm shameless... Screaming my lungs out for ya. Not afraid to face it, I need you...'

"Will you stop singing in female voice." Trevor kept that annoying side alive.

He needs a slap, won't he?

I looked around and got a steel can to throw at him, "Will I sing ever like you?"

"Whatever! Laila kissed me." He giggled under his palm again.

I sighed the most exhausted one before leaving the gym and the music was coming from my bedroom!

Picking up the mobile under my bed cover, I saw a name.

Laila...

This is Cinder's phone, huh! I attended the call and spoke.

"Hello!"

"Say your hello some other time. Tell me, who do you think you really are, you rice cooker! How dare you treated my cousin like a filthy mat of the bathroom entrance?"

"Entrance?"

"At least, do you know whose mobile you're speaking?"

"You're not letting me to speak-"

"It's hers. Rhea's mobile."

"Who is Rhea?"

She slept with Trevor, didn't she? Did he poke her brain instead and push it out of her head?

"She is my cousin!" That girl didn't gave me a space, "And once when she reaches the college, it must be given back to her or else..."

"Or else?"

"Or else... Um..."

There was an awkward pause but the rumbling of sheets was audible from that side and I heard another female voice said, 'I didn't asked you to tell those things. What are you saying, Laila?'

That must be her cousin.

"Rhea..." I said to myself and tested her name's pronunciation in my lips.

"Shut up, I know what I'm speaking." Laila told her cousin.

"If you don't give her phone back, we would complaint about you in office."

I massaged my temples as the migraine was growing. One night I slept peacefully and it had set fire on everyone's asses?

Right time, Trevor entered while I dragged and gave him the mobile.

"Talk to Trevor, Laila." I stepped away from the hazardous call.

He can handle the crazy Annabelle, but I can't.

"Is she in call, for real?" Trevor looked excited like a boy ready to burn crackers.

I nodded desperately and stood. "Laila, is that you?" His usual pick-up line showers were missing.

(Laila)

"Fuck! He's talking to me!" I clasped Rhea's wrist in nervousness and spoke, "Hellow?"

No other words come out. He makes me kinda boil and I love bearing it.

Trevor's face burst into pieces of light and illumination. "What is she saying?" I asked though I don't care.

"She said 'Hello'!" He chuckle for no reason, admiring her every dimension. What a love sick puppy!

Is he really in love?

As I was in thoughts, they both flirted, chatted and stole all the charge left in Rhea's mobile.

Finally call declined.

"What is the conclusion."

"Rhea, needs her mobile. Laila says you need to give her back. Also she's not coming to college today." His gloomy voice urge me to break his jaw.

"Why is she not coming?" I acted as if I'm interested in the topic.

"She has sprained her left ankle, near to the heel where the buckle of the shoes would be..."

"Trevor, this is too much, buddy! Don't stir my anger. Go and get ready for practise."

I never thought he would go this far for her!

"Are you serious for her?" I ask him while we climb over our bikes.

He looked sincerely into me and spoke, "I love Laila, Macky. I love her. Not just love, I am crazy for her love back."

"She's fragile, don't break her." I said concerned for his partner and love life. He smiled to me and said, "Not in her case."
