After the Entrance Exam

Izuku Midoriya was healing. He was down on himself. He had gotten through the Entrance Exam, but didn't score a single point. The only thing that made him feel better was the fact that he had saved that nice girl from getting crushed to death.

But, he felt as if his own dreams of getting in to UA were crushed. There was no way they'd let him in with 0 points, even if he did have All Might in his corner. The fact that he hadn't heard from the #1 Hero only made things worse.

He's disappointed in me. Izuku was certain of that. He chose me as his successor, and I couldn't even pass the test. Not for the first time, Izuku started crying. He was glad his mother had gone out for groceries. He didn't want her to see him cry.

Izuku stayed that way for a few minutes, until his phone started ringing. He didn't need to look at the contact, as the ringtone gave it away. All Might was calling him. Probably to tell me how disappointed he is in me. Izuku sighed, deciding to get this over with.

"Hello?" he said, the sadness still present in his voice.

"Young Midoriya! Meet me at Dagobah Beach. I'd like to discuss something with you." Well, at least he wants to do it in person. Steeling his nerves, he swallowed.

"Yes, sir." Once he hung up, he wrote a note for his mother before heading out.

Not long after, he arrived at the beach. It didn't take him long to find the Pro Hero, as he was at their usual meet up spot. He was in his lanky form...and someone was with him. A shorter person, that Izuku could make out.

As Izuku got closer, he was able to get a better look at the person with All Might. He was an older gentleman, but he was wearing what appeared to be a yellow Hero costume. The two looked up as Izuku approached.

"Ah, there you are, Young Midoriya," he said, giving his successor a smile. Izuku returned the smile, though much weaker. This did not go unnoticed to either man. Before either could speak, Izuku began apologizing.

"I'm sorry, All Might," he said, the tears starting again. "I didn't score any points at the Entrance Exam. I'm not getting in to UA." He made sure to keep things fairly vague, as he didn't know who the other man was, and didn't spill anything about One for All. All Might sighed.

"I saw your performance," he said. "I must admit, I wish I had more time to prepare you for the power output of One for All." His words caused Izuku's eyes to widen. Then, he realized the older man must know about the power, for All Might to be okay discussing it in front of him. The older gentleman chuckled at Izuku's reaction, as well as to All Might's words. Before Izuku could respond, All Might continued.

"Normally, I wouldn't be allowed to discuss this with you, but an exception was made." There was a pause. "I'll be teaching at UA this year. That's why I was able to see your performance. Normally, you wouldn't pass with 0 combat points. However, there was another part of the test. Rescue points. Of which you received 60 for saving that girl against the 0 pointer. I gained permission from Principal Nezu to let you know you made it in."

Izuku couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had made it. He was going to UA. Again, tears began welling in his eyes, and he clenched his chest as he fell to his knees, akin to when All Might first told him he could be a Hero. He was brought out of the moment by All Might's voice.

"UA is going to be tough," he was saying. "It's not the top Hero school for no reason. That said, we're going to have to work on your control of One for All. You won't be able to one-and-done it when you get in to UA, especially with certain teachers you may have."

"Which is where I come in," the older man said, speaking for the first time. "I trained Toshinori-er, All Might here when he first received One for All. He wasn't sure how to approach training you how to use it, so he gave me a call. He's also going to be too busy prepping for the school year to be of any use to you." The man smiled ruefully.

"Yes," All Might responded. "Young Midoriya. I'd like you to meet my old school teacher, and one of the bearers of the secret of One for All. And now your teacher in learning how to use it. Meet...Gran Torino."

A/N: Hello, everyone. So, I hope you're ready for a new story. Don't worry all my UAIMS readers. I'll still be very much active on that story. This was just something that popped into my head. A little bit of an alternate telling with an OC. As far as this prologue went, it's to allow Izuku to have Full Cowling when the school year starts. Don't worry. That's not going to stop him from breaking his bones. Stay tuned, as we meet our OC (and our actual main character [sorry Izuku]), in Chapter One.
