Adrianna put on a smile as she opened the door, although she was anxious. She peered around the door's edge to see him standing there with a huge smile on his face, something Adrianna was relieved to see. She ushered him in, and shut the door behind him. Tom gave her a quick hug before he started to look around.
"So... this is where you live?" he asked.
"Yea, it's not much, but its home," Adrianna sighed, shrugging her shoulders. She motioned for Tom to follow her into the kitchen so she could check on dinner.
Adrianna opened the oven for a second to take a glance at the pizza cooking inside of it. Immediately she was hit with the teasing aroma coming from it. She was starving, and the smell wasn't helping her any. She quickly shut the oven, turning back to Tom.
"Is that the pizza?" he asked. When Adrianna nodded in response he replied, "It smells amazing!"
"Thanks!" Adrianna smiled. "It still has about ten minutes left on it. Want to see the rest of the house in the mean time?"
"Of course! Lead the way," he stated.
"Well, right now you're in the kitchen," Adrianna laughed, before stepping out the archway to her right, with Tom following close behind. "And now this is the dining room, not that we ever use it. Marisa and I usually sit in the living room."
After taking a few more steps, Adrianna stopped again at the end of the wall. "Over here is the living room. It's where we spend most of our time doing pretty much nothing."
"Can't say I blame you," Tom agreed. "It's really nice."
Adrianna smiled before she turned down the hallway. She stopped at the first room on the left. "And this is the bathroom!" she declared. "I figure it would probably be a good idea for you to know where it is."
Tom smiled. "Of course!"
She took a deep breath before she came to two rooms directly across from each other, one of which the door was shut. "And these are our bedrooms. Marisa's door is shut, and I figure it should probably stay that way, since I know her definition of clean and mine are completely different."
Tom chuckled. "She and Rupert really would be perfect together. He's the same way."
Adrianna smiled, and turned to the open door. When she stepped inside her room, she suddenly got super nervous. It had been a while since she had brought a guy into her room, and she had never had one in this room. She knew she didn't have a real reason to be nervous; she just was. Especially seeing as the first thing that her eyes went to was a huge movie poster of Draco Malfoy hanging at the head of her bed.
"And this is my room," she said quietly, feeling her face turn bright red. Her eyes wandered the room, looking at every detail, hoping she hadn't left anything else embarrassing out in the open.
She felt Tom wrap his arms around her waist, hugging her from behind as his head rested on her shoulder. "It's cute; I never thought you would have a purple room," he said. "By the way, I love the poster you got over there."
Adrianna felt her face go even redder, if that were even possible. "Thanks... he was always my favorite character. I remember everyone saying I was crazy! But I didn't care."
"Well, you are pretty crazy," Tom chuckled.
She was unsure if being crazy was a good thing or not. "I know," she eventually answered. "Ready for dinner?"
"Of course."
The two of them walked back to the kitchen, where the aroma of the pizza had taken over. As Adrianna removed the pizza from the stove, she swore she could feel him watching her every move. And for whatever reason, she felt completely at ease. Normally she would be freaking out, but she had finally relaxed now. She carefully carried the pizza out to the dining room table, sitting it down in the center of the round glass table. Adrianna glanced up to see Tom casually leaning against the wall, and she found herself staring at him for a moment. Once she realized it, she immediately glanced away from him, and took her seat. Tom took a seat across from her, tapping his fingers to the beat of whatever song that was playing quietly in the background. Adrianna smiled as she took a deep breath, anxious to get dinner over with.
*******
"So you say this is your mother's recipe?"
Adrianna nodded. "Mmhm. She used to make it all the time when I was younger. I remember the first time she made it I was really unsure about it, but then I ate like half the pizza."
"Well... next time you talk to her, tell her I said it's amazing," Tom said matter-of-factly. "And thanks for making it! It was delicious."
Adrianna smiled. She assumed it was, since he ate a majority of the pizza himself. She was glad she didn't have any leftovers. "Thanks, and I will! She'll probably call me tomorrow."
"She calls you a lot then, I take it?"
Adrianna sighed. "Almost every day. She seriously called me earlier and asked me every question she could possibly manage about what was going on today. She freaked out when I said I had a date."
Tom's eyes grew wide. "She freaked out?"
"She always has," Adrianna sighed. "I didn't tell her much. Just your first name. She kept going on about how she wants to meet you."
He leaned forward in his chair, resting in his head on his hands. "Does she?"
Adrianna nodded. "I just told her we'd have to see about that. She's under the assumption that we're together, but we're not really."
Tom winked at her. "I mean... technically we are dating."
Adrianna felt her face turn slightly pink once again. What exactly was he hinting at? Did he want to be with her? She was determined to find out. "True," she said cautiously.
"But I'm not in any rush, and I'm sure you're not either," he continued. "Especially since we both just got out of those relationships."
Adrianna smiled. For once a guy didn't want to jump into things. It was a pleasant change, even if he was the one guy on planet earth she wouldn't have minded jumping into things with. "Definitely not," she smiled back at him.
The girl stood and began clearing off the table. She carefully balanced the plates and pan until she deposited them in the kitchen sink. After a moment, she went back into the dining room. Her brown eyes fixated on Tom's gray-blue ones for a moment before she spoke again. "So... wanna watch a movie?" she asked, mentally slapping herself for staring at him.
"Sure! What do you have?" he replied.
"A little bit of everything!" Adrianna exclaimed. She gestured for him to follow her into the living room. She took a seat on the floor next to a rack of DVD's as he sat on the couch. "We have just about everything you can think of. Romance, action, comedy... you know. Something for every occasion."
"I was thinking comedy," Tom smiled.
"Sounds good to me!" Adrianna agreed, as she started to yank the DVD's off the rack. As she got to the fifth or sixth movie, she decided to ask, "So... I've been curious for a while now. What was life like before you started acting?"
"You know... it's hard for me to even remember because I started when I was so young," Tom admitted. "From an early age I've just had to get used to being in the lime light. Can't say I've ever really had a real quiet life."
"How could you? I mean... my life was quiet. Yours couldn't have been with all the movies you were in, and just everything you do," Adrianna was honestly shocked that he couldn't remember having a normal childhood. Or at least something as normal as hers.
"You just get used to it after a while; that's why the paparazzi doesn't freak me out anymore. After a while, they run out of new things to throw at you," Tom admitted. "Plus my family was a big help growing up."
"You have a big family?" she asked, adding another movie to the pile.
"Yea, I have three older brothers plus my parents, and we've always been really close," Tom answered. "What about you?"
"I'm actually the oldest, and I have a younger brother," Adrianna admitted, smiling. "But that's of course if you don't factor in the people I count as family, too."
Tom smiled back at her. "Well by that logic, we both have pretty big families."
"I guess so!" Adrianna replied before she slid over by the couch with a stack of movies. "So here you go! Pick whatever one you want."
She handed him the movies, and he quickly ruffled through them, eventually picking one out. "What about this one?" he asked.
Adrianna took it from him, and immediately laughed when she saw it. "Zombieland? Really?"
Tom shrugged. "Why not? It's funny! And there's zombies!"
"True," Adrianna chuckled. She got up and put the rest of the movies away and placed that one in the DVD player. Once she had taken care of that, she joined Tom on the couch. As the movie started to play, Tom placed his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. This caught Adrianna off guard, but she soon got comfortable on his shoulder. For once, everything was going perfect.
*******
Adrianna's eyes fluttered open. The movie was back to the main menu. Honestly, she was a bit confused. The last thing she remembered was something about Twinkies. She looked down to find Tom sleeping soundly. He had his arms wrapped around her, holding her close to his chest. She smiled; they both must have fallen asleep during the movie. After watching him sleep for a moment, she decided to wake him.
"Tom," she whispered, burying her face in his chest.
He stirred quietly. "Yea?"
"Wake up," Adrianna muttered, though it was all too apparent to her that neither one of them wanted to get up. "The movie is over."
Tom sat up slightly, stretching and helping Adrianna up as well. "What time is it?"
Adrianna shrugged, yawning in the process. "No idea. Late?" She felt her eyelids getting heavy again. No matter what time it was, she was definitely ready to go to bed.
"Awe, you're sleepy. Perhaps I should let you get some sleep?" Tom asked.
"No, no... you're fine," Adrianna yawned again. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she was extremely tired. And too lazy to get up. "Sides... I'm kind of comfy here," she laughed.
"But wouldn't you be more comfortable in your room?" he raised an eyebrow at her.
"Well yea but..." Before Adrianna could finish her sentence, Tom swept her up and carried her down the hallway to her room. He set her down carefully on her bed, and sat down next to her.
"There, now you can sleep comfortably," he smiled.
"You know you didn't have to do that," Adrianna said back.
"I know, but I couldn't help it," Tom sighed. "I would much rather you be comfortable."
Adrianna smiled at him. "Well... thanks."
"Don't mention it."
Adrianna sat there, looking at him in the light coming from her window. His eyes sparkled in the moonlight, drawing her ever closer to him. All at once, she noticed him doing the same, and in within moments, they were only inches apart. Before Adrianna could figure out exactly what was going on, she felt his lips against her own. The girl got lost in his kiss, forgetting everything else but him. For just a moment, time stopped. When Tom finally pulled away from her, Adrianna found herself breathless.
Tom rested his forehead against hers. "Thanks so much for inviting me over, beautiful. I consider myself lucky to have spent an evening with you."
"No... thank you for everything," Adrianna stumbled over words. "I don't know where I'd be if you hadn't gotten me to dance with you."
"I couldn't help it," Tom smiled. "Shall we do this again?"
"Most definitely."
He kissed her gently once more before standing. "I'll see myself out, so you just stay here and get some sleep."
"Alrighty, just lock the door please?" Adrianna asked.
"Of course; I can't have someone stealing you!" Tom joked. "Good night, Adrianna."
"Good night, Tom." Adrianna watched him as he slowly walked away. Once she heard the front door shut, she closed her eyes.
That night she got the best sleep of her life.
