Chapter Two ~ The Adventure Begins

Chapter Two ~ The Adventure Begins

Amy Taylor POV

"It's all just a dream, it's all just a dream." I chanted quietly to myself as I continued walking until I arrived at the service station. Ah, I made it in time. A new bus had arrived and the other students were lined up to get on. I quickly joined the line, already pushing my earbuds back in, my playlist set.

We missed out on first period, but I didn't really care. Never like doing Maths anyway. But I had another storm coming as my best friend Kate marched up to me. "Where have you been?!" She demanded.

"Uh..." I glanced away from her fuming face awkwardly. She had always been the jealous type.

"Amy! Don't give me that look! I know you've been on some crazy adventure without me!"

"Do you take the bus?"

"No, I walk."

I stared at the floor. Kate was an outdoor person. She loved going camping, playing sport, and doing something adventurous. I, on the other hand, hated going outside. Especially when it's raining. They need to invent waterproof books!

Kate marched off again. Then Susan strutted up to me. I groaned internally "Hey, loser." She smirked. "Looks like you're lonely."

"Duh." I rolled my eyes and stalked off down the hall.

I made my way to Science, where we had to fill out a bunch of worksheets, and do some "experiments" on toilet paper and how much it can soak up water. Everything was looking normal and I had just convinced myself that I had been imagining things this morning when English arrived in a flurry of weird events.

By weird, I mean REALLY WEIRD. The window suddenly smashed to pieces, showering the people nearest with glass. About a 4/10 on the weirdness scale. Oh, did I forget to mention that the window was shattered by a YOUNG GIRL? (That's at least a 7. or an 8, you decide) Like Lexi, she looked thirteen and had blonde hair, but that's where the similarities stopped. Her eyes were metal-grey, and she held a weird thing that looked like a sword. Whoa, what?

Several people screamed and ran to the door, but the girl just laughed. "Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." She snorted. Then she turned to me, and said in a robotic voice, "Thy master awaits thee."

"What?" I inched off my chair, eyes wide.

The girl just rolled her eyes. "Aphrodite wishes to see you."

"What?" But the girl was already pulling me through the broken window.

"Come on, Amy! We gotta hurry!" She called.

"How do you know my name?" I demanded. "Has this got something to do with the 'Aphrodite Rangers'?"

The girl stared at me. "How do you know about the Aphrodite Rangers?"

"Uh..."

"Never mind. I'm Estelle, by the way." She straightened her posture and saluted to me.

"Just one question," I said lightly, as though we were having a normal conversation. "What's going on?"

Estelle was quiet for a moment, then she started to speak, now dragging me through the school parking lot. "It's complicated. The Aphrodite Rangers are a group of girls - and a few boys - who protect our ships. OTPs, to be more precise."

"You run around protecting ships?" I cried. Why would a bunch of people rush around to stop boats from sinking?

"Yeah, otherwise people break them up." Obviously I was confused as a fish who had been taken out of water, but I nodded anyway.

Estelle took me to a car and waiting there was a girl. A familiar girl. "Lexi?" I asked.

"Hey, Amy." She grinned, then began singing. "Are you, are you-"

"No! Don't sing that song!" Estelle cried, pressing her fingers to her temple. "It's annoying!"

"No, it's not!" Lexi protested, getting into the car. It was a dark blue two-seater, Aston Martin.

"Um, I don't think we'll all fit in there." I pointed out.

Estelle shrugged. "Who cares."

I was about to say "I care," but they were already in the car. I climbed in the back through the trunk or whatever you call them. But when I climbed into where the front seats were supposed to be, I was surprised to find a large room.

There were couches were pressed against the walls, as well as: a small snack bar, a cooler filled with drinks, TVs, shelves full of books, and a sweet-as speaker system. Well then, looks like I won't be moving for a few hours. There weren't any windows, but that didn't really matter, I guess. "Woah!" I cried, noticing how soft the dark carpet was. The room started moving, as Lexi started up the car. I crashed on the couch, grabbing one of the iPads off the coffee table.

There were tons of music and movies to choose from, and I eventually chose a playlist called 'relaxing beats'. Something caught my eye. There was a photo hanging from the wall.

In the picture were a very pretty lady, Lexi, a handsome boy with messy black hair and sea green eyes, and a pretty girl with curly blonde hair and grey eyes. All except the pretty woman wore orange tee-shirts that read: "Camp Half-Blood" and jeans.

There's no going back now, I thought as I settled back into the couch, closing my eyes.
