Sleep is for the Weak
So I want to point out that I wrote this when I was having trouble sleeping and just amped up the angst and problems for story line purposes, cause what's life if I'm not making my problems worse and giving them to fictional characters. I've been writing a lot with Denki and have another story planned for him.
Summary: Denki has sleeping problems, but doesn't want to tell anyone from an old middle school fear. In an attempt to help him control his sleeping problems and do better on his school work Aizawa has Shinsho Hitoshi help him out.

Denki is good at a lot of things. He's able to make jokes to bring a mood up.He's an expert when it comes to basic makeup. He's good at making friends.
Denki is also bad at a few things. He's not that smart academically wise and he has a bad sleeping habit.
Denki doesn't like to make his friends worry, so he did the best he could to not. Before the dorms is wasn't that hard. Before he goes to school he does his basic makeup and leave.
When they did the king of the rooms and everyone saw his room he had to make sure he hid his makeup, he wants to think that his friends wouldn't make fun of him, but his mind sometimes tells him otherwise.
Once he was fully moved into the dorms he started to have problems and his friends would notice.
Denki had horrible sleeping problems, but it's not his fault. He just has bad insomnia. He's aware that if you play with electronics before sleep it makes it worse. He looked up all the information he could on how to sleep better, don't eat around an hour before going to bed, no phone 30 minutes before, read a book. He did all of this for a month and nothing changed.
He would fall asleep anywhere between 12-5 and get woken up at 6 to get ready for classes.
His mom started to see the signs in elementary school when he was having trouble sleeping and took him to get diagnosed to be sure. When asked about medication, his mother turned it down. She's a good mother, but the medication did nothing for her or her ex husband so she had faith that it wouldn't help him, until it got to be too much in junior high that his mother relented and let him see if it works.
It didn't do much work, but instead of staying up for long nights and not sleeping for 48-36 hours he was actually able to sleep during the night.
Once all of the tips didn't help him he just started to use his phone in his bed anyways, might as well not be staring at the ceiling for hours in the night leaving him with nothing but his thoughts. If he's not doing one of those things at night then he's mostly just walking around the dorms and campus, trying to not get caught.
Now that he's in the dorms, he had to be sure that no one finds out. Every morning he does his basic makeup to make it look like he has none on, and the bags under his eyes can't be seen. Then he would start his day.
Denki likes to believe that his grades are bad because he can't get enough effort to study, until one day he failed a practice test so bad Aizawa had to do something about it.
"Kiminari stay after class," Aizawa told him as everyone left and he walked up to the teachers desk.
"You failed one of the easiest exams in this class that you're ever going to take," he didn't say it harshly, more calm and rational, as in, this is what you did wrong, but I'll tell you how it can be fixed.
"I'm sorry sir. I swear that I studied for it," Denki told him.
"I saw you try. You fully thought that you were going to get at least a passing grade, because I also saw you suffering trying to answer the questions. Kiminari I fully believe that you have a chance to be a hero with the quirk you have, but your grades have to get up or you won't pass this year. This is why I asked a student from a different class to help you, he's not in the same course as you, but I'm positive that he can help you," after Aizawa said that another student walked in. He had purple hair and wore a scarf, but Denki recognized him from the sports festival. Hitoshi Shinsho.
"This the one I'm tutoring," he asked and with a shake of the head he left the classroom only looking back at the door to look at Kiminari, "well are you coming." With that the electric quirk user went after the other boy.
"Why did Aizawa ask you to help me," Denki asked him as they walked.
"I'll explain when we're in my room," was the response he was given. Well at least now he knows where he's going.
Once in the room Denki noticed a lot of cat things, not enough to be obsessed like, Midorya, but enough that it's noticeable. The room had a bed in a corner, a desk to the side and a TV on a stand on the other wall. Around the TV was a few game systems, near the desk was a small bookshelf filled with books and on the desk was a laptop. Denki was guessing that writing tool and things like that were stuffed in the drawers.
Their was also a table next to the bed and pillows on the ground. Denki found out why when Shinsho sat down on one of the pillows and leaned against his bed to use the table.
"Sit and I'll explain," was all that he said as he took some papers out.
Denki did as he was told and sat down on another pillow.
"Aizawa knows that you walk around the campus at late nights, in fact most of the teachers do. Af first they were worried that you were getting into trouble, until you would only walk around and sit for a while in one place and maybe walk back or find another place, that's what I was told. Aizawa knows that you have a hard time studying because you can't sleep. I have insomnia and manage to get good grades, he thinks that you haven't figured out how to do that yet," Shinsho explained, and it made sense with the dark around his eyes.
"I'm not going to make fun of you. I was shown the camera feed because they think that I can help you. You wear makeup to make your friends not worry, understandable. If it makes you feel better as long as you don't annoy me you can come to my room anytime at night. That's why I have the books, the laptop, the gaming system. I just do something until I get tired and-" he was cut off because Denki finished for him.
"That's when you feel like you have a chance of sleeping."
"But I was told that you can only do that if you get your grades up so I was told to help you study."
With that the two studied and Shinsho helped him with his homework. Now that Denki thinks about it, Shinsho was a lot different from the sports festival, he felt nicer.
It was a week later when he retook the test and was so happy to see that instead of just passing he got a B. All his friends congratulated him, but he didn't want to tell them. After school he made it to Shinsho's room and showed him the paper.
"Good job," he told him.
"I haven't gotten this good of a grade since elementary," Denki told him as he gave the other boy a hug, but the second he noticed that he did he let go and jumped away. "I-sorry. I'll leave," his happy mood gone.
As he turned to leave Shinsho grabbed his hand, "wait. You don't have to leave.I'm sure you have some work you need help with, and if you don't feel like doing that right now we can play some video games, or something," he suggested.
Denki smiled as he walked back, "can we watch cat videos," Denki asked him and it was in that moment that Shinsho felt like he fell in love with the boy in front of him.
Without hesitation they both entered the room and moved the laptop to what Denki has dubbed the study table and watched cat videos.
They did more than that throughout the rest of the day, including studying some things, but Denki didn't leave the room until it was about 1. He didn't really tell anyone where he was going and no one really knows about his studying partner, he'd like to keep it that way.
As he entered the common area of his dorm to get to his room he noticed the dark room switch to light and he saw his classmates, not all of them, staring at him, just Iida, Kirishima, Sero, and Mina.
"Where have you been. It is past curfew. You could get in a lot of trouble, Iida told him as he laughed. "Relax Iida. I have permission from Aizawa and all of the other teachers to be out this late," he told the class rep.
"What were you doing out so late," Kirishima asked him.
"Nothing to worry about. I was doing some extra stuff for classes," Denki really didn't want them to know what was up with him.
"You're leaving something out," Mina told him, of course she would notice.
"Well it is none of our business. I think that since he has permission we should leave him be," Iida said no longer worried now that he knows about the permission.
"What but! I want to know," Mina told Iida who just scoffed at her behavior.
"Iida does have a point. It's really none of our business," Sero said, not really wanting to hurt his friend, but wants to know what's up with him.
"Guys I'm fine, I have permission, and I don't want to talk about it. Can we please drop it," Denki asked them.
"Alright Kami. I'll drop it for now, but I'ma be keeping an eye on you," Mina told him and that honestly scared him a little.
He decided a change of plans was in order. Denki went to his room packed some stuff, to get his makeup off, his makeup, and some extra clothes in his school bag, knowing his books and work is already in it, and made it back outside his dorm room.
He was careful to make sure that Mina or anyone else wasn't following him until he made it to Shinsho's room. He knocked and was glad that the other boy answered.
"I thought you wanted to leave before your friends thought something was up," he said as he let Denki in.
"That was the plan, but a few of them and our class rep was waiting for me to return. Their hooked on knowing what's up with me, but I don't want them to know so I was wondering if I could sleep in here tonight," Denki asked him.
"Alright," Denki was happy until he said the next thing, "but only if you tell me why you don't want them to know."
Oh kay Denki can do that.
"Sit down Kaminari."
"Kami or Denki. If I'm going to tell you my worst memories then you have to call me something less formal," Denki told him as Shinsho agreed. It was after this night that Denki realized he was in love with the purple haired brainwasher.
Instead of the normal study table they sat down in instead they sat on the bed leaving against the wall.
"I got diagnosed in elementary school, like early on, it was bad, but no one really noticed except for my mom. I didn't get medicine right away because it didn't worked for neither of my parents, but it got so bad in middle school I could go three to four days with no sleep and wouldn't think twice about it until my body dropped on it's own. I passed out a few times until my mom got me some medicine for it. That's when it went from 3-4 days to not sleeping for a few hours. But once I passed out that first time rumors started to spread in my school about what was wrong with me. When I was bullied into telling I got made fun of. I was called crazy and a scardy cat. It doesn't sound too bad until you hear the reasons behind them. When I said I was going to try out for UA I was called delusional. I was crazy because only a crazy person would pass out from no sleep. Of course he didn't get any sleep he's scared of it, what a scardy cat. He's delusional. A hero can't pass out in the middle of the job. Then I gained the bags under my eyes and that was a whole new thing. I was made fun of, teased, bullied, and more for something I had no control over," Denki told him, not noticing the tears going down his face or the way he was closer to Shinsho.
"The teachers did all they could to stop it and it wasn't even everyone in the school it was a group of five idiots. I know it's stupid and not that big of a deal, but I don't want a repeat of that," Denki said as he looked up at the person who was cuddling him and running his hands through his hair to calm him.
"Well they are assholes and shouldn't have a say in anything. You're not crazy, delusional, or a scardy cat, but that's okay. They have no idea who you are and how amazing you are Denki Kaminari," Shinsho told him.
"Shinsho can I- can I kiss you," Denki asked him.
Without hesitation Shinsho pushed lips on to Denki's and the electric boy melted into the kiss. They stayed like that cuddled up, well Shinsho did go and put a movie in, but then they went back to cuddling and both were surprised when they woke up refreshed.
"You're welcome to stay here anytime and your friends can't force you to tell them anything. Tell them when the time is right," Shinsho told him as all Denki did was cuddle closer.
The two eventually got up and dressed, Denki hiding the dark around his eyes as Shinsho watched him.
"What's with that look," Denki asked him.
"You look perfect without the makeup," was the response given to him.
Denki blushed at that but just continued. Before the two left the room they gave each other a quick kiss and left.
Both were interrogated by their friends, Shinsho on who the mystery guy was and Denki on where he was.
"It doesn't really matter guys," Denki told them, but Mina stopped him.
"Your happy," she said.
"I'm always happy," he told her.
"This is a different type of happy," she pointed out to him.
"I have a good reason to be happy this time," he said as he looked out the window.
Mina didn't get anything else out of him, but she didn't need to. Denki did a shift. He was smiling more, getting better grades and just better altogether. Whatever or whoever was making him this happy she could wait to find out when he was ready.
So at the time of writing this I wasn't sure if Kami's first name was Denki or Kaminari, I know it's Denki now, but if there's any mistakes like that then I didn't change it, cause I'm to lazy, so just ignore those.
