Part 8
It had been a few days since you and Suga had made peace. Since then, he had transformed back into his ruthless gang self and basically ordered you around like the help you were. You were distant from the other members, but they never reached out to you either so it didn't really matter. Jimin now kept his door locked shut and would only allow you to go inside if he was around to chaperone. You couldn't really blame him; you had proven your capabilities when you had gotten onto his desktop in the first place.
It had nearly been a month since you had been trapped here and still no word from your father. Although it didn't surprise you that he was radio silent, it still managed to make you uneasy. Your timeline was shortening every day and if you didn't come up with something soon, there would be a bullet in your brain.
Your injuries had healed significantly since that infamous night, mostly thanks to Suga's ointment for the bruises and lots of sleep. You could still remember his gentle touch as he applied the ointment to your neck and it made you blush. You were ashamed to say that you may have fallen for his 'troubled prince' charade. He had shown you a side to him that was almost sweet. He was kind and sincere when he spoke and you had been surprised at how tender his touch was. He handled your injuries with care and you even saw a hint of guilt in his gaze at times.
That had only made you even more confused about who Suga really was. Was he truly the cruel, violent gang leader, or was it all just an act? And then if it was an act, then why had he decided to drop it for you of all people?
That afternoon, you were sweeping the hallway beneath the stairs singing softly to yourself. You were mostly trying to distract yourself from your own thoughts, since you had already swept this area. You hummed and twirled a bit as you swept away the dust, not really paying attention to anything around you.
You looked up for a second to see Jimin standing at the head of the hall, watching you with an amused smile on his face. You gasped, not expecting to see him, and almost dropped the broom.
"You scared me." You said, catching your breath. Jimin chuckled and crossed his arms.
"You've got a nice voice." He commented, causing you to blush slightly. You were about to thank him, when his smile fell off his face and his eyes sharpened. He put a hand to his lips and you paused, scrunching your eyes in confusion.
He turned his head like he had heard something and you found yourself holding your breath, listening intently. You were about to ask him what was happening, when Jimin turned his head back to look at you, his eyes widened and he pulled out his gun.
Almost as quickly as your face morphed into one of shock, did two arms suddenly wrap around your shoulders. You screamed as a hand clamped around your mouth and the other fisted in your hair. Your assailant yanked on your hair hard, causing tears to well up in your eyes. You tried to bite the hand over your mouth, but your assailant had already removed the hand and you heard the unmistakable sound of the cock of a gun right next to your ear. You entire body froze as the barrel of the gun was pressed against your neck and the hand that had been in your hair, grabbed and twisted your arm behind your back, immobilizing you.
"One false move and the bitch dies." A low, gruff voice hissed in your ear. You felt chills of terror run down your spine and you stared at Jimin with wide, fearful eyes. Jimin exhaled as his eyes zeroed in on the gun digging into your neck. "Drop your weapon." Your assailant commanded. Jimin hesitated and you felt a tear leak down the side of your face. Why would he choose to save you if he could kill the intruder?
"I said drop it!" The intruder shouted, yanking your arm painfully. You let out a small whimper as the gun dug further into your neck. It was becoming uncomfortable for you to swallow.
"Okay, okay..." Jimin surrendered, placing his gun on the floor. He lifted himself back up with his hands raised. Your intruder yanked you closer to him and you whimpered when you could smell the tobacco on his breath. You closed your eyes, praying this would be over soon.
"Kick the gun away." The intruder demanded. Jimin obeyed, kicking his handgun down the hall.
"Let her go, she's an innocent in all of this." Jimin said, his voice eerily calm. He didn't look nearly as scared as you felt. You wanted to scream or run away or curl up into a ball and cry. You didn't know what to do, you felt so powerless and vulnerable.
"I don't care who she is. If you move in any way, I'll kill her right now." Your lips trembled at the man's threat. Jimin pursed his lips and lowered his eyelids. His gaze met yours and you felt the tears falling faster now. Jimin's eyes revealed nothing and you knew he was trying to figure a way out of this.
"It's going to be okay, little firecracker. Hang on, you're going to be fine." Jimin reassured, nodding at you. There was something else in his gaze: a message, a warning? You couldn't tell and it was too late to decipher it.
"Don't talk to her. Get on your knees and put your hands behind your head." Your assailant tightened his grip around your arm and you exhaled sharply. Jimin swallowed and a muscle in his jaw jumped anxiously. He glanced at you, then back up at your intruder. He looked down at you and gave you a tiny, reassuring nod.
Your mouth parted when, as quick as lightning, Jimin leapt backwards and disappeared from the hallway. Your eyes widened and you gaped at the space he vanished from. How had moved so fast? The intruder wasn't happy as he cursed loudly and removed the gun from your neck, yanking your arm harshly.
The shock of Jimin's abrupt departure faded quickly as the fear of your situation settled in. Jimin had left you alone with this attacker with no way for you to escape or get free. You understood in a chilling realization that you were alone in this. You couldn't depend on them to save your life, you had to save yourself.
The man started muttering to himself as your brain started buzzing with ways to escape his grasp without getting killed. The fact that he hadn't killed you yet was very telling. It meant he needed leverage against Suga that he couldn't easily get rid of. That also told you that he was either alone, or his accomplices were indisposed. With that thought in mind, your body acted purely on instinct.
You lifted your right foot and stomped it as hard as you could onto the man's toes behind you. He cried out and his grip on your arm lessened. You took that opportunity to elbow him hard in the face with your free arm. He yelped and stumbled backward, the hand he was using to hold your arm flying up to his face. You quickly turned around and delivered a swift kick to his stomach, which sent him tumbled onto the ground with a small 'oof'.
Your eyes zeroed in on the gun that had clattered to the ground and you dove toward it, wrapping your fingers around the handle. You stood back up and backed away from your downed assailant, pointing the barrel of the gun at his chest. You gripped the gun with both hands and tightened your index finger around the trigger.
The intruder sat up, rubbing his nose where you had elbowed him and looked up at you. You saw he was a young man in his thirties with messy brown hair and a long scar horizontal across his face. He bared his teeth at you and you shivered when you saw one of his front teeth missing.
"You fucking bitch." He snarled. He stood up as your hands shook around the gun. You gulped as he took a step toward you.
"No, stay where you are!" You cried out in panic. The man paused as your breathing picked up. "D-don't move or I'll shoot you." You stuttered, hoping you sounded more convincing than you felt. He smirked and raised an eyebrow at you.
"You won't shoot me. I can see it in your eyes. You don't have the balls." He mocked, grinning unattractively. Your fear subsided slightly to be replaced with defiance and a hint of anger. You were so tired of being pushed around by men who thought they were better than you just because of their genitals.
"Maybe I don't, but look into my eyes again. I am terrified and grasping at straws to save myself. You really think that if you move in any way at all, that I won't accidently pull the trigger out of complete instinct or reflex?" You snarled.
The man's smirked faded as he looked into your eyes. You were dead serious. Maybe you didn't want to kill anyone, but you were shaking and your fingers were getting sore. Who was to say that anything couldn't accidently set you off?
Like a little firecracker... you thought ironically.
The two of you stood at a stalemate for a few seconds before a crash was heard from upstairs. Before you could react, you heard a hard thud and the man's eyes went glassy before he collapsed on the ground. You gasped as you looked up to see Suga, Jimin and Jin standing above him. Suga was holding the barrel of a gun as he had used the handle to hit the intruder on the back of his head. You exhaled a sigh of relief as Suga looked back up at you. He smirked and you saw a hint of pride in his gaze.
"Nice work, little firecracker. You're a natural fighter." Suga said, smiling. He tucked his gun in his waistband of his jeans and moved toward you. He held out his hand expectantly and when you continued to stare at him, he narrowed his eyes.
"I'll take the gun, now." He said nodding at the gun still wrapped tightly in your fingers. You glanced down at it and realized you were still holding it up, pointing at his chest.
A thought suddenly occurred to you with the gun resting in your palm. You could use this to escape. If you played your cards right and threatened using the right words, you could get out of this. You could force them to let you leave.
As soon as the thought formed in your head and you began to construct your plan, your hands were suddenly empty. You gasped and stared at your empty hands in confusion. You looked up to see Suga tucking the gun away in his back pocket. His gaze bore into yours and you knew that he had seen that glimmer of hope in your eyes. He had seen the second where you had contemplated using the gun against him.
"I'm proud that you defended yourself. But don't push your luck. He was from a lower gang. Just remember that he is a child compared to any one of us." Suga said in a low voice. You gulped and ducked you head down, nodding solemnly.
You gasped slightly when you felt his fingers tuck under your chin. You swallowed as he lifted your head to look him in the eyes. He tilted your head back and to the side, inspecting you. He released your chin and moved his hand to the back of your head. You winced when he gently ran his finger through your hair. You were tender from when the man had yanked on your hair. He nodded and turned from you to look back at Jimin and Jin.
"Bring this one and the other to the kitchen. Jin, take Y/N upstairs and clean her up." Suga ordered. Both men nodded and set to work diligently.
Jimin grabbed the intruder's arms and dragged him backwards into the kitchen while Jin approached you with his hand outstretched. Suga followed Jimin out of sight and you had no choice but to take Jin's hand.
Jin led you back up the stairs and into his room. He sat you on the bed and moved to one of his drawers where he pulled out a first aid kit.
You were still slightly in shock from what had just gone down. Jin calmly handed you some painkillers and closed your fingers around a glass of water. You mechanically pushed the pills in your mouth and gulped the water down without really thinking about your actions. Jin held up some soft cotton tissues and moved to your neck. That movement seemed to snap you back to reality when you thought about the barrel of the gun digging into your windpipe. You jerked back and swiped his hand away.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You've got a nasty cut on your neck and I need to clean it." Jin explained softly.
You swallowed in embarrassment and reached up to touch the area where the deadly weapon had been buried in your skin. You winced at the dull pain in your neck and withdrew your hand to see your fingers coated in a thin sheet of blood. You hadn't even realized that you'd been cut during everything that had gone down.
"Who was that man?" You asked, allowing Jin to dab your neck with his tissues. He started working on disinfecting the cut and pursed his lips, ignoring your question. You swallowed and winced when the disinfectant made the cut sting a little.
"Suga mentioned he was from a lower gang. Why would they try to attack you guys?" You asked again, searching Jin's eyes for answers. Jin sighed and met your gaze, unwrapping a bandage for your neck.
"I don't think they were trying to attack." He said considerately. You swallowed and looked away, thinking.
"How many of them were there?" You asked. Jin placed the bandage over your cut and stood up.
"Only two." Jin said, putting the first aid kit away. You stared in surprise.
"Two? What did they think they could do with only two?" Jin said nothing as you continued to voice your thoughts out loud. "They must not have thought they would be caught if they were so reckless. So maybe that means they weren't here to try to attack or anything. So... they were here to spy?"
Jin swallowed and pursed his lips.
"You're quite observant." He commented. You paused and shrugged. It was part of your nature to try to piece everything together. "Yes, that's what I am assuming. They weren't here for anything except reconnaissance. The real question is why?" Jin continued. You swallowed and looked away thoughtfully.
"They were from a lower gang. Why would a lower gang want to spy on you? Were they trying to take your reign?" You suggested. Jin let out a dry chuckle.
"There's no way a lower gang could ever infiltrate or take over us. We would destroy them before they'd ever step foot onto our turf." Jin said in a low voice. You looked back up at him and narrowed your eyes.
"So what the hell do you call this?" You said, gesturing to your neck. Jin pursed his lips and nodded.
"That's what is confusing. These lower gangs usually have no balls whatsoever and would never even think of crossing us, which doesn't make any sense as to why they would come here." He said, crossing his arms.
"So... maybe you were never supposed to know they were here. Maybe they were only here to collect information about you." You concluded. Jin nodded.
"That's what I think. But the real question is who put them up to it? There is no way that they thought of this on their own. Which means that someone put the up to this." Jin deadpanned. You tilted your head at him.
"Who do you think would do that? Who would ever want to take down the Bulletproof Gang?" You asked in bewilderment. Jin sighed and tilted his head.
"That's the real questions, isn't it?" He said vaguely.
Suddenly the deafening sound of two consecutive gunshots exploded through the house. You gasped and flinched back as Jin turned his head to the sound, obviously unfazed. He cracked a smile at the sound as you stared at him in shock.
"W-what was that?" You whispered, gripping the sheets of the bed hard. Jin smiled and shook his head.
"Well, that was quicker than I thought it would be. Looks like the interrogation is over. I'm going down to see what's up, I'll be back." Jin started to make his way to the door, when you stood quickly and called out to him.
"Wait! I-uh..." Jin paused and turned to look at you. You blushed hard and wrung your hands together, staring at the floor. You didn't want to admit it, but you felt uncomfortable being left alone. All you could think about was that goon's hands wrapped around you and his breath on your neck that sent chills down your spine.
"Can I come with you?" You asked timidly. Jin raised an eyebrow at you.
"Are you sure you want to see this? It might be pretty gory." Jin warned.
You swallowed and wrapped your arms around yourself. If you were honest, you really didn't want to see two dead bodies, but you knew that you would rather look at some blood than be left alone right now. You nodded and Jin shrugged. He beckoned for you to follow him and you did, wincing slightly at the soreness in your arm from when the goon had twisted your arm behind your back.
You and Jin made your way to the kitchen. All six of the other boys were already inside, standing in a circle around the wall with Suga standing in the middle. His back was to you so you couldn't see what was further inside the room, but you did notice a handgun in his hand. When they heard the two of you walk in, the boys turned to look at you. Jungkook scowled when he saw you and you avoided his gaze. Your gaze found Jimin, whose lips parted and a flash of concern filled his gaze.
Suga turned around and stepped to the side to face you. You looked into his eyes to see cold, black orbs with no emotion. You hated when Suga was like this and you knew you would have to be careful about what you said when he was in this state. Your eyes panned to the side and you felt your stomach lurch at the sight in front of you.
There were two men sitting up against the wall, each with a bullet hole in their brains and blood spattered on the wall behind them. Their heads were lolled to the side and they were unmoving. You swallowed as you recognized the one as the one who had attacked you. Even though it was a horrible sight to see and you felt extreme guilt at their deaths, there was a strange sense of satisfaction in your chest.
You clenched your fists when you thought about the gash on your neck, the pain in your head and in your arm. He had tried to use you as his means of escape, regardless of whether you'd survive and you hated him for that. But did he deserve to die for it?
As you clenched your fists and stared at the man's glassy, lifeless eyes, you felt a little sad that you weren't there to see the light leave his eyes and his blood splatter on the wall.
"So what did we miss?" Jin asked from behind you. You returned your gaze to Suga and the two of you stared at each other for a few seconds. Suga finally tore his eyes from yours to meet the others.
"Our location has been compromised. You know what to do." He said tersely. Almost instantly, everyone started to move. RM gave Jin a look and a nod and the two of them disappeared together. Jungkook and V went up the stairs together, followed by J-Hope. Jimin put a reassuring hand on your shoulder as he passed.
You watched Suga turn his back to you and sigh. His shoulders were tense and you could see the tightness in his back muscles. Your hands ached to run over his back and smooth out the tense muscles.
You walked over to stand next to him and stared at the bloodied mess in front of you, swallowing the bile that was rising in your throat.
"So... um should we clean this up? I can help you." You offered timidly, wringing your hands together. Suga gave you a sideways glance and then looked back at the scene. He sighed and nodded.
"Yeah, let's clean this up." He muttered. You swallowed and backed out of the kitchen.
You retrieved your cleaning supplies from the hallway and walked back to the kitchen. You walked back in to see two body bags that hadn't been there earlier. Suga had already put one body in one of the bags and was in the process of stuffing the other one. You dropped your cleaning supplies next to the mess and got down on your knees. You pulled out a wet rag and started scrubbing the blood off the walls. Suga disappeared to drag and body bags out of the room. When he returned, he got down on his knees in front of you and started to help. After a few silent minutes, he paused and looked up at you.
"You're just full of surprises, aren't you, little firecracker?" he said with a hint of fondness. You looked into his gaze to see that the warmth had returned. He was no longer the cruel gang leader, but the sincere young man that had tended to your bruises. You blushed and smiled in return.
"There's a lot you still don't know about me." You said cheekily. Suga smirked at your response.
"Well, I certainly look forward to getting to know all of it."
