Part 4
After going through as many boxes as you could, it was safe to say you were more than exhausted. You found two or three more boxes of guns, and you even found one full of explosives. That had freaked you out quite a bit, and you used your feet to kick it out of the room, afraid one movement could set the whole place ablaze.
You had managed to clean out most of the room so now there was only one wall of boxes on one side and the rest was clear. You still had to go through and vacuum the place, and most likely mop it was well because the floor was still gross and dusty.
You were resting on the bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought, when you heard some footsteps stop at the doorway to the room. You sat up and looked over to see Jimin watching you quietly. You narrowed your eyes and threw your legs over the bed, standing up.
"Yes?" You asked, not bothering to hide your distaste.
Out of everyone you had met so far, Jimin scared you the least. You weren't sure if it was because he was a computer genius, like you, or what but he never struck you as hardcore as the others. Even though you knew he was probably just as ruthless as the others, his soft facial features, and the way he always tried to reassure you made you think he was kinder.
"You're needed upstairs." Jimin said after a few seconds. He looked around the room and nodded at your handiwork. "You did a good job." He commented. He jerked his head to the boxes outside and smirked a little. "Not a big fan of weapons, are you?" You shrugged.
"Call me old-fashioned, but I like to resolve my arguments with words instead of fists. Or guns, for that matter." You replied easily, walking toward him. Jimin chuckled and gestured for you to follow him.
You fell into step next to him as he led you through the house and up the stairs. He glanced at you for a few seconds, like he was debating on what to say.
"I've been examining your laptop. Your program was very thorough." He commented, gaging you reaction. You shrugged and offered no response. "It was so thorough, in fact, that it makes me think that you have an external hard drive somewhere." You narrowed your eyes, but forced yourself not to look at him. You knew you would give yourself away if you did.
"What makes you think that?" You asked cautiously. Jimin rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Well, I would think that with a program like that, you might be afraid that you would trigger it automatically. And you made it yourself, so you knew exactly what it will do. Which means, if you know that there is no way to reverse its effect, then you'll have stored your stuff on an external hard drive. But that's just a theory." Jimin said, smiling when he saw your stricken face.
You forced your face back to neutral, but you knew you had already given yourself away. You knew that Jimin was a computer genius and you liked to pride yourself in having that same title, but it was clear he was in another level. He had had the computer for maybe... eighteen or so hours and he had already figured it all of its secrets and maybe all of yours as well. You knew that if he went digging any further, you would have to come clean about it all. About your past, your career, everything.
You supposed you should have blamed karma for giving you a drug addict for a father who would put you in danger of the one group of people you knew could never find out who you were.
You and Jimin walked into a large room, which you sort of recognized as a conference room. V was sitting at the end of the long table, playing with and knife in his hand. Jungkook was leaning against the window, cleaning his handgun. Could no one in this house walk around without a weapon on them? Jimin gently pushed you inside the room as Suga and J-Hope appeared from one of the corners, discussing something quietly. Suga nodded at something J-Hope said and then turned to you.
"Have you finished the room?" He asked bluntly. You swallowed and straightened your back, trying not to look so small in front of him.
"Almost. I've finished sorting through most of the boxes." You said solidly, keeping your voice from shaking. You knew that if you started to stutter or mumble, you wouldn't be able to keep it together. He was terrifying, even though he wasn't doing anything to you.
"Ok good. That's going to be your room, since you were so nitpicky about mine." Suga said, a small smirk on his face. You blushed slightly and looked away from his taunting gaze. Suga held something out to you and you looked down at what he was holding. You recognized the foreign object as a pager that was supposed to be hooked around the waistband of your pants.
"This is for you. If we need anything from you, we'll page you. Think you can handle all of that?" he looked at you like you were slow, and you felt indignation rise in your chest. You snatched the pager away from him and fastened it to your leggings. You glared at him, but he had stopped looking at you and had brushed past you like you no longer had any significance to him. He beckoned for the others to follow him and Jungkook and V both rose from their seats to follow their leader. Jungkook cast you a nasty scowl before disappearing out of the room, leaving you and Jimin alone.
"Yikes, Jungkook looked like he wanted to stab you." Jimin said, as you turned to face him. Your face paled at his statement, but Jimin was smiling like it was a joke. You did not find anything about a death threat funny.
"What did I ever do to him?" You said in slight annoyance. Jimin chuckled and took your arm, leading you out of the room.
"Jungkook's just naturally untrusting. I promise, once you've been here for a while he'll warm up to you. Of course, that's assuming you don't try to escape or betray us in any way." Jimin smirked and raised an eyebrow at you and you blushed.
He may have meant it as a joke, but that joke had hit far too close to home. You would much sooner sprint in the opposite direction then have a civil conversation with any one of these boys. Although Jimin seemed fairly nice, he was always watching you and gaging your reaction to the things he said. He studied you like you were a puzzle he was trying to figure out. You just hoped he never got the chance to put all the pieces together.
"So, let's go get your stuff to bring back to your room. Also while we're up here, we should get something for you to wear tonight." Jimin said, leading you into Suga's bedroom. You collected your bags while Jimin remained in the doorway. You noticed that he didn't take a step into the room. It was almost a gesture of utmost respect for his leader that he wouldn't even set foot into Suga's private quarters.
"What's tonight?" You asked, slinging your bag over your shoulder. Jimin led you down the hall to a different room. He opened it and you saw another bedroom. Was this Jimin's room?
No, you banished that thought when you took a look around. The bed was completely made up and looked like it hadn't been touched in a while. There were no toiletries in the attached bathroom, and the dressers were bare of anything, which told you that this room hadn't been lived in in a while.
"We're going out tonight, and Suga doesn't want to leave you alone just yet." Jimin explained. He walked over to the closet and opened it, revealing a bunch of women's clothes. "Pick something nice. You don't want to stand out tonight." He advised, stepping back.
You swallowed and put your bags on the ground before stepping toward the clothes. You tried not to question why there was a closet full of women's clothes in one of their empty bedrooms, but your mind seemed to be working a mile a minute. You knew that someone did occupy this room because Suga had said that there weren't any other room available for you. So that meant that this room had to belong to someone, but who?
It couldn't be anyone who lived here now, due to the barren state the room was in. How many people were in this house? Not including yourself, you counted five: Suga, J-Hope, Jungkook, V, and Jimin. Who else would live here?
You racked your brain, trying to remember who else was a part of Suga's inner circle of officers as you sifted through the clothes. You paused at a sleek black dress that was in your size when you checked the size. That was another thing you noticed: none of the clothes were the same size. The sizes ranged from 2s to 14s. And the styles never matched either. Some dresses were flowery, while others were dark and revealing. You drew out the black dress and held it against your body. You turned to Jimin and quirked an eyebrow at him.
"Would this work?" You asked. The dress was cute: a tight long sleeve with a swooping back that stopped about mid-thigh. Jimin tilted his head as he looked it up and down and nodded. You made to close the closet when you stopped and gasped, nearly dropping the dress.
You remembered the names. The two names of that last two members of Suga's inner circle.
"RM and Jin..." You whispered. You hadn't even realized that you'd said it aloud. Jimin's eyes narrowed and you swallowed. You quickly grabbed your bags, hoping he would just forget your little slip up.
"What did you just say?" Jimin asked, all previous signs of kindness gone. His lips had tilted into a frown and his eyes were narrowed to slits as he studied you. Crap, crap, crap... you had seriously messed up now.
RM and Jin were the two members of Suga's high ranks that were least on the papers. They were Suga's eyes and ears in every other country besides the one you resided in. They ran the out of country businesses, such as the huge drug cartel that Suga owned. They were rarely in town and it was nearly impossible to know who they were... unless, of course, you were paid to do so by a newspaper owner who noticed your incredible talent with a computer.
"What?" You asked, trying to play dumb. You shouldn't have ever heard their names, no matter what you read in the papers. This would for sure give you away. And not only did you know who they were, but you knew their real names. Their true names that gave way to every single record they had ever filed under.
"You said something just now. Tell me what you just said." Jimin repeated, stepping closer to you. One of his hands moved to rest on his hip, while the other clenched to a fist. You eyed the one on his waistband, realizing that it was resting on the outline of a gun.
"I didn't say anything. I really have no idea what you're talking about." You repeated, forcing your voice to remain steady.
"V was right, wasn't he?" Jimin continued, as if you hadn't said anything. "You're not just a proofreader. You know things about us that no average citizen would know. Why is that?"
"I—um... I don't—" You stammered as Jimin leaned down close to you so you could smell his breath. Your heartbeat sped up when you realized that he could easily kill you right now in multiple different ways. He could shoot you with that gun, he could choke you to death, he could slam your head on the wall, or he could simply snap your neck. He had every right to just kill you now. You squeezed your eyes closed and prayed that he would make it quick.
"You're walking on thin ice, little firecracker." Jimin said finally, after what felt like hours of silence. You peeled your eyes open to see he had stepped back. "You're lucky I'm feeling generous, or I would force you to tell me exactly who you are right now. But unlike most of my comrades, I believe in second chances, in clean slates. So I'm going to give you one."
The amused spark returned to his gaze and your shoulders sagged in relief. "It's not your fault that you were brought here and I know that you never wanted this. So, I'm giving you this chance. You forget everything about your previous life and you adjust completely to this one. If you do that, I won't force you to tell me who you are. I won't force you to tell me how you know about RM and Jin."
Your eyes widened when he said their names. This confirmed your fears. You were right, these rooms did belong to them.
"Why are you telling me this?" You asked, watching as Jimin smiled and shrugged. You were extremely caught off guard by that smile. Not seconds ago, he was glaring at you like he wanted to stab you right through the heart. You had to remember where you were. You had to remember that you were surrounded by sociopaths and you could never hope to understand their behavior.
"Well, the fact that you know who they are doesn't mean much. You're going to meet them tonight anyway. Come on, let's get going." With that, Jimin turned and walked out of the room, without even looking to see if you were following.
You returned to your little closet after that disturbing encounter with Jimin and started vacuuming the floors a bit, needing to busy your hands with something. You never really understood exactly how much trouble you were in. Jimin had been a snap away from killing you, and you knew he would have felt no remorse afterwards. So far, no one had laid a hand on you, but that was only because you were cooperating. The second you stepped out of line, you knew that this lucky streak would end abruptly and painfully.
And now, apparently, you were going to meet the two members of this gang that were the most elusive. The only two that gave you trouble when researching them. It had taken a lot more effort to dig through the encrypted files to even get a morsel worth handing in to your boss. That fact that you were about to meet the two people that you had been relentlessly researching was more than a little intimidating.
When a few more hours came and went, you changed into the dress you had picked out. The dress turned out to be a lot more tight fitting than you initially thought. Even though you thought it was pretty conservative, it turned out not to be the case when you realized that there was a slit in the front of the dress, revealing your cleavage.
Not only that, but you had misjudged its length and were embarrassed to find that the dress barely covered your butt. If you raised your arms over your head, the dress would expose your underwear. You supposed that's what its purpose was, but it was still intimidating to wear something so revealing.
You tied your hair into a high ponytail, which you hoped went with the dress, and fastened on some ankle boots that you had brought with you in your suitcase. You noticed that the other stiletto was gone from your bag. You had been expecting it, since you were basically threatening to use its heel as a weapon.
As you adjusted your dress, you heard a low whistle come from the doorway. Your head snapped up to see V leaning against the doorframe. He was eyeing you up and down with an approving smile on his face. You swallowed and gulped, crossing your arms in an effort to cover up, even though you knew that did absolutely nothing.
"You clean up nice." He commented, winking. You blushed, trying to ignore how the compliment made you feel. You hated how freaking attractive he was. It was hard to keep straight thoughts when he was looking at you like that.
Come to think of it, they were all extremely attractive. Jimin with his angular face, cat-like eyes, and full lips, Jungkook with his sharp jawline and dark eyes, and Suga with his pale skin and perpetual scowl that was both terrifying and incredibly sexy at the same time. It was infuriating how these people were both evil and attractive at the same time. Weren't villains supposed to be ugly, mean people with hooked noses and yellow teeth?
"Where are we even going? No one has told me anything." You said as you followed V out of the room. You noticed that he was in smart jeans and a button up shirt that hugged his body very nicely. He looked like he was going out for a night on the town.
"We're having a meeting at one of our establishments." V said vaguely, leading you into the dining area. The others were already there. Jimin's head turned to you and a grin spread over his face, making you slightly uneasy. Jungkook gave you an uninterested short glance, and J-Hope stared for a little while, an unreadable expression on his face. Suga turned around when he heard the two of you walk in and his lips pursed into a thin line. He looked you up and down and he narrowed his eyes.
"Did you really have to dress her like a skank?" Suga said condescendingly. You blinked and stared in shock when Jimin chuckled a bit.
"Aw, come on, loosen up. She looks great, doesn't she? At least now she could be one of our girls, right?" Jimin said cheerfully. You were still slightly in shock from Suga's rude comment. Gritting your teeth, you turned your gaze to Suga.
"If you don't want a skank around you tonight, then you should just leave me here. Or better yet, you shouldn't have taken me away at all." You snapped angrily.
Silence.
Suga's head slowly rotated to face you and his expression was even more terrifying that it had ever been before. It was completely empty, no anger, no annoyance, no nothing. It was completely devoid of any emotion, like there was no soul inside him.
Your previous anger slowly subsided when you glanced around at the expressions of the others. Jimin's smile had faded and he was giving you an apologetic look as if to say 'that was a mistake'. Jungkook was smirking, like he was extremely pleased with your outburst... or more likely, he was pleased with the result of your outburst.
You swallowed as Suga took a few strides to end up right in front of you. You gulped as his hand wrapped around your wrist. He twisted your arm hard to one side and you cried out in pain at the uncomfortable position.
"You will speak, only when spoken to. You will not disrespect me or my men in any way, now, or later. Do I make myself clear?" He snarled, harshly yanking your arm. You hissed and your other hand reached over to try to free yourself from his grip. You clawed at his hand, but he was too strong and only twisted your arm harder. You felt tears leak out of the corner of your eye as Suga's face leaned in close to your ear.
"Do I make myself clear?" he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper. You gasped and nodded vigorously, praying he would release you. He did, finally and you gasped in relief, stumbling backward and clutching your arm. You rotated it around its socket, working out the sore muscles.
"Do not test my patience, Y/N. If you really want to remain here, we can gladly chain you to a wall. Would that suit your fancy?" Suga continued, raising a mocking eyebrow. You swallowed and shook your head in submission.
You quickly brushed the tears away and straightened up, lifting your chin. You were fine, this was fine. You weren't going to break down here. You deserved that because you had been careless. You had let your emotions get the better of you and you couldn't let that happen again. From here on out, you had to be as emotionless as Suga had been when he looked at you. This was simply what you had to do to survive.
