Part 27

That night, Luke joined you in the bed, wrapping himself around you while you pretended to be asleep. You felt your skin crawl as he wrapped his arms around you and settled his chin into the crook of your neck. How many times had you fallen asleep in this exact position and felt completely safe? You were pretty sure you could count the number of times you ever felt truly safe with Luke and it wouldn't even take up all your fingers and toes.

You waited, forcing yourself to breath slowly and calmly, even though your heart was racing. You waited until Luke's breathing evened out and his grip became limp. Once he was asleep, you detangled yourself from his vice-like grasp and crawled out of the bed. You stared at your ex-boyfriend, asleep and reaching out for someone to control next to him. It made you physically sick to pretend to be that helpless, submissive girl, but it was the only way to stay alive. You had to make him believe you truly loved him, otherwise he would kill you.

You backed away from the bed and entered the connecting bathroom. You turned on the faucet and winced as you stepped out of your clothes and into the warm shower. You leaned against the wall of the shower, letting the jets hit your face with your eyes closed. It was the first time you had truly been alone and as you breathed in and out, you tried to keep yourself from going into a full-blown panic attack.

You knew you only had a limited amount to time to escape. If you didn't do something soon, Luke would take what he wanted from you. You knew that just saying you loved him wasn't going to be enough. Luke would want you to seal the deal. And you knew that if you left him hanging for too long, he wouldn't hesitate to take it by force. He had done it before, there was no putting it past him to do it again. It was because of him that you hated the touch of any man... until Suga...

What were you supposed to do now? How could you let Suga and others know where you were? You had no way to contact them, no phone or computer. Even if you had a computer, there was no way you could get in contact with them. If you knew Jimin, you knew he would have wiped them off the map by now. There was no chance for you to hack your way into their system.

Maybe you could contact them another way. You knew that J-Hope had connections at the police station. Maybe if you contacted the police, they could get you in touch with him. But if you contacted the police, how would you know if they were working for Alistair or Luke? You had to do it anonymously somehow. If could somehow call the emergency hotline, perhaps you could anonymously leave a message that would get back to J-Hope. Unfortunately, you still needed a phone to be able to do anything.

After stepping out of the shower, you pulled your clothes back on before walking back into Suga's old bedroom. You looked around the room, feeling an intense pang of longing. You remembered Suga's gentle touch when he tended to your wounds here. You remembered the intense hatred you felt for him and yet the mysterious pull you felt whenever he touched you. You even remembered the very first time you realized you felt something other than hatred towards him.

Maybe you hadn't realized it at the time, but you had started to fall in love with him very early in the game. You would blame it on Stockholm Syndrome, except it wasn't an infatuation. This wasn't just in your head. And it wasn't like you hadn't fought him numerous times and stood up to him enough. No, this was real, the feelings you had for him were real.

Tears welled up in your eyes as you ached to have him with you again. You missed his touch and the feeling you got when he put his arms around you. You missed him so much it physically hurt.

You moved toward the closet, wondering if Suga's clothes were still there. You opened the closet door and felt your stomach drop at empty closet, save for a leather jacket that you recognized as Luke's. Any trace of Suga had been wiped clean from this house. Alistair and Luke probably burned everything that they had left.

You stared at the jacket, feeling both anger and disgust. Feeling a burst of indignation, you reached out and punched the jacket in anger. You drew your hand back in surprise when the jacket was heavier than you had expected it to be. You looked at the pockets and noticed something in one of them. You reached inside and your eyes widened when you recognized the feel.

You pulled the cell phone out of the pocket and brought it close to your face. It came to life and you sucked in a loud breath, turning quickly to see if Luke had woken yet. You slowly backed away from the closet, holding the phone in your hand like it was a precious gem, terrified of dropping it. You looked over at Luke and quickly tucked the phone behind your back. You took a breath.

"Luke," You said out loud in a low voice. Luke didn't budge from his spot on the bed and you exhaled sharply. "Luke," You said again, a little louder this time. Luke's eyes scrunched together, and you held your breath. Then, he rolled over, still very much asleep.

You breathed a sigh of relief when you were sure that he wouldn't wake up and turned back to the bathroom. Once you were inside, you shut the door behind you and sat on the toilet. You stared down at the phone in awe. You had no idea how you were able to be so lucky that you came across this. But you knew you had to be careful. One wrong move and Luke would know that you were faking it. You unlocked the phone and looked down at the passcode login. You quietly cursed, feeling stupid for thinking Luke would keep the phone unlocked. You started to think. You had dated Luke for years, surely you would know what his passcode was.

You tried his birthday. Wrong passcode. Only 3 more attempts.

You tried his graduation date for high school and college, both wrong. 1 more attempt.

You clenched your fists. You needed to be smart. What was the one thing Luke wanted above all else? That answer was easy: control. For as long as you could remember, Luke wanted to control everything and everyone. Blinded by your love for him, you never understood how controlling he could be until it was too late. You took a deep breath and looked back at the phone.

For your final attempt, you entered your own birthday. The phone opened and you stared at the welcome screen in shock. It had been a long shot, but it was both confusing and horrifying to think that Luke entered your birthday into his phone to use it every day. He thought about you all the time. Which only meant if he found out about your betrayal, he would be that much angrier. You shivered and took a few deep breaths, trying to calm your rising heart rate.

Keep it together.

You opened the phone book. You knew that no matter what number you typed it, it would show up in the recent searches, so you had to make sure that you cleared the number before returning the phone. You would only have one shot at this. You knew that if you used anyone's real name, or your own, it could be detrimental. You had to think. You had to think of a message that was encrypted, but it was enough for them to figure it out.

You took a deep breath, steadying yourself. Then you dialed three numbers into the keypad and held the phone up to your ear. It rang only once.

"This is 911—what's your emergency?"

___________

The room was quiet, but the tension was deadly. After Jimin's call, Suga had immediately called a meeting with everyone. The six boys including himself were waiting for Jimin to return. Suga's hands were clenched so hard that his knuckles were white. He clenched his jaw so tight that his teeth were grinding together hard enough that he may have chipped a tooth.

This was worse than any other situation he had been in involving that girl. This was so much worse... because he knew that she was probably being tortured right as they sat there. He knew Alistair was sadistic and cruel and he would use her for his own entertainment. Whether that meant using her as a punching bag... or worse...

The sides of Suga's vision went red and he closed his eyes, forcing himself to take deep breaths. He couldn't panic now. If there was any chance of getting his little firecracker out and unharmed, he would need to remain calm and objective. He couldn't lose it now.

Suga opened his eyes when he heard the door open. He looked up and watched as Jimin came in and took his seat at the table. Suga leaned forward in his chair as the tension in the room seemed to skyrocket. RM and J-Hope both remained standing, while the others took their seats around the table and watched Jimin expectantly.

"We got to the convenience store." Jimin started. "She went inside alone. I waited for half an hour before going in to find her. She was gone when I went in the store. The girl at the register said that she had left with another man who claimed to be her boyfriend. I found a trail of her change leading out the back entrance." Jimin placed the coins on the table. "She was taken right out from under me, Suga I'm sorry." Jimin turned to Suga and bowed his head in apology and shame. Suga couldn't lie, he was more than a little pissed off that Jimin had lost her but there was no way for Jimin to see this coming. Suga had to remember that.

"Why did she go alone?" V asked. V was sitting with his hands steepled in front of him. He looked angry and tense, which contrasted his usual light-hearted attitude. It seemed that everyone was affected by her absence.

"She insisted. She was probably embarrassed, not that I could blame her." Jimin said, muttering the last part. Suga shot him a death glare and Jimin immediately looked apologetic.

"Why would she be embarrassed?" This from RM, who was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. Jimin looked up, wide-eyed and opened his mouth to answer. Before he could, Suga cut him off.

"She needed more feminine hygiene products." Suga said quickly. Jimin's head sapped to him and Suga gave him a warning look.

"That seems convenient." Jungkook muttered, speaking for the first time. Suga turned to look at him to see fire dancing in his eyes. "So, she just so happens to need tampons on the very same day that Alistair decides to show up at that convenience store? It's too perfect." It was quiet after Jungkook finished. The others looked at each other nervously before looking back at Suga.

"What are you saying?" V asked quietly. Suga's hands fisted under the table as he watched Jungkook sit up straighter. He gave Suga a pointed look before speaking again.

"What everyone is thinking. She is obviously working for Alistair. Now that she has leverage, since we basically told her our entire plan, she runs back to him. I've said it once and I'll say it again: she cannot be trusted." Jungkook stared directly at Suga, with an 'I told you so' expression. It was less than appreciated. Suga bared his teeth and glared at Jungkook.

"How could she possibly know which convenience store we were going to? And why would she leave her change where I could find it?" Jimin said, breaking the staring contest between the two men. Suga looked at Jimin and realized that he was right. There was no way for Y/N to know where the convenience store was.

"She probably dropped the change on accident. And don't forget, she was at the police station for days. She could had easily met up with Alistair and planned out everything with him then." Jungkook argued, waving his hand dismissively.

"That's a pretty far stretch. There's no evidence to say anything about her time at the police station." Jimin snapped, raising an eyebrow. Jungkook clenched his jaw, showing his snarl through his lips.

"You can't deny it's a possibility." He retorted just as easily. Jimin opened his mouth to reply, fir burning in his eyes, but Suga cut him off again.

"Sure, it's a possibility. It's also a possibility that while we've been arguing, she is being tortured and raped as we speak." Suga growled, drawing everyone's attention to him. He glared at Jimin and Jungkook, annoyed that they continuously seemed only to fight with each other in times of crisis. He needed his gang to be united right now. If their wills were divided, then people would end up dead.

"I think the better question is, that either way, Alistair probably plans to use her as bait. So why haven't we heard anything from him? If he wanted to use her to lure us into a trap, why hasn't he done that yet?" RM said suddenly.

"He's probably torturing her to get information from her." Jimin deadpanned.

"Or she's giving it to him willingly." Jungkook snapped back. Th two men glared at each other and Suga almost three his hands up in exasperation.

"Either way, whether she's working for him or not, we need to take her back. We need to decide her fate. If she is being held prisoner, then we need to save her. If she has betrayed us, then I would really like to kill her on our own terms." Suga snarled.

Silence engulfed the room at Suga's threat. Jimin looked at him in surprise while the other's held various degrees of shock or anger. It was probably very surprising to hear Suga talk about harming. It had been weeks since Suga had threatened her in any way. The last time he had laid a hand on her, she had flipped it around in his face and made him feel unjustified. Now, he was threatening to kill her if she had indeed betrayed them again.

Suga meant it too. Y/N had taken more than just his pride at this point. If she truly had betrayed them, then Suga wasn't sure if he would ever fully trust anyone again. He had given her pieces of himself that he had never shown anyone in his life. The night they shared together was something he never thought he could ever experience. He had been calm and gentle with her, he had listened to her. He never listened to anyone. And now... if he found out that she had betrayed him, she will have literally ripped his heart from his chest and crushed it in front of him... and he would kill her for it...

"We don't even know where Alistair could be holding her." Jin said softly, pulling everyone's attention away from Suga's outburst.

"He's leader of the Underground, right? We should start there. Jimin, do you think you find out where Alistair's lair is?" RM asked, taking charge. Jimin jumped when his name was called. He pulled his gaze from Suga's to look up at RM.

"I can try." He said quietly.

"I'll make some calls. We still have some contacts in the Underground, they might be able to provide us some leads." J-Hope said, pulling his phone out.

The group dispersed, Jimin walking out to set up at his desktop, while RM, J-Hope and Jin all left to make phone calls. That only left Suga, Jungkook and V all still sitting at the table. Suga was clenching and unclenching his fists, trying to cam himself down. It wasn't working.

"Would you really kill her, Suga?" Jungkook asked, breaking the icy silence. Suga looked up into the youngest's eyes. Even he wasn't sure of the answer.

"I don't know." He said honestly. Even though he would be destroyed, even if she destroyed him, Suga wasn't sure if he could ever lay hand on her. He thought he could, but if he tried to imagine wrapping his hands around her throat with the intent to squeeze until she stopped moving... he felt physically nauseous just thinking about it.

Suga sighed and the room was quiet for a while. Suga was about to get up when suddenly the door burst open and J-Hope rushed inside, holding his phone out.

"You need to hear this." He said resolutely. Suga looked into his eyes and saw panic, fear, confusion, and anger all mixed in. Something was very wrong.

"Everyone, get in here!" Suga yelled, loud enough for the whole house to hear him. One by one, the boy's trickled inside. Jimin was holding his laptop and placed it on the table as he sat down. J-Hope put his phone in the middle of the table.

"One of my contacts at the police station just sent this to me. It's a recording from one of the emergency hotlines." J-Hope leaned down and clicked play and the recording began to play on the speaker.

"This is 911-what's your emergency."

"I-I need to speak to J-Hope."

Suga's blood ran cold and Jimin gasped next to him when he recognized Y/N's voice. She was speaking softly, like she was afraid someone would hear her. Suga's throat tightened as he felt the intense urge to reach out to her.

"Ma'am? This is the emergency hotline. Do you have an emergency?"

"Yes, I need to talk to J-Hope."

"I'm sorry, there's no one by that name here. Are you in any danger, ma'am?"

"Yes... please, find him and tell him... The little firecracker is in the place where it all began."

"Ma'am? What firecracker? Can you tell me your location?"

"I don't have a lot of time. He-he's going to want more from me. If I don't... he'll kill me."

"Who is going to kill you ma'am?"

"Tell J-Hope that the little firecracker is being held in the place where it all began. Please..."

"Ma'am, you need to tell me your name and your location. I can't help you if you don't."

"Tell him to hurry... I don't know how much longer I have..."

"Ma'am—"

The first responder's voice was cut off when the line went dead. The room remained deathly silent for a few beats before Suga immediately turned to Jimin.

"Can you trace the call? Get the location?" He demanded. Jimin shook his head, trying to shake himself out of his stupor from hearing her voice.

"I don't think so. It sounds like the phone's location was turned off. It's like she called from a payphone, there's no way to trace it." Jimin said solemnly.

"'The place it all began' what did she mean by that? Where what all began?" Jin asked thoughtfully. Suga stayed quiet for a while, thinking about it.

"This, us, that's what she meant." Suga said, his eyes lighting up when he figured it out. "She's talking about our house."

"The mansion?" V asked and Suga shook his head in response.

"No, our headquarters in town. That's where all of this began. It has to be." He really hoped he was right. If he wasn't...

"Okay, great, so we know where she is. What now?" Jungkook said, breaking the tense silence.

"I hate to be the one to say it, but this could be a trap." RM said slowly, looking over at Suga. Suga swallowed, his throat constricting. He knew RM was right, but he just didn't want to acknowledge it.

"She said... she said that he will want more from her. Is she talking about Alistair?" Jimin asked, his voice small. Suga gave him a look.

"Who else?"

"I don't know... the way she said it... it made me think that she's not just being physically tortured. It sounded like she was genuinely terrified of what was coming." Jimin repeated, reaching out to touch the phone, almost like if he could actually touch her on the other end.

"Isn't being beaten up a pretty good reason to be scared?" Jungkook snarled.

"Sure, but she's never been afraid of physical abuse. Remember when she spit in Suga's face?" V remarked. Suga almost smiled when he was reminded of the memory. She had been so strong then. She wasn't afraid of him when she probably should have been.

"This could still be a trap. How did she even get a phone?" Jungkook repeated, pulling Suga out of his thoughts.

"If it were, why would she call the police? Alistair knows how to contact us. If he was using her, he would have just contacted us directly. And we all know how resourceful our little firecracker can be." Jin noted logically. The room was quiet for a few more beats.

"I don't trust this." Jungkook muttered.

"You never do." Jimin snapped. Jungkook's gaze shot to Jimin and he looked like he was about to fight him again.

"Enough." Suga let out a small growl that was enough to make everyone shut up. Suga closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The idea of Y/N alone and afraid was enough to send him into a panic but he remained calm and strong. He had to. He slowly opened his eyes and stood up.

"Okay..." He started. The room was dead silent as the Bulletproof Gang looked up at their leader. "Trap or not, I'm going after her." Suga said definitively. Jungkook narrowed is eyes like he was about to protest, but Suga held is hand up to silence him. "I have to go after her. She's it for me. She's endgame." He said softly. Jungkook's gaze softened as Suga's words penetrated. "I have to go after her because I can't not. I know that it'll be dangerous, and I will most likely be killed. But if there's even a chance that she is being tortured, I must save her. If I don't... I don't think I'd ever forgive myself." Suga took a breath. "I don't want to force you to go with me, so if you want to back out, you can. I know she might not be worth the risk for all of you."

The room was silent for a few minutes. Then Jimin stood up.

"I'm with you Suga. I learned early on that family is not something you're born wit, but something you choose. I choose her to be part of my family." He said, nodding at Suga. Suga felt a flood of relief that he would at least not have to do this alone.

"I'm with you too." RM stepped forward and nodded at Suga. "I don't know her very well, but if she's important to you, then she's important to me too."

"Me too." Jin and J-Hope bot stepped forward and Suga's heart swelled. V stood up and the room was quiet as the men looked to him expectantly.

"I'll follow you, Suga. Besides, it's not like I have anything better to do." He cracked a smile and Suga returned it gratefully. Everyone looked down at Jungkook, the last member left. He looked around at the room and then at the floor before taking a deep breath and standing up.

"I don't trust Y/N. I never have. I might have been close at one point, but as you know, I don't trust anyone well." He took a breath before looking up into Suga's eyes. "I trust you, Suga. If this is what you think we should be doing, then I'm with you."

Suga lifted his chin and looked around the room to all seven members standing around the table, united together forever. RM smiled and turned his head to Suga.

"So, what's the plan, boss?"

Suga took a deep breath.

"I'm going to give Alistair what he wants,"

"And what's that?

"Me."
