Part 17

Recap:

"How much is she worth to you, Agust D?" The man asked, and you could almost hear his grin in his voice. You looked up at Suga to see that he was no longer twirling the knife. Instead, it was clenched in his fist at his side. His jaw was clenched and you could see the pure animalistic anger in his dark eyes.

"You're in no position to be making demands." He snarled.

"Oh, I beg to differ." The man suddenly moved the gun from your waist and you exhaled sharply when it was no longer pressing into your side. He used the tip of the gun to brush a lock of hair from your face and neck, exposing the skin there. Then you felt his teeth graze over the skin of your neck and you audibly whimpered.

"Stop it. Not another movement." Jungkook snapped, stepping forward slightly.

"Ah, ah, ah..." The man placed the barrel of the gun on your temple and Jungkook stopped.

Suddenly, there was a revving behind you and the man turned, pulling you with him. You looked behind where you were standing to see a black car pull up to the side of the main street. The man fisted a hand in your hair and yanked you back with him.

You screamed as he started to run with you and all hell broke loose. There were gunshots and screams everywhere. You couldn't pinpoint where they were coming from or who was shooting but you had enough sense to realize that you were in the middle of it.

Suddenly, you were slammed into a metal door by your hair and you cried out in pain. When you finally opened your eyes, you realized that your body was pressed against the door of the black car. Someone was in the car and was holding you in place through the open window with an arm wrapped around your neck. You could see an arm holding a gun extend past your head, firing into the dark alley. You looked out into the alley to see Jungkook, V and Suga all hiding behind dumpsters. They poked their heads out occasionally to shoot back at the car. But they couldn't do much. You were being used as a human shield and if they fired too much, they were at risk of shooting you.

Suddenly, another round of gunshots sounded through the alley, but from a different direction. You screamed as they came from your right, and you covered your ears with your hands. The person holding you in place stopped firing, which gave you the opportunity to pull away from his grasp. You got down on all fours and started to crawl away from the car, bracing yourself from the gunshots. When you got far enough, someone grabbed the back of your dress and pulled you forward. You screamed again and started kicking wildly, trying to get away from their grasp.

"Y/N! Stop it, it's me!" Jungkook familiar grumble sounded above you and you looked up to see that he was dragging you behind the dumpster with him. You sighed in relief and quickly crawled behind him, leaning your back against the dumpster. You panted hard and closed your eyes for a few seconds.

When you opened them again, you looked over to see that Jungkook had stood out from behind the dumpster and was shooting hard at something that couldn't see. You heard someone swear loudly and some more revving. Then Jungkook stopped shooting and the chaos died down.

You pulled yourself up and slowly crept out from behind the dumpster. Jungkook and V approached each other and started to inspect each other's weapons, whispering quietly. You looked out into the street to see that the black car was gone, and so was the man in the red suit. However, in its place was one of Suga's SUVs. Jimin and J-Hope got out of the SUV and you realized that they had been the latest series of gunshots that had freed you.

Jimin quickly walked over to you and took your shoulder, inspecting your body for injuries. He gave you a hug and whispered in your ear that he was glad you're safe. You could barely respond as the shock of everything that had happened sank in. It had all happened so fast that you could barely process it.

"Fuck."

Your thoughts vanished when you looked up to see Suga standing near the street, his back tense and his muscles taut. You swallowed as you saw his hands tremble with rage. You took a deep breath and stepped forward.

"I-I'm sorry." You croaked, wrapping your arms around yourself. Suga's head whipped around and you inhaled sharply at his expression. You had never seen so much pure rage in his gaze and you realized that it was all directed at you.

"You idiot." He snarled, taking a few steps forward. "I thought I could trust you, but apparently I was wrong. Did you purposely sabotage this? Haven't we been through this before?"

"I-I... no, I didn't mean for this to happen." You whispered, completely shocked at his tone. You saw his hand shaking at his side and you were expecting him to hit you. You flinched away from him, when suddenly, Jimin stepped in front of you, shielding you from Suga's rage.

"Suga, stop it. It wasn't her fault and you know it." He said calmly. One of Jimin's hands reached back to grab yours and you took it, squeezing it like a lifeline. Suga's eyes saw the interaction and the fire in his eyes only increased, if that was even possible. You swallowed and backed away as Suga turned at the same time and marched back to the car.

You held in your tears as Jimin whispered reassurances to you.

It wasn't your fault. There was no way you could have seen this coming. He's just upset, he'll get over it.

They all went over your head. As you stared at Suga's back, you felt ultimately responsible and you hated yourself for fucking it up.

When you finally returned to the mansion, you didn't say a word to anyone and stumbled straight up to your room for a shower. That night, you barely slept. You kept having nightmares of the gunfight and of Suga's rage towards you. You had to make this right. You and Suga had developed a good relationship and you didn't want it all to fall apart because of tonight's mistake.

The next morning, you made your way to Suga's room. You knocked on the door timidly. When no one answered, you pushed the door open anyway and poked your head inside. You saw him sitting at his desk, his shoulders hunched over. You looked over at the bed to see that it hadn't been slept in all night.

"S-Suga?" You stuttered timidly. Suga raised his head as you stepped fully into the room and shut the door. He stood up from the desk and turned to face you. There were massive bags under his eyes and you felt a pang of worry.

"Did you sleep at all last night?" You asked, approaching him slowly. He didn't look as angry as he did last night, but there was still a distrust in his gaze that made you nervous.

"No." He said tersely. "I was too busy fixing your mistake."

You physically winced at the jab and you looked away. Tears welled up in your eyes at the shame and guilt you felt for screwing the mission up.

"I-I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to mess it all up." You said quietly. Suga scoffed, like he hadn't even noticed the shame on your face. Like he didn't see how broken up you were about all of it.

"Not only did you mess it up, but you enjoyed the whole thing." Suga spat out bitterly. Something clicked in your head and the tears went away. You rotated your head back to him and narrowed your eyes.

"Enjoyed it? What do you mean?" There was something in the way he said it that made you anxious. Something that made your shame diminish, and your anger increase.

"I was watching you the whole time, Y/N. You couldn't get enough of his hands on you. It was disgusting, you're disgusting." He snarled. You blinked and stared in disbelief.

"I... what? You're angry with me for behaving the way you asked me to behave?" You asked, completely taken aback by his anger.

"I asked you to bait him, not throw yourself at him." He muttered bitterly. You felt anger flare up in you and the previous guilt seemed forgotten as you clenched your fists to your sides.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" You shouted. Suga looked up at you, surprised at your raised voice. "You told me to do this, Suga. You told me to bait him into going out the back alley. I did to the best of by ability. And you're upset that I was too slutty? You think I enjoyed that? Are you that fucking dense?"

"Watch your mouth." His eyes narrowed and he crossed his arms. Maybe you were getting a little too angry, but you couldn't believe what you were hearing. After everything that you two had gotten through, after all your trust issues, he was upset with you over the most idiotic thing. And it couldn't help but make you angry.

"No, no I won't. You've given me nothing but shit since the job ended and I won't have it anymore. I did what you asked me to do. I let that man touch me because you asked me to." You protested.

"I didn't tell you to let him touch you. You could have figured out another way." He said, raising an eyebrow. You were practically speechless as you gaped at him. Was he really so misogynistic and dense to think that you enjoyed being bait on a stick? Why was he so adamant about blaming you for everything that went wrong?

"Why are you so angry about this? Why do you even care if he was groping me?" You turned the conversation around and you saw Suga tense. Here it was, this was the can of worms that you had been too afraid to open before. This was the real underlying issue. Why was he really angry about another man groping you?

"I don't care. He was groping you and it looks bad on us. We don't want that kind of shame on our name." It was almost like a slap in the face. You gritted your teeth and clenched your fists.

"You're so full of shit." You spat out aggressively. Suga uncrossed his arms as you saw the anger flare up in his eyes.

"God damnit, will you ever do as I tell you? You have to treat me with respect or—"

"Or what? You'll hit me? You'll lock me up? You know, your threats are getting old, Suga. Maybe that's why this job failed so spectacularly." You snapped, cutting him off.

"God damnit, you drive me crazy!" Suga threw his hands up in exasperation. You hadn't realized it, but all the while that you'd been yelling, the two of you and stepped so close to each other that he nearly hit you when he threw his hands up.

"Why do you always make everything so hard on me? Why do I always have to explain myself to you?" Suga cried out exasperatedly. You shook your head at him.

"Because you never make sense. You're angry with me for following orders and I don't understand why!" You shouted in return.

"Because—fuck..." He trailed off and looked away. You stared at him expectantly and waited for him to elaborate.

Instead, he did something completely off the rocks.

He turned back to you and in one swift motion, he cupped your cheeks and pulled your face to his. Before you could process the movement, he was kissing you.

Your eyes snapped shut on instinct as all thought vanished and the only sensation you could focus on was the feeling of his lips urgently pressing against yours. Your lips reacted instantly to his touch, almost like they'd been starving for his kiss. You almost forgot how to breathe as his lips and tongue worked over yours like he was tuning an instrument. His hands slowly pushed into your hair as your own hands moved on their own accord to wrap around his waist. You were lost in his gentle touch, one so different from the ruthless gang leader you were used to dealing with.

It wasn't until he pulled away that you were forced back into reality. You dropped your hands and reopened your eyes as he stepped back.

"I—why did you do that?" You asked quietly, stepping back. The kiss was magical, but that magic was extinguished when you realized the severity of what's he'd just done. Of what he'd just opened.

When you looked up at him, his expression was all-telling. He was horrified.

"I... I don't know." He whispered, awestruck. Your fingers grazed over your lips and you felt the urge to rush back to him and kiss him again. But you knew that you couldn't. You couldn't go for this. There were so many reasons why this couldn't work. So many reasons why this felt so wrong.

You hadn't realized how many feelings you were harboring for this man. This man who had abused and used you over and over again. Was this some kind of fucked-up Stockholm syndrome? You couldn't actually like him, could you?

"You shouldn't have done that..." You mumbled, stepping further back. Suga made no move to follow you and looked away. It was as you suspected, he regretted the kiss instantly. Did you regret it? No, you couldn't say that you did. If you did, you wouldn't be feeling so sad.

"I—shit, Y/N... that was..." He trailed off as he rotated his head back to you. Your heartbeat skyrocketed and you stumbled backwards.

"You shouldn't have done that." You repeated.

You were about to leave the room when suddenly a shrill ringing sounded through the house. You gasped and jerked at the loud, abrupt sound. As quickly as the sound came, it left and you were left with the ringing still echoing in your ears.

"Shit!"

You turned back to Suga to see that he had dived toward his desk. He started to frantically shove his papers into a duffle bag like his life depended it.

"What was that?" You asked, staring at him incredulously. Suga didn't answer and instead started to run around the room frantically, grabbing papers, clothes, and various other items (weapons included). As you stared at him in surprise, you heard an indistinct sound coming from outside the mansion. Even though it was faint, you instantly recognized it. Police sirens.

"How the fuck did they find us?" Suga swore under his breath. You stumbled backward and reeled in shock. The police were here? How did they find this place? How were you going to escape?

"Y/N! Why are you just standing there? Get moving! Go to the garage, now. We're getting out of here." Suga yelled at you. You didn't need to be told twice. You turned on your heel and bolted out of the door and into the frantic mansion.

Even though there were only six people living in the house, it felt like an army base. You could hear the boys shouting and footsteps from all parts of the house.

"Somebody get a status report on RM and Jin!" You recognized J-Hopes voice from somewhere on the ground floor.

"Still radio silence! I've sent them a warning signal!" Jimin shouted in response from somewhere on the other side of the house.

You ran downstairs and toward the garage when suddenly you rammed into a hard chest. You nearly fell over when you felt Jungkook grab your shoulder to steady you.

"Y/N, what are you doing here? Go to the garage, quickly!" He gave you a light push in the direction of the garage and then took off back into the house.

You watched him go and you felt frozen in time. This couldn't be real, this couldn't be happening. It wasn't possible. It was simply impossible for the police to find the Bulletproof Gang. The gravity of your situation hadn't fully settled in when suddenly, someone shoved your shoulder and brought you back to reality.

You looked up to see Suga barreling past you, his phone tucked between his shoulder and is ear, while carrying a duffle bag in one arm, and a machine gun in the other. Jungkook appeared next to you and grabbed your arm, pulling you along with him. You let him tug you along, glancing slightly at the grey messenger bag over his shoulder.

You realized in an instant that it was your messenger bag with your phone and laptop that you'd had no contact with for weeks. It barely processed why he even had the bag, when you reached the garage and Jungkook released you to climb into the SUV. You paused for a second and stared at the SUV, with all five boys piled inside. The sirens seemed to get louder and you heard a voice through a megaphone sound through the house.

"You have been surrounded. Come out with your hands on your head and no one has to get hurt."

Your heartbeat accelerated as you realized that you could escape now. If you went with the police, if you surrendered, then you could go home. You could finally go back to your life and away from these dangerous men.

"Y/N! What are you waiting for? Let's go!" You looked over at the car to see Suga sticking his head out of the open shotgun door.

You met his eyes and his face fell. He saw the turmoil in your eyes. He saw the indecision in your gaze.

You looked down at the floor as the choice weighed down on your shoulders in those few short seconds.

It was finally time to choose what side you were on.

It was time to decide who you were.
