soldiers of light

We are fireworks
off the coast of the ocean,
exploding colour into
the monochrome stillness,
slipping our pandemonium to
the orderly world.

We are eruptions
in the city of Versailles,
ending war and creating
beginnings,
because the earth is cracking
apart for our glory.

We are glowing
in the shadows
of broken grenades,
assessing the grey
with our neon,
allowing celebration
to otherwise hopeless towns.

We are bursting
with the epiphanies of
hidden treasures,
brighter than the gold in
chests because it is
in our diaphragms instead;
this power to create
another galaxy.

We are flaming
in the cool warmth
of the sea water,
blazing like comets
and shimmering like
the sun, all because we are
soldiers of the light.
