Truth
Again I stumbled down the wrong path,
Tried to hide away from God's wrath,
Hearing all the voices,
Saying "you're out of choices",
But I know that I could have stopped,
Prayed for help, but I did not,
Instead-
I ran back to the past,
Back to what I knew,
Even if I knew it wasn't-
True.
True...
Is there something I can ask you?
Something I can tell you?
Have you ever run away from truth,
To find a lie, you could call "truth",
Just to find out the only one,
The only one you're fooling is-
You.
Why do we keep running from the truth?
For me it's been guilt, selfishness and shame,
Trying to play the "perfect" game,
But in the end, it's all the same,
Another way to cope,
Another way to hope-
That we'll survive,
But I've tried,
And I know,
I can tell you,
That I can do nothing on my own but holler,
Scream in regret,
Laying numb each hour,
Watching the mess I created by my own hand,
Crying trying to understand-
The truth.
The truth is that the pain I knew doesn't work anymore,
That way I used to cope I now hate to my core,
The way I used to think I don't think anymore,
The way I used to feel,
Like I'm sinking in deep waters,
That I can still feel,
But now I'm floating on the surface and it's real!
The sun in the sky, the clouds rolling by,
The light and the beauty of life,
My truth is refined,
And by that I mean changed,
Back to you who first made-
The world, this earth,
Who knew me prior to birth,
Truth that has been around for forever,
And no matter how cleaver,
Our reasons to leave may sound,
It's just us digging our own graves,
Deep under ground,
And it seams like these days,
We keep forgetting that Jesus died for us,
Felt pain like us,
Felt tears like us,
Felt it all yet never sinned,
Died for us so that we who believe,
May be saved and for once-
Believe in a truth that will never leave,
And that we can leave the iniquity that we once craved, for something worth more.
With Gods help we can pray for forgiveness,
Leave what left us broken and soar,
And for once in our lives,
Look into the eyes of the one who had all we ever needed from the start,
Truth
-Inspired by: Hosea 14 1-3 and John 3:16-18
1O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. 2Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.
-Hosea 14:1-3
16¶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
-John 3:16-18
