Feelings; Part 1: Lance
Seeing such a connected group, such a connected family like the Omatikaya, it reminded Lance of his own family back on Earth. He missed them everyday, even more so now that he was at Home Tree. He slowly and carefully clambered up one of the branches, following [Y/N]. They reached their destination. Lance's eyes widened when he saw just a hammock, made of what seemed to be vines or rope. He looked at the Omatikaya female.
"Is this thing going to be strong enough?" He asked. [Y/N] looked at him and smiled.
"Of course. You have nothing to fear, I promise," she reassured. "I will help you first, then, you must learn on your own." She explained. Being the most daring and brave, Shiro stepped forward to go first. [Y/N] held out her hand to him, which he took. [Y/N] helped steady the Paladin, lowering him into the hammock. Once Shiro got situated, he looked up at her and gave a friendly smile.
"Thank you." He said. [Y/N] smiled and gave a nod. One by one, the other Paladins, with the help of [Y/N], descended into their hammocks, slowly nodding off to sleep. Lance was the last one, still hesitant. [Y/N]'s smile fell as she looked at him.
"You seem sad." She observed. Lance looked at her. He then put on a brave face.
"Nah. I'm just stunned by your beauty." He flirted, winking at her. [Y/N] smiled sadly.
"You do not need to put on an act in front of me. I can see in your eyes that you are lonely." She said. Lance's breath caught in his throat. Was it really that obvious? Though, the Omatikaya did seem to be more observant than he ever hoped to be. Lance sighed and chuckled lightly.
"Alright. You got me," he started. He looked up at the stars, shinning above the canopy of Home Tree. "I have a family, a big family, back on Earth, where I'm from," he then looked down. "Seeing the Omatikaya People, they remind me so much of my family at home." He said sadly. [Y/N] looked at him in sympathy.
"What is your family like?" She asked. Lance looked at her.
"My family? Where do I even begin?" He then started to describe his extensive family. From his mother, to his niece and nephew. [Y/N] smiled as he finished describing his family. He suddenly didn't feel as homesick anymore. [Y/N] smiled.
"Though your true family may be far away, you may think of the Omatikaya as your family for now. Family understands, loves, and protects." She said. Lance smiled at her gratefully.
"Thank you," he said. He held out his hand, ready to make the descend. [Y/N] gave a bright smile, taking his hand in her's. Tan skin contrasted with dark blue, glowing skin. [Y/N] lead the Paladin over to his hammock, gently lowering him. Lance lay on his back, looking up at her. She smiled. "Good night, [Y/N]." He said. [Y/N] smiled.
"Sleep well, Lance." She responded. Lance sighed and closed his eyes, ready for what the day would bring tomorrow.
