Feelings; Part 1: Keith
For Keith, climbing up the tree came pretty natural. He wasn't as good at keeping up with [Y/N] or the other Omatikaya yet, but he was faster than the other Paladins. Keith felt so uncomfortable in the loincloth that he wore as part of the clothing for living with the Omatikaya people. He felt bare, like people could see right through him. [Y/N] was kneeling on the balls of her feet, waiting for Keith and the others to catch up. Her tail swished back and forth in a playful manor. The Paladins panted in the effort it took to get up to the hammocks they would be staying in. [Y/N] stood up, facing them.
"This is where we sleep. Do not worry about falling. The vines are strong." She said. She let the Paladins observe how the Omatikaya gracefully descended into the hammocks. She turned to them. "I will help you first, then, you must learn on your own." She explained. Being the most daring and brave, Shiro stepped forward to go first. [Y/N] held out her hand to him, which he took. [Y/N] helped steady the Paladin, lowering him into the hammock. Once Shiro got situated, he looked up at her and gave a friendly smile.
"Thank you." He said. [Y/N] smiled and gave a nod. One by one, the other Paladins, with the help of [Y/N], descended into their hammocks, slowly nodding off to sleep. Keith was the last one, still hesitant. [Y/N]'s smile fell as she looked at him.
"You are troubled by the secret you carry." She said. Keith's eyes widened as he looked at her.
"How do you know?" He asked. [Y/N] smiled sadly.
"I know the look of someone who hides a secret. It took me many months before I revealed my connection with Eywa to the Na'viya." She said, looking away from him. She then glanced up and gave a smile. "You should tell them. They will understand and trust you." She said. Keith looked down, conflicting feelings in his heart. He looked up at the Omatikaya woman.
"How do you know that they won't hate me?" He asked quietly. [Y/N] smiled and looked at the sleeping Paladins.
"They are your friends. Your bonds are strong, like family," she said. She looked at him. "Family understands, supports, and forgives. They will accept you. As I do." She said. Keith gave a rare, yet small smile.
"Thank you," he said. He held out his hand, ready to make the descend. [Y/N] gave a bright smile, taking his hand in her's. Pale skin contrasted with dark blue, glowing skin. [Y/N] lead the Paladin over to his hammock, gently lowering him. Keith lay on his back, looking up at her. She smiled. "Good night, [Y/N]." He said. [Y/N] smiled.
"Sleep well, Keith." She responded. Keith sighed and closed his eyes, ready for what the day would bring tomorrow.
