Act 1: Regret

(So I had planned to write a fairly long Pricefield series, and then Episode 5 happened. I felt like there are several indicators in this episode that Max has a thing for Chloe, let's face it the end broke our hearts if you loved Chloe as much as a good portion of us. Now before I over explain let us read the actual story, I chose Bay over Bae)

Max sits on the edge of the bed, thoughts drifting to and fro as she waits for Chloe to get home. The brunette inspects herself in the mirror across from the bed. She looks like a young woman with freckles and doe-like eyes. 'I look like a normal girl yet I feel like I'm a lot older,' Max ponderously reflects. Max's thoughts then veer to a dangerous place, she begins to recall her prior life her life in Arcadia Bay. The town had been demolished and no one had escaped the storm, it really had been the end of the 'world' or at least that part of it. Despite her only being with Chloe for a week Max chose to forsake all her other friends and leave, seemingly worse for Max her parents think her dead. Max being afraid of what they would say and being dedicated to a life with Chloe by now chose to not correct them. Max has never regretted her decision, she would pick Chloe again if it came down to it. However she does feel liable for destroying the town and for killing all of those people, many were good people, dorky Warren, sweet Kate, concerned Joyce. The list goes on, though Max knows the storm has affected Chloe as well, Joyce has now been taken from her, along with any kind of home she formerly had. Sometimes Max thinks that that Chloe blames her for killing Joyce, though the rebel has never expressed these sentiments.

Chloe walks through the door, almost instantly noticing her friends pensive mood. "Honey I'm home." Chloe announces facetiously. The blue-haired delinquent pulls off her shoes and abruptly flops onto the bed next to Max, shaking the brunette fro her thoughts. "Hey Che." Max offers a smile that doesn't seem convincing to Choe. "Max, are you okay? If you need help with your classes I can totally help, I was a straight-A student back in the day." Max sighs shaking her head nonchalantly, "Chloe it's not that it's nothing." Chloe lets it be, since she doesn't want to be nosy. Chloe goes to the window of the two stary apartment. The sun is setting, the horizon cast in a golden gleam. "Max what do artsists call this again?" Max rises and steps to see what Chloe is talking about, as the both of them look out onto the city of roses a smile composes itself on Max's lips. "The golden hour, isn't it beautiful?" Chloe just nods seemingly dumbfounded, not by the sunset anymore, but instead by Max. It has been months since Max had smiled, and no this simple and sweet moments has made her happy. "It is Max I love it, I love this, us. That we get to live on, making new lives." And then it is gone just like that, a dreadful frown forms on Max's face. "Che we get to live but all of those people died so we could live. Chloe their faces haunt me, I have nightmares almost every night." Max visibly fights the tears, and Chloe's eyes begin to get red as well. "Max they died for us to live, for me to live. I have that on my back to, and my Mom died in that storm. But we can't dwell on the past, we owe them all of them to be happy." Max falls to her knees in tears, Chloe gently catches her and then holds her.

Chloe holds Max for almost an hour, sitting on the ground not talking just being in eachothers presence. Chloe strokes Max's hair as the girls head rests in her lap. "Chloe." Max pipes up finally in a very soft, timid, and vunerable voice, enough to melt Chloe's heart. "Yes Maxmillion?" Chloe adresses her best friend by a nickname in an attmept to lighten the mood. "Do you blame me for Joyce dying?" Max's voice is now filled with a bitter taste of guiltiness. "Why would you ask that Max? Max why did you choose to save me?" Chloe calmly asks without any hint of underlying emotion. Max suddenly opens the floodgates to her mind. "Chloe I'm sorry, I just didn't want to lose you, and now I've hurt you. I just keep making things worse when I think I can control life or any of this, Chloe I promised I'd never leave you. Chloe I l-" Chloe puts a finger to the freckled girl's lips. "Max I know, that sacrifice of everyone, was nothing other than an act of love." Max looks up at Chloe with doe-like eyes, their blue eyes stare into eachother intensely, getting lost in eachother like oceans. Max repositions herself to be eye-level with the blue-haired beauty. Max leans in slowly but feels resitance of Chloe's hands against her shoulders. "You asked me if I blame you for my mom dying earlier. I don't but I have a lot of things I'm dealing with right now. I like you Max, I always have, but I think I'd be toxic for you right now. I need to get my life straight right now." Max leans back and smiles determinedly, " Let me help." This makes Chloe blush at how cute and awesome Max is, "Oh fuck it whatever." Chloe curses before leaning in, the girls clash at the lips. Heat and passion in that single moment that feels like it could last forever for the girls.

Afterwards Chloe watches TV drinking a few beers, and Max works on her photography report. It creeps her out as the text she has to read tonight is by Mark Jefferson. Thoughts of what happened to her in the dark room flash through her mind. Max's skin crawls and she holds herself tight. "Max here stop that work you look wrecked dude, just relax unwind, here." Max accepts the beer with little hesitiance, Max isn't as bad as Chloe but she will have a drink once in a while to relieve stress. As Max downs the brown, bitter liquid, she opens her eyes and noticed Chloe staring at her. The brunette stops drinking, "Chloe you are creeping me out." Chloe blushes then fails to hide it. "S-sorry Max I just have no idea what to do now, are we together?" Max giggles, "well Che it is just you and me together, and we are all we've got." Chloe sighs at Max's seemingly oblivious statement. Then Max kisses Chloe on the cheek, "So of course we're together silly."
