Chapter 12

The wind felt nice on his wings. He missed the feeling, really he did. He was on his street, a week after being pronounced missing. His wings were starting to hurt again and every now and again they felt like they were burning. It was another one of those times and Tommy decided that if West already knew about his wings, why not continue being a vigilante even while missing. Eret was investigating a murder case so he'd be out all night, expecting Tommy to be asleep at home like he has been. Tommy's felt better than he has in a long time recently. He was forced to take food from Eret and he had to shower three times already but he was well rested and he felt cared for. He'd jumped a few times from seeing Eret wander their house without their sunglasses on. Eret always laughed at him or gave him a weird look when he did.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?" Tommy jumped and turned around, seeing Eret walking towards him on his rooftop. Tommy stood up and smiled nervously.

"Enjoying the view. You?" Eret took off their cape and wrapped it around Tommy's shoulders, covering his wings and in the process, making them burn more. "Oi, mind the wings, please." Eret took a deep breath and rubbed his face. When she moved her hands away she glared at Tommy.

"Do you know how dangerous it is to be out here right now?" Tommy raised an eyebrow and pulled the cape tighter around himself. It was kind of cold out but there wasn't much else wrong.

"No?" Eret sighed and gestured at Tommy. "All of West probably knows by now, what's the issue?" Eret groaned and looked around.

"There's a certain hero that visits West all the time to see you specifically." Tommy heard a low humming and took his attention away from Eret, looking down at the street. Walking in the middle of the road was a man wearing all black. Black hoodie, black jeans, black shoes, hair was black, he wasn't black, very white, ghostly white even, he looked like a ghost.

"Is that Corpse?" Tommy glanced at Eret and saw the guy, Corpse, look at Eret too. Finally, a bit of not black on this man. A purple devil mask hiding the right side of his face. It was creepy as hell. Eret jumped off the roof and reached his hand out to Corpse. Tommy jumped down too and Corpse shook Eret's hand.

"What do you two want?" Holy shit he had a deep voice. Deeper than Eret's. Tommy didn't know that was possible. Eret grinned and bowed to Corpse.

"To meet you, of course. You're a legend." Eret's voice was deep but Tommy would never hear it the same again. Corpse looked at Tommy and Tommy shrugged.

"Admittedly, I don't know who you are." Corpse stared at Tommy and grinned.

"I know who you are." The emphasis on you made Corpse's voice slightly less deep. Thank god, Tommy could stop obsessing over his voice. Other thing to focus on now, Eret is a fan girl? And the person he's a fan of know's him and not Eret?

"Well then, who are you?" Corpse reached his hand out and smiled. Tommy shook his hand.

"Corpse. I torture rapists." Tommy froze and stared up at Corpse. Corpse grinned and patted Tommy's shoulder. "And you're the vigilante keeping West clean of them. Well, most of them. Thank you for that." Tommy nodded and Eret chuckled, looking around. Corpse let go of Tommy and looked at Eret.

"When you say torture, you mean..?" Corpse looked back at Tommy and raised an eyebrow.

"I trap them and make them choose between getting raped or cutting their dick off themself. If it's a girl it's getting raped or cutting off their fingers. If they've raped more than 5 people they get raped either way. They always choose to cut off their appendages. Guess rapists don't think it's ok, they just don't care when it's them doing it." Tommy took a deep breath and nodded slowly.

"I.. can't tell if I should turn you in or not." Corpse and Eret laughed and Tommy smiled nervously.

"Most people can't either. It's why I can just roam the streets as a free man. Some hospitals have even started giving male rapists female genitalia and don't offer insurance to female rapists so they can't get prosthetics." Tommy nodded and looked at Eret. Eret looked so excited to be there that Tommy had to wonder why.

"This is awkward." Tommy and Eret spun around to see Themis stood behind them. He didn't have any of his weapons out. He was just standing there looking at all of them. He looked at Tommy and sighed. "Kid, where have you been? It's been a week." Tommy shrugged and Eret backed up to where Corpse was behind them. Tommy stared at Themis blankly.

"I'm sorry, there's a murderer behind me and you're more concerned about the fact I've been missing?" Themis looked at Corpse, then back at Tommy, and shrugged.

"I'm not a murderer I-" "I don't really care about him. It's just Corpse. Where'd you go? I've needed you." Tommy raised an eyebrow and huffed out a laugh.

"Needed me? For what?" Themis looked at Eret and Corpse and sighed.

"Could we talk about this somewhere else, please?" Tommy looked at Eret and Corpse. Corpse looked about ready to run and Eret looked like he was on guard but not going to say or do anything. Tommy looked at Themis and backed up slightly.

"No, if you need me for something then you shouldn't mind saying it in front of them." Tommy felt a hand on his shoulder and saw a black fingerless gloved hand on his shoulder. Must be Corpse, probably ready to drag Tommy away from Themis. Themis sighed and looked around.

"It's a coworker of mine. Tommy? You've met him before. I mean I guess you were out while he was there but he hasn't shown up to work and his roommate told the police he was missing about five days ago. You know West better than I do kid, I could really use your help." Tommy was a bit shocked to hear Themis talk about him to him without making the connection. Whatever worked though, he guessed.

"We know. All of West's undercover detectives are on the case but his roommate is being no help. Even West's police force are getting off their assets to solve the case of, let's be honest, a runaway kid who thinks life will be better outside of L'Manburg." Tommy turned slowly and glared at Eret. Corpse looked confused and Eret shrugged.

"Don't talk about him like that. Who are you to judge a kid who, for all you know, has been kidnapped and is being tortured for information?" Eret scoffed and Tommy looked back at Themis, seeing his pissed off look. Tommy took a deep breath and started pushing Themis away from Eret and Corpse.

"Maybe you're right, let's go talk in private." Themis didn't push Tommy back, so Tommy kept walking him away from the other two. They ducked into an alleyway and Tommy leaned against the wall, immediately jumping away from it at the spike of pain.

"Your back still bothering you?" Tommy looked at Themis and nodded. Themis's expression was worried. He looked really stressed.

"Yeah. I guess Puffy couldn't fully heal it." Themis nodded and looked out the alleyway, making sure Eret and Corpse were minding their business.

"Themis, you don't have to worry." Themis looked at Tommy and Tommy bit his lip. "We already have our best people on the case, and I'm sure you heroes are scrambling to find him if he's your coworker." Themis nodded and Tommy smiled. "Plus, now that I'm off bed rest I'll be able to help out. Tommy will be fine, trust me." Themis smiled slightly and took a deep breath.

"I do trust you. Sorry, everyone's just really stressed. It's our first intern in years and he went missing after day 2. We didn't even tell anyone outside of the tower who got the job, and he's still gone." Tommy smiled apologetically and Themis chuckled humorlessly. "I like Tommy but, it sucks you didn't get the job. At least you'd have enough self defense training to fight people off." Tommy grimaced and put his hand on Themis's shoulder.

"We don't know he was taken yet. Maybe he's just around here somewhere, going through a rough patch." Themis shrugged and Tommy hugged Themis. Themis tensed up for a moment but hugged back, relaxing slightly. Tommy smiled as Themis hid his face in Tommy's shoulder. Tommy ran his fingers through Themis's hair and Themis hugged him tighter. Tommy grimaced and pulled his wings tight against his back.

"You guys ok?" Tommy looked at Corpse and nodded. Themis moved away from Tommy and leaned on the wall of the alleyway. Tommy raised his eyebrow and looked around Corpse.

"Where's the other guy?" Corpse looked behind himself and held up a thumbs up, then turned back to Tommy.

"Well they're grumpy about this Tommy guy so he figured it was better that I come over to check on you two since I don't know the guy." Tommy hummed and nodded. Made sense.

"What are you even still doing here?" Corpse looked at Themis and shrugged.

"Well this is the street in West most famous for women who fear for their lives to go to. Why wouldn't I be here?" Tommy hummed and Corpse looked at him.

"We should all hang out here, on the roof. That way if someone's in trouble the perpetrator won't get away because they see us before we see them." Corpse nodded and pointed behind himself.

"I'm going to get the crown guy then. Does he like, have a name or something?" Tommy hummed and shrugged.

"Not one she wants Themis to know, I'm sure." Themis looked at Tommy and Corpse and moved off the wall.

"Are you two talking about the same person, or is there someone else?" Tommy looked at Themis and snorted.

"One person, all pronouns." Themis looked confused but nodded anyways. Corpse left the alleyway and Tommy made his way onto the roof, Themis following behind.

"So, you're talking to villains now?" Tommy sat on the roof and looked at Themis.

"I didn't know he was a villain at first. He's not a bad guy." Themis sat beside Tommy and they looked down at Eret and Corpse talking.

"He hurts people, kid. I don't mean to pry but you shouldn't be around him. It could mess up your moral code." Tommy furrowed his eyebrows and looked at Themis.

"Right. As if heroes don't hurt people." Themis looked at Tommy and took a sharp breath.

"I didn't mean it like that. Heroes have a cause, there's a set of rules in place for us-" "That get broken all the time." Themis sighed and looked away from Tommy. "Yes, but the rules that are broken are harmless." Tommy glared at Themis and huffed.

"Not all of them." Themis frowned and looked back where Eret and Corpse had been, not seeing either of them. He tensed up and looked around.

"You guys and your rules are so boring." Themis and Tommy looked back at Eret and Corpse. Corpse was staring at Themis and Eret moved to sit next to Tommy. Eret gently laid his hand on Tommy's back and rubbed Tommy's back. Tommy was a bit shocked that it didn't hurt, and took the chance to lean into Eret's hand and accept the comfort.

"Hero's rules are a sensitive subject. Could we move on, please?" Tommy looked down at the street and bit his lip. Corpse and Themis dropped the subject at Eret's command and everyone was quiet for a bit. It was peaceful in a way. Tommy knew he shouldn't be comfortable with the situation he was in, but he was. He felt more comfortable than he had been when it was Tubbo and Ranboo sat on this roof with him.

"Do you not know how to sit or something? It's creepy." Tommy looked at Themis and saw him staring at Corpse, who was stood behind them still. Corpse rolled his eyes and sat next to Eret.

"Sorry that not everyone likes sitting on the edge of a roof. You know how many people have tried to kill me?" Tommy sighed and leaned against Eret, resting his head on Eret's shoulder. He was tired. He was always tired though so it didn't surprise him. He needed to do something to get his energy up.

"It's just us four and all three of us are sat down. I think you're fine." Tommy yawned and looked at a lady walking alone down the street. There didn't look to be anyone following her. Hopefully they fucked off when they realized where she was going. Tommy hoped people didn't start becoming smart. He'd have to start telling women to go to a different street then. The lady looked around, and looked up at the roof all of them were on. She smiled and walked to the front of the building.

"Excuse me, whichever one of you frequents here, could you come down?" Tommy sat up and looked at the other three, who were all staring at him. He grimaced and jumped down, coming face to face with the woman. She smiled and extended her hand.

"My name is Hannah. I just wanted to come find you and thank you for helping a friend of mine a few weeks ago." Tommy shook her hand and smiled. "I know you're selectively mute so don't worry about responding. I don't know sign language anyways." Tommy nodded and let go of her hand. She seemed nice.

"I think you're doing a good thing here, and trust me when I say that all of the women in West would come to your rescue if the hero up there turned his back on you." Tommy looked up at Themis, who was watching him intently. Tommy looked at Hannah and nodded. Tommy pulled out his phone and went into google, typing out 'I'm always happy to help you all, and thank you but I think me and him are on good terms. I'll keep that in mind though' before showing it to Hannah. She grinned and nodded.

"Of course. Also, tell Corpse I said hi. I'm so happy that you two have met, my friend has just been going on and on about you two getting along." Tommy nodded and the woman waved goodbye before walking away. Tommy watched her go and climbed back onto the roof, sitting back next to Eret.

"You a celebrity amongst the women?" Tommy smiled and shrugged. Maybe he shouldn't brag to Corpse of all people, but there was nothing wrong with it so why not.

"What can I say? Chicks dig me. Oh, she said hi Corpse." Corpse hummed and looked at Hannah. His humming was absolutely terrifying, but that was just his vibe in general. Eret moved his hand back to Tommy's back and Tommy leaned against them again.

"I'm a bit confused, I know Corpse and I know you but, who is this?" Eret chuckled and Tommy looked at Themis. Themis was staring right back at him.

"You seriously have not connected the dots yet?" Themis shook his head and Tommy looked at Eret. "You're good at this." Eret grinned and nodded.

"Sometimes I practice on people. Remember when you broke your ankle?" Tommy furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head. "Exactly." Tommy stared at Eret and sighed, before looking back at Themis. Themis still looked confused and Tommy almost laughed at him.

"Memory person." Themis hummed and nodded slowly. He obviously had no fucking idea what Tommy was on about. Tommy was so disappointed in him.

"That makes sense. You two seem really close." Tommy nodded and looked down at the street. Guess Themis did understand. Just being judgemental. Themis's tone sounded almost accusatory. It was confusing.

"We've known each other longer than he's known you. We're simply allies, like you and him are." Tommy rested his head on Eret's shoulder again and looked up at him, seeing her glaring at Themis. They were being weird in Tommy's opinion.

"Well come to think of it, there were a few months where I was with him a lot, and I never saw you around." Eret's glare hardened and Tommy looked back down at the street. Of course he knew what was happening now.

"As far as you know, Themis, I have the ability to be around you as much as I desire and you would never know about it. This is my fifth time being face to face with you, but you're only aware of two times. How do you know that I haven't been around him this whole time, and you just don't remember it?" Tommy curled his hand into a fist and stared at the street. In a selfish way, Tommy wished there'd be someone down there to help so he could get away from Themis and Eret.

"I know because you just said it's only your fifth time seeing me face to face. If you were there this whole time, it would have been a lot more. Just because you're trying to play hero now doesn't mean you always were one." Tommy tensed up and Corpse sighed loudly.

"Would you two put your dicks away? No use comparing sizes when all you're doing is upsetting the one you're fighting over." Tommy relaxed slightly and smiled, trying not to laugh. "What's so funny?" Tommy laughed and moved away from Eret, doubling over himself in laughter.

"Sorry man, that's just hilarious coming from you." Tommy laughed harder and rubbed his eyes. "Fuck, I'm sorry. Never made a dick joke again. I'm way too young for that shit." Tommy stood up and walked to the other side of the roof, still laughing along the way. He stood on the edge of the roof and worked to calm himself down. He knew the others were probably watching him but he didn't really care. Tommy took a deep breath and relaxed his face before turning back to the others. He was right, they were watching him.

"I think it's about time you two should go. Corpse and I will watch this place and then go our separate ways, but I don't want to see either of you at the moment." Themis frowned and Eret looked disturbed. They both stood up and Corpse smiled at Tommy, giving him a thumbs up. Tommy kept a straight face.

"I'm not leaving you here alone with him." Themis pointed at Corpse and Corpse rolled his eyes.

"I'm not leaving at all. You're still supposed to be on bed rest, you're exhausted, you won't be able to make it home." Tommy sighed and Themis looked at Eret.

"He's still supposed to be on bed rest?" Eret nodded and Themis looked at Tommy. "I could take you to Puffy again?" Tommy shook his head and Eret sighed.

"She wouldn't be able to do anything about it. She healed him as much as she could but the injury caused him to adapt to be able to live with it, and now he has to adapt to not dealing with it. It's painful because he keeps doing things he did with the injury that hurt now without it." Themis nodded and sighed.

"Then I'm not leaving either. Sorry, you're stuck with us." Tommy sighed and jumped onto the roof beside them, pulling out his phone, turning it back on, and looking back at the other three.

"Fine. I'm just making a quick phone call though." Eret and Themis nodded and Corpse motioned them to sit back down. They did, and after a moment of thought Tommy pressed on Wilbur's contact. The phone rang, and Tommy got ready to give his best frantic call yet. Tommy had taken the time to make it so his phone always said he was in some abandoned warehouse that, while Eret was gone one day, he went to and feigned a crime scene. So that in case of an emergency, he could make it seem like he got to his phone and then got caught. Tommy glanced at the other three, seeing none of them watching him, and silently got off the roof. The phone was still ringing by the time he snuck into a building.

"Tommy?? Where have you been?!" Tommy took a deep breath. Showtime. Tommy sped up his breath and made his voice higher in pitch.

"Wil? Hey, it's so good to hear you man. Uh, I'm in a bit of a pickle. Some fuckers confused me for a gang member. They think I know shit." Tommy heard a bunch of rustling and running. A door opened and slammed shut and there was the loud clicking of a keyboard.

"Ok, do you know where you are? Are you currently safe?" Tommy panted and coughed quietly.

"No, I have no fucken idea. They're not nocturnal, I'm pretty sure they're asleep. I'm going to go find out." Tommy coughed again, making it sound as strained as possible.

"NO, Tommy. Do not move from where you are. I've tracked this call, I'm going to send people to you." Tommy pushed a random bat off it's shelf, creating a loud noise as it crashed to the ground. Sports store. Nice. Tommy pressed a button for a recorder he had in his belt, and a loud HEY sounded from it, giving the illusion he'd been caught. Tommy picked up the bat and ran through the store, whispering curse words to make Wilbur think he was in trouble. Tommy then dropped his phone and yelled SHIT, smashing the bat next to the phone and hanging up the call. Tommy threw the bat aside and turned off his phone completely before picking it up. Tommy looked around the store and shrugged, walking out the way he went in.

Tommy looked around the empty alleyway, putting his phone in his pocket and making his way back on the roof. Only Corpse was sat at the other roof. Tommy was confused and went onto the other roof, standing beside Corpse.

"Corpse?" Corpse looked at him and waved. "Where are the other two?" Corpse looked around and shrugged.

"Don't know. They realized you were gone and thought you ditched us so they're looking for you now. I saw you leave and told them not to worry but they did anyways." Tommy nodded slowly and sat beside Corpse. "HE'S BACK" Tommy flinched at Corpse yelling and sighed, running his fingers through his hair. Tommy sat back down next to Corpse and sighed.

"I wasn't ditching you guys, just wanted some fucken privacy." Corpse hummed and nodded. "Whenever either of them are around me, they don't stop hanging on to me. It's so annoying." Corpse chuckled and shrugged. He was pretty interesting. Tommy hoped they'd talk again after this.

"They care about you. You said you were young?" Tommy nodded and looked at Corpse. Corpse was looking at him and cracking his knuckles.

"16. Don't tell absolutely anyone you know that though." Corpse smiled and nodded shortly.

"That's really young to be out here saving lives. How'd you get into it?" Tommy shrugged and took a deep breath.

"I don't know actually. It's been years. Almost four years actually. I think I'd helped someone and they called me a hero so I kept doing it because the happiness on their face was worth more to me than anything else." Corpse smiled and nodded. He leaned back and pressed his hands against his lower back, making a loud cracking sound.

"That's nice. Themis is like five buildings down so, prepare to be smothered." Tommy groaned and Corpse laughed. Tommy was enjoying talking to Corpse. It was a nice change of pace. Themis landed on their roof a minute later and immediately pulled Tommy up by his shoulders.

"They found Tommy, we have to go." Corpse stood up quickly and moved Tommy away from Themis. Tommy latched on to Corpse's hoodie and looked at Themis. He seemed very distressed and based on the call Tommy made not long ago, he didn't have to wonder why.

"You mean the kid you were bitching about? What happened?" Themis took a deep breath and grabbed Tommy's hand, yanking him to his side.

"I'll explain on the way, we need to leave now." Tommy saw Eret a few buildings away and pushed away from Themis slightly.

"Is he in danger?" Themis nodded and Tommy took a deep breath. As a vigilante of West, he'd obviously feel the need to help his citizen, but he'd also be expecting danger for himself as well. "I can't go. There are going to be heroes, we'll be caught." Themis stared at Tommy, distraught. Tommy had to stand his ground.

"Wait, the heroes don't know about this?" Eret ran up to Tommy and hugged him loosely, being mindful of his back. Themis shook his head at Corpse's question and Tommy pulled Eret aside, whispering in their ear.

"Erase Themis's memory of me making a phone call, please." Eret bit his lip and looked at Themis, whispering back to Tommy.

"Isn't this a bad time?" Tommy shook his head and looked at Themis. If he brought Eret, he could make all of them forget that she and Tommy were there, and could make Themis forget about the call. That way he's still in the clear.

"Yes, let's go with him to the warehouse and make anybody there forget we were there and make Themis forget about the call there, that way we're completely in the clear and they get their information." Eret furrowed their eyebrows and looked at Tommy.

"Warehouse?" Tommy walked over to Themis and put his hand on Themis's shoulder. Themis looked at him with a certain determination in his eyes.

"If you're coming, then come but I'm going now so-" "We are coming." Themis relaxed slightly and nodded. Corpse crossed his arms and looked between all of them.

"Don't expect me to join in. It was nice to meet you two, hopefully we meet again someday. All I hope with Themis is that I don't meet him again behind bars." Themis nodded and Eret walked over to Tommy and Themis.

"Let's go."
