Who Am I?
MORGAN RIDER grew up in Las Vegas where she had many fabulous adventures as the daughter of a locally-celebrated musician. She has 23 works published on Wattpad, including her Greek mythology-inspired romance, Lexi's Undoing, and her 2015 Wattys winner, Neon Girl, a story loosely based on her misspent youth. When she isn't writing, you will find her hanging out with the Bootcamp Mentors community on Wattpad and Discord.

7 QUESTIONS

1. What prompted you to start writing on Wattpad and what do you like most about the platform as a writer?

I had outgrown my critique group and was desperate for different opinions on my work. I read an article about Wattpad and that Margaret Atwood had endorsed it as a nurturing environment for new writers, so I signed up and started sharing my work here.

I love the writer/reader interaction found on the platform. You really can't find it anywhere else, and I believe the community of readers help encourage these budding writers to continue working at their craft. Speaking of communities, the writing communities that have grown out of the platform are next level, and I will continue to promote and support them as long as they'll have me.

2. What has been your most rewarding Wattpad experience?
There are so many, but I will narrow it down to two. Becoming a Wattpad Star has allowed me to grow my audience and meet the most enthusiastic readers on the planet. And I cannot leave out my experience as a Wattpad Ambassador. That community is unlike any other I've ever known. These folks work tirelessly behind the scenes running activity-based profiles, giving writers opportunities to showcase their work, and helping to make sure Wattpad is a safe place for everyone. 

3. If you had to describe your story in three words, what would they be?
Swoony, Spirited, Complicated

4. Tell us one thing about your writing process that has helped you the most.
After I outline my story, I plot out each chapter before I write it. Knowing what each character is going to do, why they're doing it, and how each scene forwards the overall plot helps me come up with dialogue easier, and the words seem to flow more naturally.

5. What is your proudest moment as a writer? Do you have a memory you will never forget?
My proudest moment is a secret that I am under contract not to reveal...yet. So I will share another proud moment, which was winning a Watty!

6. Which of your books is your favourite, and why that one?
Courtesan of War is my favorite novel. It's my first attempt at historical romance (Regency Era England). I let myself have fun with the female MC, giving her eloquent speech and a fighting spirit at a time when women were not given much voice.
