Chapter 29
Hello! I'm back with a new chapter for you all! I'm really excited to get into this one. It's dramatic and funny and was such a a blast to write. I hope that you all enjoy it as well. I'll keep this note short and let you read the chapter!
Then: Pyeongchang
Changbin stands in the middle of an empty field with tall grass. He is garbed in a black t-shirt and form fitting sweatpants in the same color. There's a baseball cap snug on his head. "I'm glad you came," A voice says as a figure garbed in light gray makes his way out of a tuft of grass.
"Minho-ssi, why did we have to meet here?" Changbin asks.
"How would it look, Changbin-ssi, for a demon and an angel to be meeting up? Especially with the heightened tensions between us recently," Minho says.
Changbin sighs, "This wouldn't have been an issue-,"
"Don't tell me that you actually believe angels are behind these numerous demon slayings," Minho says.
Changbin shakes his head, "I don't, but who else is there to blame. Hunters are good, but they honestly can't do much against massive amounts of us."
"Well, I don't know who it is, but it wasn't us," Minho states.
"Are you sure? After what happened to Yoon Jisung, your feathered friends didn't seem so happy."
"They're not," Minho says, "They're pissed off, but they wouldn't retaliate by killing another demon. Angels aren't petty like that."
"But, you are," Changbin mumbles.
"I heard that," Minho huffs, "I didn't come here to argue about who's to blame for this. We both know that angels and demons have their issues with one another. We have issues with each other."
"You can say that again," Changbin mutters.
"I wouldn't doubt for a second that one of our races is behind the first attack and then vice versa for the next and so forth," Minho says, "At this point, it doesn't matter who is to blame for the deed. Things have been boiling up in heaven and I'm sure it's the same way in hell. It's only a matter of time before the angel race and demon decide to have at it."
"Leaving the humans stuck right in between," Changbin finishes.
"Exactly," Minho says, "We need to stop that from happening. The angels are too prideful to step down and the demons too bloodthirsty."
"Then, how do you expect us to put a stop to this?" Changbin asks, "That is why you called me, isn't it? To stop an all-out angel demon war?"
"Yes," Minho says, "And to how we are actually going to do it...I'm still figuring it out."
"Great," Changbin huffs, "I'm sure the human race will just wait patiently as you try to come up with something to make sure they don't get wiped out."
"Hey! It's not as easy said as done," Minho states.
Changbin shakes his head, "Angels."
"Demons," Minho hisses.

Now
"Hyung," Felix says, glancing over at his cousin who is reading Wonpil's journal which sits in his lap. Chan hums in response, his eyes not moving from the page he's reading. Felix clears his throat a bit and shifts in his seat, "About Wonpil."
"What about him?" Chan asks.
"Well, I don't know him personally and what I've learned about him is from what you've told me and what is written in his journal," Felix says, "But, I started forming my own opinion on him..." Chan looks up from his book and at his cousin. His eyebrows furrows in confusion, not really getting why Felix is telling him this. "I didn't want to tell you cause I didn't want to like piss you off or anything, but after what you said when we were leaving Wonpil's alpha warehouse, I thought that maybe it'll be okay to tell you."
"Tell me what?" Chan questions, "There's nothing wrong with coming up with some idea of Wonpil, Lix. You never met him. I would do the same thing if I were in your position."
Felix lets out a breath, "My view on him isn't good, Chan hyung."
"What do you mean by that?" Chan asks.
"It's just that I know nothing about that shifter family or the hellhound was confirmed, but after finding Wonpil's torture chamber, I feel like our predictions about his involvement are true," Felix says. Chan frowns at this, but doesn't say anything. He slowly nods his head. Felix glances over at his cousin, "Are you mad?"
"Why would I be? It's your opinion," Chan says.
"I think it's fact, hyung," Felix says in a quiet tone.
"Yeah," Chan murmurs.
"Yeah," Felix says, "It's just that everything is saying that he's become one of those crazy hunters that go after every monster without any mercy."
Chan sighs, "As much as I want to argue with you about that, I can't. I'm just torn, Lix. On one hand, he's my friend. On another, I know that he's done some very horrible things. I just want to live in this oblivious innocence of not knowing..."
"You can't though," Felix says.
"I know," Chan says, "But, just cause I have my suspicions of my old friend doesn't mean their true. I'm holding onto that hope even if it's slipping from me. Just until we know without a doubt what Wonpil was doing."
Felix nods his head, "That's fine by me." The car falls silent after that, neither of them talking as they make their way down the road. The silence is ruined by the sound of ringing coming from the glove compartment of the car. Chan opens it and digs through the large amounts of phones stored inside. He finds an old black flip phone and takes it out. He opens it and places the call on speaker, "Minho?"
"Chan-ah!" Minho exclaims, "Where are you?"
"Um...we're heading to Daegu," Chan says, "Why?"
"Do you think you could make a stop in Pyeongchang?" Minho questions
"Really? Asking for help?" A muffled voice huffs.
"Shut up," Minho scolds.
Chan frowns, "Is that Changbin?" Felix's eyebrows raise in surprise, not expecting for the angel to be hanging out with the demon. "Hey, Chan!" Changbin calls out.
"What's going on?" Felix asks, "Why are you two together? Is something wrong?"
"We'll explain when you get here," Minho says, "You are coming, right?" Chan looks over at Felix, who shrugs, indifferent to if they go or not. The blonde sighs, "We'll be there soon."
──────●◎●──────
"What the heck is that?" Felix asks as he and Chan are let inside to a medium sized motel room by Minho. The area is small and fairly simple. The decor in a neutral brown shade. The most eye-catching thing in the room is the large bowl which is filled with an assortment of objects which is engulfed in a lavender colored flame. "Courtesy of Hyunjin," Changbin says, "A little spell he created that works just like normal wardings. It makes sure that no outside angels or demons will be able to sense us."
"Hyunjin?" Felix questions with raised eyebrows. He looks over at his cousin, who sighs and mouths the word later. "What's going on?" Chan asks, "Why do you need wardings against your own races? And why did you need us so badly?"
"Have you guys not seen the news?" Minho questions, "I thought you would've noticed by now."
"We've been busy following Wonpil's trail," Felix says.
"About that," Changbin says, "I've been meaning to get back to you, but I never got the chance. Wonpil's soul isn't in hell."
"Are you sure?" Chan asks.
Changbin nods, "I double checked. He isn't there."
"Great," Chan murmurs, "That means Wonpil is still wandering around somewhere here or something like that..."
"We can figure that out later," Minho says in a loud voice, "If we don't deal with this situation now, everyone is going to end up as souls."
"What is the situation exactly?" Felix asks.
Changbin answers calmly, "There's been numerous reports about it online. Dead bodies found with their eyes burnt out. People lying dead on top of a scorched image of wings."
"All cause of an increase in angel and demon tensions," Minho sighs, "I don't even remember who died first, but an angel or demon got killed by the other race. The culprit refused to confess when questioned by the victim race, so they retaliated. This has continued back and forth for the past few months. Angel death, demon death, angel, demon, on and on and on."
"It's gotten to the point where both the angels and demons are ready to declare war on one another," Changbin says, "And I am telling you now that no demon is going to care about a human getting in the line of crossfire."
"Same with the angels," Minho says, "It's only a matter of time before this blows up and we need to do something to stop it. We need all the help we can get here."
"So, you called us?" Chan questions, "I'm willing to help, but come on guys. Felix and I are hunters, but we're still human. How much can we do?"
"That's what I said," Changbin huffs, "But, feathers thought it would be a good idea to call you since he couldn't come up with a plan to stop this mess."
"You're not exactly helping me, you black-eyed freak," Minho scowls. Changbin growls at this and takes a step towards the angel. "Hey, guys," Chan says in an even tone, "We don't have time to argue amongst each other. You said that hardcore fighting could happen between the angels and the demons. Meaning, we don't have time to waste. Put this aside until later. Please." The angel and the demon both take a step back and lower their heads, knowing that the hunter is right. They need to focus on stopping their races from destroying all of Earth. Something that is far from an easy task. "Okay, any ideas?" Chan asks, "We're going against the entirety of angel and demon kind here so this has to be like mind blowing..."
"We could lock up hell," Minho states with a smirk creeping onto his face.
Changbin frowns, "I say we lock up heaven."
"Guys..." Chan says in a warning tone.
"I'm being serious," Minho huffs, "It would solve our issue."
"Why is it that the demons need to be locked up and not the angels?" Changbin says, "And do not say it's cause God is your father!" Minho scrunches up his nose at this and crosses his arms over his chest. Chan sighs and massages his temples, at this rate, they might as well just give up and sign their death warrants. "I have a suggestion," Felix says, "It's not really jaw-dropping, but like it may work."
"Explain," Minho says.
"When Chan and I were younger, we would always sneak cookies from our grandma," Felix says, "She would come over to us and ask us which one of us took them. Neither of us wanted to take the fault for it, so we blamed Chan hyung's dog Berry."
"That's a nice story freckles," Minho says, "But, what does this have to do with stopping the angel demon war?"
"We can do the same thing in this situation," Felix says, "The angels and demons are both blaming one another for this. We need to find someone different for them to point their fingers at."
"Do you actually think that angels and demons would fall for that?" Chan asks, "When we blamed Berry, I don't even think grandma believed it, but she just like let us go cause it was her and she was our grandmother."
"If we find a convincing scapegoat, then I think the demons and angels would trust our words and stand down," Felix says, "I also just so happen to have the perfect person to point our fingers at too."
"Who?" Changbin questions.
"Wonpil," Felix states.
Chan's eyes widens, "What?"
"It works out perfectly," Felix says, "He's already gone, so the angels or demons won't toss over the world to try to find him. He's a hunter too. They won't find it completely unbelievable if we pin it on him. Not to mention, he already has history with killing angels if you recall the one he killed that was guarding the gate."
"But, Wonpil could never kill massive amounts of demons and angels," Chan states.
"They don't know that," Felix says, "If we chose our words right, they'll believe us and the problem will be solved."
Chan sighs, "Can we not use Wonpil? It is rude to do such a thing. He's dead and you want to ruin his name by doing this."
"It isn't ruining his name," Felix says, "He was a hunter. He kills things that aren't human for a living. That includes demons and angels."
"I just can't believe that you would even suggest using him like this," Chan shakes his head, "He was my friend."
"C'mon, Chris, I'm just trying to be sensible here," Felix says, "He's a perfect scapegoat."
"I won't do that to him," Chan says back.
"Why are you being so stubborn?" Felix questions, his voice getting louder.
Chan chuckles, "Maybe cause you want to blame my dead friend for something he didn't do."
"I'm sure if Wonpil was still alive now, he would be okay with it," Felix says, "This is the rest of the humanity we're talking about. Anyone would be willing to take the fall if it could save others,"
"Then, why don't we say you did it," Chan says simply.
Felix frowns, "Really?"
"You said anyone would be willing? Doesn't that include you?" Chan asks.
"A couple of months ago, I was in Australia," Felix states, "And the incidents have been happening here for how long?"
"A while," Changbin answers, "It's just gotten more intense recently, but it began before you came to Korea."
"See!" Felix exclaims, "It needs to be Wonpil."
"No, it doesn't," Chan says through gritted teeth.
"You know Wonpil did bad things," Felix huffs, "Blaming him would honestly not be that horrible."
"It doesn't matter," Chan says, "He was still my friend and friends don't throw each other under the bus."
"Are you even friends though?" Felix questions, "He's changed a lot since you left Korea. I mean his younger brother has no idea about the things he's done. You never had a clue. He killed innocents. He owned a torture chamber. I don't know, but that doesn't sound like the friend Kim Wonpil you made in Korea."
"That isn't the point!" Chan hisses. Minho and Changbin frown, watching as the cousins begin to bicker and shout at one another. "Then, what is?!" Felix states, "We don't have time to waste here and he is the perfect candidate."
"Well, I disagree," Chan glares, "So drop it."
"I won't when Wonpil has to be the one we blame," Felix says, "Just cause you're too unwilling to accept it doesn't mean that he isn't the one. Sometimes you need to make decisions for the better of everyone regardless if they're your friend or not." Chan narrows his eyes and shakes his head. He starts to walk across the room and towards the bathroom, wanting to get away from his cousin. Along the way, he bumps into the table causing it to shake. The bowl swivels around a bit before tipping over and onto the floor with a loud clang. The four all stare at it with wide eyes as the purple flame dies out along with the spell. "Great," Changbin mutters.
"Ah!" Minho gasps, gripping the sides of his head.
Chan's eyes widen, "Are you okay?"
Minho nods, still holding onto his temples, "Angel radio. The spell was blocking it off, but as you can see...not anymore. Oh, shit..."
"What is it?" Felix asks.
"We have a problem," Minho states in a grim tone.
I just love bringing in the rest of the SKZ members into this story. We still haven't met all of them, but we did get another hint about Hyunjin. Let me know any theories you have about him! Also, dramarama with the angels and demons. You'll need to wait to see what this big issue is. Thank you all for reading this chapter. I hope you enjoyed. If you did please vote, comment, follow me, add this story to your library and check out my One-shots books. Until next time! Bye!
