Chapter 27

Sam, Gabriel, and Balthazar are all sitting in the twin's bedroom. Gabriel is lying on his back on the bottom bunk, his head hanging off the edge, with Balthazar sitting next to him. Sam is lying on the floor in front of them.
"Whatcha wanna talk about?" Gabriel asks.
"I don't know," Sam and Balthazar say at the same time.
"Well, fat lot of help you are," Gabriel says sarcastically. "Wanna watch a movie or something?"
"Sure," the other two say in unison.
Gabriel laughs and crawls off the bed, digging through movies by the tv. Sam and Balthazar wait silently for his first suggestion.
"You guys can talk, you know," Gabriel tells them without turning around.
"I know," they reply at the same time.
"If I didn't know better, I would have thought you two were the twins," Gabriel jokes. "Go! Socialize!"
They both roll their eyes at him and look at each other, attempting to do as Gabriel said.
"So..." Balthazar says awkwardly.
"So..." Sam repeats in the same tone.
"What do you like to do?" Balthazar asks, the most overused conversation starter in the history of talking ever.
Sam shrugs, which looks weird lying in the floor. "Video games?" He tries to think of more, but he really doesn't do much besides talk to people. "Wow, my life is boring. I guess I don't do a whole lot."
"I thought you were going to say Gabriel," Balthazar jokes.
Sam laughs, embarrassed but amused. Balthazar said it in a friendly way, something he doesn't do much; at least to Sam. Sam can't help but be grateful that he seems to not hate him anymore.
"Not cool, bro," Gabriel says.
"It was a good one," Sam protests. "Nicely done."
Balthazar grins proudly. "Thank you, thank you very much."
"Oh, God, Elvis?" Sam gags.
"Wait, that's an Elvis thing?"
Sam laughs. "Yeah, you didn't know that?"
Balthazar shakes his head. "No, I didn't. And to think, I've been saying that for years."
"See, we don't need a movie!" Gabriel says with a grin as he flops back down on the bed. "Let's just talk like civilized people."
"I'm not civilized," Sam says.
"I'm not a person," Balthazar adds.
"If you're not a person, what are you?" Gabriel asks.
"If you say an angel, Michael is going to kill you," Sam adds.
"I wasn't going to break the wall!" Balthazar whines. "No, I'm a cat."
"What?" The other two say in unison.
"Meow, meow," Balthazar says.
"Meow mew-meow mow mew," Gabriel replies.
"Ugh, how dare you?" Balthazar asks in mock offense.
"I'm sorry?" Gabriel says uncertainly.
"You better be," Balthazar replies in a falsely threatening tone.
"Okay, don't hurt me!" Gabriel says, putting his hands up in surrender.
"I'm so confused right now," Sam laughs.
"Me too, Samoose, me too."
"Samoose?" Balthazar repeats.
"Yes, Samoose!" Gabriel replies defensively. "Cuz he's Sam. And he's a moose. He's Samoose!"
"Is this supposed to be a Pillowpets parody?" Balthazar asks.
"No, but now that you mention it..." Gabriel says.
"Don't start singing!" Sam and Balthazar both yell, but Gabriel sings the Pillowpet theme song with the name Samoose anyway.
"Why did I ever decide to be your friend?" Sam asks in mock exasperation.
"Because I'm awesome!" Gabriel replies.
"Gotta disagree on that one," Balthazar says.
Gabriel puts his hands over his heart as if he's been shot, which looks weird because he's hanging off the edge of the bed again. "Ouch, guys. Words hurt."
"Trust me, if you sing that again, you'll be hurt by more than just words," Balthazar warns him.
"It's a Sam, it's a moose, it's a Sa-"
Balthazar jumps on him and Gabriel groans, trying to push him off. Balthazar doesn't move, though, and Sam laughs, amused at the brothers' friendship.
"Help!" Gabriel squeaks.
"Nah, I'm good," Sam replies.
"No one can stop me now!" Balthazar cries, laughing evilly for effect.
"What, are you taking over the world or something?" Sam asks.
"I wasn't, but now that you mention it..." Balthazar smiles mischievously.
"Sam! Don't give him any ideas!" Gabriel says.
"Too late," Sam replies. "Hey, when you take over the world, can I have Spain?"
"Awkward," Balthazar says. "See, when I take over the world, there's not gonna be a Spain. How about France?"
"I don't speak French!" Sam whines.
"You speak Spanish?" Balthazar says, impressed.
"No, why?" Sam replies, grinning.
"What? But you just-"
"Never question the ways of the Sam," Gabriel warns him. "Never."
Balthazar laughs. "Noted."
A/N I've got to stop writing when I'm sick cuz I don't know what this is.
