Chapter 20
Prepare for some fluff ;)
Surprisingly, there's no exciting news from Charlie this morning. She calmly sits down in her seat, not pulling out any papers to show Castiel. Instead, she jams out to her music through one earbud, the other one out so she can listen for instructions. Castiel watches, amused.
When the bell rings, he looks around at who decided to show up in his class today. Seven people today. He searches for the two extra guests, then frowns when he sees who they are.
"Why's it never the quiet ones?" Castiel complains. "Like Michael. Or Metatron. I would even take Metatron."
"They're too good for ditching," Gabriel replies.
"Well, can you guys start being too good for ditching?" Castiel asks hopefully.
"But Mr. Winchester was in a really bad mood yesterday, and I don't want to deal with it," Gabriel tells him.
"He threatened to throw a ball through me," Lucifer adds.
Castiel chuckles. Wow, mean Dean sounds like lots of fun. Not. "I'm sure you had it coming. Alright, nice chat. Go to class."
"But I don't want him to throw a ball at me!" Lucifer complains. A/N Random afterthought look up Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer) singing Big Balls. Drunk Mark is the best Mark!
"Then don't piss him off, and we won't have that problem, now, will we?"
Lucifer frowns. "Fine. But if he's still in a bad mood, I'm coming right back."
"I doubt he's still in a bad mood," Castiel says with a grin. If Dean is anything like Castiel, he's too busy waiting for school to end to be worried about anything else.
"See ya later, Castiel," Lucifer says with a mock salute before walking out the door. Gabriel follows him, imitating Lucifer's salute to annoy Lucifer slightly.
Castiel sighs as they walk away, relaxing into his chair. This is going to be a long day.
Sam and Gabriel decide to hang out after school. Actually, they decided they would a few days ago. They basically decided they'll spend all their free time together, especially now that Gabriel is on "Get Sam's mind off his ex" duty.
"Where are we going today?" Gabriel asks his friend as they stand outside of the school.
"We could go watch another movie," Sam replies, out of options. He and Gabriel have basically down every normal thing already this week.
Gabriel grins. "I like that idea!" he agrees. "But something funny." He wants to be able to look over and see Sam smiling. It's the best sight in the world to him.
The two of them go home and spend a while chatting with the rest of the family. They're are really nice to Sam, or at least by Novak standards. They chat for what surprisjngly ends up being a few hours, until Chuck brings them Chinese food, eating with his feet up on his desk. (Fortunately with pants on this time. He isn't in the bunker)
After dinner, Gabriel and Sam head into his room. Sam immediately sits down on Gabriel's bed. Gabriel is glad he feels welcome enough that he doesn't have to ask. Gabriel searches through the movies he has, finally settling on another favorite of his. He turns around and holds it up to Sam.
"Spaceballs?" he suggests.
"What's that?" Sam asks.
"You've never seen Spaceballs?" Gabriel says in exaggerated surprise and disappointment. "Alright, that's what we're watching."
Gabriel manages to stay awake for most of it, but although he loves the movie, he knows already knows the lines. The jokes come as he expects them to, making the whole movie more repetitive than hilarious. Gabriel falls asleep around when they open the safe.
Gabriel's head lays gently on Sam's shoulder as his breathing steadies. Sam looks down at him, his face relaxed as he sleeps. Sam can't help but smile at how peaceful his friend looks.
When the movie ends, Sam turns it off slowly. He's careful not to wake Gabriel with any sudden movements as he reaches for the remote he actually brought with him this time. Sam gently puts his arm around the sleeping Gabriel, looking at him affectionately. What did he ever do without this little angel in his life?
Dean stands in the doorway once again, waiting for Castiel to put everything away. Now that Sam and Gabriel are both staying at the Novak house, they have nothing to worry about tonight. They can do whatever they feel like doing at Dean's apartment, and they don't have the constant fear their brothers will show up.
"How long does it take to pick stuff up?" Dean asks impatiently. "What do you even do all day?"
"It's not what I do. It's what the students do." Castiel emphasizes this by throwing an already made paper airplane at him. Dean catches it easily. Castiel smiles, impressed, and walks up to Dean. "All done"
Dean grins. "Alright, come on."
The two drive up separately, not wanting to leave Castiel's car at school. It's probably for the best; Castiel wouldn't be able to focus on the road if Dean was next to him. After what feels like forever, they finally pull up to Dean's apartment and quickly join each other at the door.
"So, house to ourselves," Dean says once they're inside, a flirtatious smile on his face.
"That it is," Castiel agrees, repeating yesterday's conversation with a grin. "And what do you want to do?"
"This," Dean says, and presses his lips to Castiel's.
(Insert smut scene here that the author doesn't know how to nor wants to write)
The next morning
Castiel wakes up in an unfamiliar bed. He looks around, forgetting until that moment that he's with Dean. His eyes rest on the boy still sleeping next to him, the blanket lying at his waist. Castiel admires his bare chest; all the scars and imperfections just as beautiful as his defined six-pack and relaxed muscles.
Castiel watches as Dean sleeps, finally waking up a few minutes later. Dean's eyes land on Castiel first, and though he's still half asleep from sleeping, he gives Castiel a tired smile. He reaches for the blanket at his waste to pull up, but Castiel takes it from his hands and puts it back down where it was.
"Cas..." Dean says quietly, and the intent is clear. He wants to cover up his many scars with the blanket, as if they were a sign he was flawed or broken.
"Don't do that," Castiel mutters, their eyes meeting.
"You shouldn't have to look at these," Dean says quietly.
"You didn't seem to care yesterday," Castiel reminds him with a playful smile.
"Cas-"
"Besides," Castiel continues as if he never spoke. "I think you're beautiful." He traces one of the scars on Dean's chest with his finger slowly. Dean flinches when he's touched, but then he's still. Castiel rests his head on Dean's bare chest. "Can we just stay here forever?"
"I wish," Dean mutters, putting an arm around Castiel.
"Why can't we?"
Castiel hears Dean'a stomach growl. They both laugh quietly.
"Because of that," Dean says.
"Oh," Castiel replies, lifting his head hesitantly. Dean removes his arm slowly. Castiel and Dean both throw on some pants, and Dean reaches for his shirt. Castiel walks up to him and takes the shirt from him.
"What was that for?" Dean whines.
"You're too pretty for that," Castiel murmurs, his mouth up against Dean's ear.
"Cas..." He tries to protest, but Castiel kisses him before he can say anything else. "So, you were talking about food?" Castiel says when they pull apart.
Dean swallows hard as if trying to remind himself that there are other things in the world than Castiel. "Um, yeah. There are leftover pancakes. Nothing fancy, but..."
"Pancakes are good," Castiel agrees.
"Alright, come on." Dean gives him a quick kiss on the lips before walking into the kitchen and pulling out a bag of pancakes. He throws some in the microwave as Castiel walks up behind him. He rests his chin on Dean'a shoulder.
"Hi," he says quietly.
Dean looks down at him, smiling. "You're really driving me crazy," he murmurs.
Castiel kisses his cheek from behind. "I know."
Dean turns around and kisses Castiel back, only to be interrupted by the microwave beeping. Dean sighs and pulls the pancakes out, dropping them on the counter quickly before he burns his hands on the hot plate. He pulls out two more plates and hands one to Castiel, followed by a fork and knife.
"Bon appetite," he says jokingly, as if his pancakes are a complicated dish from a fancy restaurant.
Castiel's smile never falls. He's never been this happy with anyone before in his life. Dean is the best thing to happen to him, and he knows it perfectly well.
Gabriel wakes up to see Sam sitting next to him, leaning against the wall. Gabriel sits up and cracks his neck, which is stiff from being on Sam's shoulder for so long. Sam smiles at him when he realizes his friend is awake, and Gabriel grins back. He's already liking this day, and it's only just begun.
Sam removes his arm from around Gabriel's shoulders and stands up. Gabriel does the same, but less energetically. Sam chuckles as Gabriel struggles to get out of bed, still too tired to do anything.
"I'm starving," Gabriel announces randomly.
"I could eat," Sam agrees.
Gabriel leads him into the kitchen, seeing that everyone else is still asleep. He opens the fridge, frowns, and opens the pantry for better options. His frown deepens and he closes the door and turns to Sam.
"Wanna go to Dunks and get a donut or something?"
Sam shrugs. "Sure."
Gabriel drives them to Dunkin' Donuts, where Sam gets a blueberry muffin and Gabril gets a chocolate donut. He almost gets some coffee, but Sam doesn't let him. Gabriel just laughs, knowing Sam's right. As soon as Gabriel wakes up, he'll be back to his normal loud, energetic self. Him and coffee would be insane.
"So, what do you want to do today?" Sam asks when they get back to his house to eat.
"How many times do I have to tell you? You have the ideas!" Gabriel reminds him.
"Oh, right," Sam says with a laugh. "Um... Well... We could... Yeah, I got nothing."
"Me neither," Gabriel says as he eats his donut. "Wanna just hang around here 'til we get bored? And then I can drop you at your house?"
Sam shrugs. "Sure. I've got nothing better to do anyway."
Gabriel grins. Even with nothing to do, he knows they'll have a lot of fun, just because they're together.
Insert time gap here
Cas and Dean are sitting together on the couch watching Sherlock on Netflix. Castiel's head rests on Dean's bare chest, and Dean's arm wraps around him comfortably. It's amazing to Dean how perfectly their bodies seem to fit together.
They hear the doorknob turn, and they both look up quickly as Sam and Gabriel come in. Dean wraps his arms around his chest quickly, but it's too late. Sam's eyes widen as he looks at his brother in awe, and Dean knows the secret's out.
