Truce (Songfic) [ Destiel ?]
Dean was snuggled against Castiel, shaking, bleeding. He was breathing with difficulty, his hand against the huge wound on his side.
The angel was holding him, panicked, petting his hair and whispering that everything was going to be alright.
Because it has to. Dean could not die. It wasn't possible. Not Dean. Not his Dean.
Castiel was holding his tears back. It was going to be alright. Sam will arrive soon. He will save them. They won't stay stuck here, in this terrible hole, hidden like rats. Someone will save Dean.
Castiel put his chin on Dean's head, grabbing his clothes.
- Hold on, Dean. It's gonna be alright.
- No, Cass, it won't. I'm dying and you know it.
- Don't say that, whispered the angel. You'll live, I promise you.
Castiel swallowed, mortified, trying so hard to keep faith.
- Sam's gonna arrive soon, Dean. Just hold on a little bit longer.
Dean groaned weakly, fighting his pain.
- He won't, Cass. He can't. He won't find us.
- He will, insisted Castiel with a trembling voice. Don't worry.
- Cass...
The angel made him shut up by rocking him softly. Dean grabbed his shoulder, trying to be strong as much as he could.
- This sons of a bitches of demons didn't hold back, hum ? muttered Dean, shaking weakly.
- Dean I'm so sorry, cried Castiel. I should have saved you, I should have protected you.
- Cass, no. There's nothing you could have done with all of this sigils. Those sons of bitches were prepared against us, we had no chance.
Castiel bitted his lips, holding his tears back.
- I won't let you die.
- I know you won't, Cass but be realistic, you can't heal me, those demons are seeking us, we're trapped here in the middle of nowhere and Sam isn't coming...just admit it : I won't make it.
Castiel shaked his head.
- No. No, stay alive. Dean, stay alive for me. Please.
Dean grabbed his hand. A violent wave of pain hit him, making him whine. He hold Cass' hand strongly, fighting to breathe.
- I can try, he said weakly.
Cass petted Dean's hair, nervously.
- It's gonna be alright, he burbled, more for himself than for Dean. It's gonna be okay.
He lifted his head. He was able to see little rays of sunlight from the bottom of the crevasse. The sun was raising.
- It's day
- Already ? We're trapped here since four hours ?!
- Sam won't be long anymore.
- You think he's alright ? muttered Dean anxiously.
Castiel smiled sadly. Even dying, Dean was still worried about his little brother.
- Sure he is, don't worry. I'm sure he's close now.
- Yeah..., said Dean not really convinced.
- He probably went find some help. He will find us.
Dean stayed quiet, burying his head on Cass' neck.
Castiel looked at the sun, his heart beating fast inside of his chest. He was observing the sun rising and the night coming to an end, reassuring.
- Just hold on, he whispered to Dean, kissing his head. Please.
- I don't know if I can, he whiled. I- I don't know if I'm strong enough.
- You are, muttered Cass. Dean you're so strong, I know you are. Please keep trying.
- I'll try my best, promised.
- We'll try, added Cass, interlacing their fingers. Again.
After everything they've been through they could pass through this.
- We will try again, repeated Dean.
Cass pressed his cheer against Dean's head, holding his hand, trying to give him all the strength he could.
- You're not gonna die, Dean. Not today.
- What would it change ? said Dean, pessimistic. I'm gonna day one day. Today, in one month, in one year, in a century what would it change, hum ? I'm gonna die anyway. There'll be a painful goodbye anyway. It's meant to be.
- Dean, no, don't you dare say this ! Don't you dare lose hope.
- Cass, Dean smiled painfully, you know I've never been a believer.
Castiel looked at him sadly.
- No, Dean, listen to me. You're not gonna die. Not today. Maybe you'll die but, now, your life is free. Please believe me. You're gonna make it. Just...stay alive. Please, for me.
A tear dropped off his face. Dean hold his hand tighter.
- Stay alive for me. Don't you dare die, Dean. Please. I'm begging you. You can't. Look at everything you've been through. You resisted to so much. You should be proud of that. Take pride in what is sure to die. You are not even supposed to. You died so much time and here you are, still here. Aren't you proud of being alive ? Because I am. I'm proud of you, Dean.
Castiel kissed Dean's head softly, fitting against him, caressing his hand.
- You can make it. I know you can.
Dean responded by holding Cass' hand strongly and pressing his lips on Cass' neck. The angel was still petting him, with hard breaths.
- Hey, Cass, It's ok. We will fear death again. We'll fear so many thing in the future, but, right now, there's nothing to be scared of, okay ? We're gonna make it I promise.
Cass noddled, trying to smile.
- We'll fear the night again, muttered Dean. But not today.
They stayed quiet a few minutes, just holding each other. Dean was sniffing Cass' odor, reassuring and warm while petting his hand.
The sun was almost up, making the sky as red as Dean's blood.
A new wave of pain, stronger than the other made Dean shaked and moaned.
- It's alright, panicked Cass. It's alright, I'm here. I'm here.
Dean was catching his breath, grabbing Castiel's coat.
- Take it easy, Castiel said in a worried voice. Take it easy. It's gonna be okay, everything's gonna be okay. I'm not leaving you. I'm not going anywhere until you get better. It's fine, it's fine. Don't worry Dean I'm here.
Castiel quikly kissed Dean's head.
- Stay with me. I need you. Please don't leave me.
The angel's heart was beating so fast, his whole body was shaking, terrified at the idea of losing Dean.
The hunter was breathing with difficulty, his left hand on his bloody wound. He tried to calm down as much as possible and kissed Cass' neck.
- It's okay, it's okay. I'm fine.
Castiel pretended to believe him, and rested his head on Dean's.
Dean's breathe became more regularly. He hold Cass tight.
- Th-Thanks, he whispered.
Castiel stooped petting his hair, confused.
- For ?
- Everything.
Dean groans because another wave of pain but he kept taking :
- Thank you for taking care of me, Cass. Thank you for being there.
Castiel caressed his back.
- I will always be there for you, Dean. You mean everything to me.
- Promise me you'll never leave me.
- I won't ever leave you Dean, I give you my words. You know I will never.
- Yes. I know, whispered Dean, reassured.
- You mean so much to me. You're everything to me. You're my friend.
Dean laughed weakly :
- I'm happy I'm not my only friend.
Castiel smiled.
- No you're not, Sam and I love you. We love you so much...I love you so much.
- I love you too, whispered Dean.
Non of them was able to say what this 'I love you' meant. Non of them was sure of what kind of love it was telling. But they didn't care, they just know it was true.
- Don't die please.
- I won't. I promise I'll stay alive. For you.
