Episode Two: Wendigo

{Blackwater Ridge; Lost Creek, Colorado}

The winds howl without mercy during the night. The forest that surrounded them was ancient. The trees were thick and old, and their roots were twisted. There would the occasional abrupt birds cawing or insects annoyingly chirp. The flames of their campfire still burned. The light cast by the flames danced across the dark trunks of the trees, twisting and curling in obscure shapes and providing a small radius of light. The fire itself was pulsating, the glowing embers seemed to move in rhythm with the flames, matching every dip and sweep.

A college boy continued to merely play on his DS, slamming buttons harshly as the objective of the game was to shoot his opponents.

"Dude, you're cheating," his black haired friend commented as he also played on his own Nintendo game.

"No, you just suck," the college boy retorts.

Across from their tent, was another male. Turning on his phone, he immediately began his own video recording message to his sister, Hailey.

"Hey, Hailey," the brunette male smiles, "Day six, and we're still out near Blackwater Ridge. We're fine and safe. So, don't worry. Talk to you tomorrow."

Finishing the message, he continues to type of his phone.

Meanwhile, his other two friends were still playing on their game consoles.

Dying, the black haired boy purses his lips in irritation and tosses his game onto his sleeping mat while his blonde haired friend snickers.

Standing up, the black haired boy unzips the tent's exit flap.

"Hey," he friends questions, "Where are you going? My moment of victory."

"Nature call," he responds. He steps out and zips the tent up once again, before walking over to do his business on a nearby tree.

As he does so, the branches of the other trees ruffle and muzzle, startling him. He looks in its direction, only to find himself staring into the deeper end of the forest, which at night looked more frightening than the first thought.

After sending his message to his sister, the brown-haired male laid on his sleeping mat and continued reading his novel. But stops when he hears a sudden scream.

The blonde haired male stopped playing his game, and called out for his friend, "Brad?"

"Gray, what's going on?" the blonde haired male called from inside his own tent.

Worried, Gray unzips his tent and sticks out his head. He looks around, only to find nothing out of the ordinary. He checks once again... Nothing.

Then, a growl sounded from above him. Gray looks upwards to find a horrifying sight.

The creature grabs him, and Gray's yells are echoed throughout the forest.

The brown haired male panics and quickly shuts off the lantern in his tent. He breathes heavily, hoping for whatever was out there to go away. However, he sees the silhouette of the beast stalking around his tent and unnatural snarling. The beast movements intensity cause the boy's breathing to become rapid.

Suddenly, the movement stops. And the boy's blood runs cold. He freezes in place, his breath stuck in his throat.

A pair of talons strikes the cloth of the tent, shredding it open. The creature advances towards the boy, and the male yells, "AHHH!"

{Palto Alto, California}

The sun shone brilliantly and the virescent color of the spring day under its glare was offensively bright and cheerful. It was as if they conspired to show Sam how the world would go on without her. However, he felt that it shouldn't. Everything should be as grey and foggy as his emotions, it should be cold and damp with silent air. But the birds still sang and the flowers still bloomed. He walked through the graveyard like a silhouette of himself, wishing he really was as insubstantial as shadows so that his insides might not feel so mangled.

Sam stood in front of Jessica Lee Moore's grave. The picture her smiling face on the stone taunting him. A teddy bear laid against it followed by a small chest box, a framed picture, and across. And on top of her stone, were three candles.

Sam clears his throat, struggling to find his voice, "I, um..." He gives a humorless chuckle while wearing a suit he holds a bouquet of flowers, "You always said roses were lame, so I brought you, uh..." His pitiful gaze stares at the flowers. Honestly, he didn't know what they were, but he chooses the flowers that match his deceased lover's beauty. Clenching his jaw, he struggles to look everywhere except the picture on Jess' grave. "Jess," he began, tears welling up in his eyes, "Oh, god..."

He kneels down, and whispers brokenly, "I should have protected you. I should have told you the truth..."

He then plants the flower on the soil of her grave. But then, a hand shot from the ground and grips Sam's wrist tightly.

Sam snaps away at the abrupt sound of his brother's rock and roll music.

Dean notices the frighten look on Sam's face but decides not to question it.

"All right, thanks, Mike. Call me when it's done,"  Amber says as she hops in Dean's Impala, "Okay let's get something to eat."

Dean nods, and then begin to drive away. The Impala accelerating as he rode down the street.

"So... Another nightmare?" Dean brings up.

Sam clears his throat, not answering his question.

"You wanna drive for a while?" Dean asks.

Sam chuckles, "In your whole life, you never once asked me that."

Amber cuts in, "He's just asking, Sam."

"Look," Sam spoke, "I know you guys are worried about me. I get it, and thanks. But I'm perfectly okay."

"Mm-hmm," Amber hums, not believing a single word.

"Where are we?" Sam questions as he pulls out a map.

"We are just outside of Grand Junction," Amber responses.

Dean looks at the map to find a red X on the map with two coordinates at the top.

"You know what?" Sam sighs, "Maybe we shouldn't have left Stanford so soon."

"Sam," Amber spoke, "We dug around there for a week, and came up with nothing. If you want to find the thing that killed  Jessica--"

Sam cuts her off, "We gotta find dad first."

"Dad disappearing," Dean states, "And this thing showing up again after twenty years? It can't be a coincidence. Dad will have answers. He'll know what the hell to do."

"It's weird though, man," Sam states, "The coordinates he left us lead to Blackwater Ridge..."

"Well, good," Amber comments, "I need my bike."

"Yeah, but there's practically nothing there," Sam says, "It's just wooded. Why is dad sending us to the middle of nowhere?"

After the four pull up at a nearby diner and ate the food they had ordered. They sit conversing with each other as they once did before they went their separate ways.

Dean notices the camera bag Amber brought with her. "So, I see you still bring that camera with you everywhere you go," Dean teases.

"It's for my job asshole," Amber rolls her eyes.

"So, amber what have you been doing?" Sam asks.
Amber smiles in response, "Traveling" She pulls out some photos from her bag.    "This one, I was in Hawaii. There was also a ghost that was possessing a takki."

She continues to show the other photos, then she stumbles upon one with a boy and her on her bike, he is kissing her cheek.

"Who's that?" Dean asks, bluntly.

Amber pauses before responding, "Just a friend..."

Sam remarks, "Do all your friends kiss you on the cheek?"
"No," Amber musters up a smile, "Just... We were best friends." Then her phone rings and Ambers answers with a click of the button. She ignores the curious stares that her brothers gave her.

"Best friends," Dean murmurs under his breath, "My ass."

"Hello? Hey Mike... Yeah, yeah. I'll be right there. Okay, bye."
"Okay, I gotta go," Amber announces, "I can walk it's right around the corner, but I gotta go do work, a client wants to do a photoshoot. I'll meet you guys at Blackwater Ridge."

And with that, Amber leaves her brothers and the Winchesters departure.

{Ranger Station}

Dean parked the Impala in front of a wooden made, dark cabin designed for the rangers of the forest. There were a few others walking throughout the ranger station, conversating amongst themselves and possibly looking forward to just another regular camping trip.

Inside the cabin, the boys look around the station. Dean stares at a nearby framed picture, while Sam gazes at a map that laid on a glass table.

"So Blackwater Ridge is pretty remote," Sam comments. "It's cut off by these canyons here -- Abandoned silver and gold mines all over the place."

"Dude, check out the size of this friggin' bear!" Dean spoke off topic.

Sam turns to his brother, almost annoyed with him. Next, to his brother, he says, "And a dozen or more grizzlies in the area. It's no nature hike, that's for sure."

"You boys aren't planning to go out near Blackwater Ridge, by any chance?" A voice appears out of nowhere. The boys turn around to see a man possibly in his 50's, wearing a ranger outfit.

"Oh, no," Sam immediately lies, "We're environmental study majors from UC Boulder -- just working on a paper."

"Recycle, man," Dean awkwardly adds, as he fits pump the air.

"Bull," the ranger states. "You friends with that Hailey girl, aren't you?" he questions, motioning at them with his mug of coffee.

"Yes," Dean answers. The two boys walk closer towards the man, as Dean continues, "Yes, we are, Ranger..." Dean glances at the man's tag, "Wilkinson"

Ranger Wilkinson sighs, "Well, I'll tell you exactly what I told her. Her brother filled out a backcountry permit saying he wouldn't be back from Blackwater till the 24th. Not exactly a missing person, now is it?" The old man turns and heads towards his desk, "Now, tell that girl to quit worrying."

"We will," Dean response. Before the boys leave, Dean remarks, "Well, that Hailey girl's quite a pistol, huh?"

The ranger nods, chuckling, "That is putting it mildly.
Dean continues on, "You know if I could show her a copy of that backcountry permit she could see her brother's return date."

The boys walk out of the cabin, as Dean laughs victorious, "Yeah, hehe."

"What, are you cruising for a hookup or something?" Sam comments.

"What do you mean?"

"The coordinates point to Blackwater Ridge," Sam points out, "So what are we waiting for? Let's just go find dad." As the boys reach the Impala, Sam continues his rant, "I mean, why even look for this chick?"

"I don't know, maybe we should know what we're walking into," Dean responses, "Before actually walking into it." Dean gives him a look as if to say: 'what's wrong with you?'

"What?" Sam sighs.

"Since when are you all 'shoot first, ask questions later'?"

"Since now," Sam spoke softly.

"Oh really?" Dean quirks a brow in amusement.

{Hailey's Home}

The door opens to reveal a dark haired girl with fair skin and blue eyes.

"You must be Hailey Collins, I'm Dean-"

"And I'm Sam," Sam cuts his brother off.

Ignoring his younger sibling, Dean continues, "We're rangers with the park service. Ranger Wilkinson sent us over. We wanted to ask you some questions about your brother, Tommy."

Hailey narrows her eyes, "Let me see some ID."

Dean complies and shows it to the girl, "There you go."

Hailey sighs, and opens her see-through front door, "Come on in." Hailey notices the Impala and asks Dean, "That yours?" Dean nods in response. "Nice car," Hailey mutters as the boys step inside her home.

"So if Tommy is not back in a while, how do you know something's wrong?" Sam questions Hailey as she places two food bowls on the dining table. Hailey's younger brother sits at the table, eating his meal as he listened to the conversation.

"He chats with me every day," Hailey responses, "He e-mails, photos, stupid little videos. But we haven't heard anything in over three days now."

"Well," Sam remarks, "Maybe he can't get cell reception."

Hailey shakes his head, "He's got a satellite phone, too."

"Could it be that he's just having fun, and forgot to check in?"

Hailey's younger sibling chimes in, "He wouldn't do that."

Dean turns to the teen boy. Hailey places more dishes on the table, "Our parents are gone. It's just my two brothers and me. We all keep close tabs on each other."

Sam nods, "Alright... Can I see the pictures he sent you?"

Hailey shows the boys her laptop screen. She clicks on a picture of a brown-haired man with green orbs who smiled brightly at the picture, "That's Tommy." She clicks through his sent messages, and a video pops up, "This was his last message." She clicks on it and the video began.

"Hey, Hailey. Day six. We're still out near Blackwater Ridge. We're fine. Keeping safe. So don't worry, okay? Talk to you tomorrow."

The video stops, Sam attentively looks at where the video pauses as Dean gives Hailey words of encouragement. "We'll find your brother," Dean spoke, "We're heading out to Blackwater Ridge first thing."

"Then maybe I'll see you there," Hailey says, walking back towards the dining area. Sam and Dean give her curious looks as she continues, "Look, I can't just sit around here anymore, so I hired a guide. I'm heading out in the morning, and I'm gonna find Tommy myself."

"I think I know how you feel," Dean says.

"Hey," Sam interrupts the two, and asks the girl, "Do you mind forwarding this to me?"

"Sure."

{Local Bar}

Music plays throughout the room and the sounds of pool table balls clang against each other as people play. Waitress attended to people waiting at tables, and bartenders served out alcoholic drinks.

"So," Sam began, "Blackwater Ridge doesn't get a lot of traffic --

"Local campers mostly," Dean adds.

"But still, two hikers went missing out there and they were never found."

"Any before that?" Dean asks.

"Yeah." Sam pulls out a small slip of newspaper and read from it, "In 1982, eight different people all vanished in the same year. Authorities said it was a grizzly attack." Sam hands the paper to Dean, who skimmed it. Sam digs into his backpack and takes his laptop. "And, again, in 1959, and again, before that, in 1936-- Every 23 years, just like clockwork."

Sam opens his laptop as Dean continued reading, "Here's the clincher." Sam clicks on a folder and opens to find the video they had witnessed of Tommy at his home. "I downloaded that guy, Tommy's video to the laptop," Sam spoke, "And check this out." Sam fast-forwards the clip, and the two brothers find themselves looking at a large, gangly silhouette passing behind Tommy as he sat in his tent. "That's three frames," Sam states, "That's a fraction of a second. Whatever that thing is, it can move quickly."

Dean playfully smacks Sam's chest, making him grunt, "I told you something weird was going on."

"Yeah," Sam agrees, and shuts his laptop, "But I got one more thing." He then pulls out another paper, "In '59, one camper survived the supposed grizzly attack, just a kid -- barely crawled out of the woods alive."

"Is there a name?" Dean asks.

{Retirement Home}

Sam and Dean enter the home of the old man.

"Look, ranger," the old man spoke gruffly ask he walked with a limp, "I don't know why you're asking me about this. It was publicly recorded. I was a kid." The man pauses for a brief moment to release the smoke of tobacco he held in his lungs, "My parents got mauled by a --"

"Grizzly?" Sam interrupts him, "That's what attacked them?"

The old man inhales another breath, trying to settle his nerves. He turns to the boys and nods.

"The other people that went missing that year--" Dean spoke, "Those bear attacks too?" The old man sits on his rigidity bed and blinks the tears from his eyes. "What about all the people that went missing this year?" Dean continues. "Same thing? If we knew what we were dealing with, we might be able to stop it."

The old man removes the cigar from his lips, and replies, "I seriously doubt that. Anyways, I don't see the difference it would make. You wouldn't believe me. Nobody ever did."

Sam walks closer towards the old man, and softly said, "Mr. Shaw... What did you see?"

Mr. Shaw sighs, and then spoke, "Nothing. It moved too fast to see. It hid too well. I heard it, though... A roar..."

"Like what?" Sam asked.

"Like no man or animal I ever heard."

"It came at night?"

Mr. Shaw response with a nod.

"Did it get inside your tent?" Sam questions.

"It got inside our cabin," Mr. Shaw corrected, "I was sleeping in front of the fireplace when it came in. It didn't smash a window or break the door -- it unlocked it." The boys looked at each other, knowing that the story was very odd. Mr. Shaw continued, "Do you know of a bear that could do something like that? I didn't even wake up until I heard my parents screaming."

"It killed them?" Sam asks.

The old man nods, "Dragged them off into the night." Mr. Shaw shook his head as the story played out in his mind, "Why it left me alive -- I've been asking myself that ever since." Mr. Shaw pulls down the collar of his shirt, and he shows Sam and Dean the deep scars of what appeared to be claw marks, "It left me this..." Internally, the two brothers pitied the old man. "There's something evil in those woods," the old man comments, "It was some sort of a demon."

Walking out of Mr. Shaw's bedroom, they walk down a narrow hallway with multiple other rooms.

"Demons and spirits, don't have to unlock doors," Dean comments, "They just go through the walls."

"So it's probably something else," Sam concludes, "Something corporeal."

"'Corporeal'?" Dean remarks, "Excuse me, professor."

Sam rolls his eyes, "Shut up. So, what do you think?"

"The claws, the speed that it moves--", Dean began to list, "It could be a skinwalker, maybe a black dog. Whatever we're talking about, we're talking about a creature, and it's corporeal, which means we can kill it."

{Outside}

Dean opens the Impala's trunk. Using a shotgun, he makes the trunk stay still, in order for him to pack necessary items. Dean grabs a worn-out duffle bag and stuffs an Ithaca 37.

Sam appears by his side, and began to help his brother pack, "We cannot let that Hailey girl go out there."

Dean stuffs a Colt M1911A1, "What are we gonna tell her then? She can't go into the woods because of a big, scary monster?"

"Yeah."

Dean turns to Sam, "Her brother's missing, Sam. She's not just gonna sit this out. No, we go with her, we protect her, and we keep our eyes peeled for our fuzzy predator friend."

Dean grabs his bag as Sam comments, "So finding Dad's not enough?" Sam removes the shotgun which held the trunk's door and he slams it shut. "Now we got to babysit, too?" Dean narrows his orbs at his brother, noticing the difference in his behavior. "What?" Sam asks.

"Nothing," Dean says. He roughly shoves the duffle bag towards Sam, who in return glared at his brother as he walked away.

{Forest}

The sun sent an army of light down emphasizing the beauty of the environment. Grass covered the land slick like hair. Flowers were sprouting up in an amazing discord of the colors to dazzle the senses and eyes as beautiful arrays of colors from greens, yellows, purples, reds, and others assaulted you. Mountains reached up to the sky seemingly trying to pluck and rival the sun. The homely smell of pine drifted in the air lingering gently like a charm. Birds twittered and gossiped in the tall might trees.

"I'll tell you again," Roy, Hailey's guide, lecture her about her younger sibling as he grabbed his rifle, "I don't think Ben should be here."

Hailey sighs, "Roy..."

"Look. you're paying me good money to keep everybody safe. I think the kid is safe at home."

Dean drives the Impala and parks in front of the three. The two brothers step out of their car, and Dean spoke, "You guys got a room for two more?"

"Wait," Hailey asks, "You want to come with us?"

"Who are these guys?" Roy questions.

"Apparently, this is all the park service could muster up for a search and rescue," Hailey remarks.

"You rangers?" Roy asks.

"Yup," Sam mutters in response as he carried the duffle bag.

"That's right," Dean says.

"And you're hiking out in biker boots and jeans?" Hailey continued.

Dean scoffs, "Well, sweetheart I don't do shorts."

"Oh, so you think this is funny?" Roy glared at Dean who walked away from Hailey, "It's dangerous backcountry out there. Her brother might be hurt."

Sam and Dean share a look. "Trust me," Dean remarks, "We know how dangerous it can be. We just want to help them find their brother, that's all."

{Cave}

Light glowed softly in the darkness of the cave. The cavern was made of jagged teeth of stone. The rhythmic sound of inky black water sloshes against a narrow strip of land and disappears into the darkness, causing Tommy to be half awake.

"W-What?" he murmurs tiredly.

A few feet away from him was his blonde haired friend, Gray. He awakens covered in blood and dirt, and his hair no longer tied with his bandana. His hands stretch out above him, tied together, and he hangs a foot above the ground.

Gray hear the growl of the creature that captured him. He looks up to see its shadow standing tall. Gray struggles against his restraints as he tries desperately to escape. Tommy, now fully awake, helplessly watches his friend.

Gray releases frightful screams and the creature came closer towards him.

"AHHH!" Tommy hears Gray's screams, skin tearing, and bones breaking, as the creature began to devour him.

{Forest}

Roy leads the others deep into the forest, stepping over rocks, large tree logs, and roots.

"Roy," Dean spoke, "You said you did a little hunting."

"Yeah," Roy replied, "More than a little."

"What kind of furry critters do you hunt?" Dean asks.

"Mostly buck. Sometimes bear."

"Tell me, uh, Bambi or Yogi ever hunt you back?" Dean remarks.

Roy roughly pulls Dean by the sleeve. Making the others, Hailey, Ben, and Sam stopped.

"What you doing, Roy?" Dean glares at the older man.

Roy grabs a nearby stick and shoves it into the ground where Dean almost stepped in. Roy smirks, "You should watch where you're stepping... Ranger."

Dean forces a smile and chuckles behind to the others, "It's a bear trap..."

Sam, Hailey, and Ben follow after the two.

Hailey comes behind Dean and turns him around by the shoulder. She asks, "You're not rangers, so who the hell are you?"

Dean glances to his brother Sam, who in return only nodded. Dean response with his own back to him.

Dean exhales sharply, "Sam and I are brothers, and we're looking for our father. He might be here. We don't know. I just figured that you and me, we're in the same boat."

"Why didn't you just tell me from the start?" Hailey sighs.

"Well, I'm telling you now. Besides, this is probably the honest I've ever been with a woman... Besides Juno, mainly 'cause she could always tell when I lied..."

"Juno?"

"My adoptive sister," Dean answers. "So, we okay?"

"Yeah," Hailey pauses before nodding, "Okay."

"And what do you mean I didn't pack provisions?" Dean inquired. Dean pulls out a pack of M&Ms and shows it to Hailey, before smiling like a child and turning around to join the others.

{Black Water Ridge}

"This is it--" Roy announces to the others, "Blackwater Ridge."

"What coordinates are we at?" Sam questions.

Roy pulls out his tracker and pressed on his location. "35 and minus 111," he answers.

The brothers look at their surroundings. Nothing was out of the ordinary, and Sam and Dean both knew that was never a good thing. Looking further into the woods, the brothers noticed there was nothing to be heard. It was eerily quiet...

"You hear that?" Dean asks his brother.

"Yeah," Sam responds, "Not even crickets."

"I'm gonna go take a look around," Roy spoke.

"You shouldn't go off by yourself," Sam stated.

Chuckling, Roy says, "That's sweet." He grips his rifle with both hands and walks pass the boys. "Don't worry about me."

Roy heads off in front of them, while Dean turns to the others, "Everybody stick together. Come on, let's go."

The others walk into the woods to find nothing. Until, Roy called out, "Hailey, over here!"

The girl rushes and the others rush over. Hailey's eyes widen as she witnessed the destruction of the sight, "Oh my god."

    "Looks like a grizzly."

Blood was splattered on a few trees and mostly on the white fabric of the tents. The tents' frames laid on the ground, shredded on some parts. Trash, clothing, and food were scattered about.

"Tommy?" Hailey called for her brother. She drops her bookbag and walks around the area, calling out for her brother.

    "Shh!" Sam stops her.

    "Why?"

"Something might still be out there..." Sam answers.

"Sam!" Dean shouts for his brother.

Following the sound of his voice, Sam finds Dean. Crouching, the brothers find a clue that detailed what happened -- only a small section of the dirt held fairly large lines, the space between the two signifying the bodies of males.

"The bodies were dragged from the campsite," Dean says, "But here, the tracks just vanish." The boys stand up as Dean adds, "I'll tell you what, I don't think it's no skinwalker or black dog."

Tears drip from Hailey's cheek as she picks up her brother's phone. The screen cracked and stained with some blood, and the back of it showing the wires and hardware its made out of.

Hailey sniffles, as Dean appears beside her. "Hey," Dean encourages her, "He could still be alive."

Suddenly, the boys hear a familiar voice the screamed, "Help!" Dean and Hailey stand up, and the others turn to the sound. The voice continues pleading for help, "Please! Somebody help me!"

"Juno!?" the Winchester boys yell simultaneously. Dean pulls out his pistol, as Roy rushes towards the sound of the voice. The others follow behind them, leaving their belongings at the campsite. "Help!"

Everyone runs in the same direction. Dean sprints, pushing aside branches that stood in his ways, and Sam jumps over logs. They arrive, looking for the sound of the voice.

"Juno?" Sam calls out. But his sister doesn't respond. There was nothing there.

"It seemed like your sister's voice was coming from around here, didn't it?" Hailey questions.

The boys look around once again, silence overtaking all of them.

After a few moments, Sam finally breaks the quietness and orders, "Everybody back to camp, now."

Everyone returns back to camp, only to find all of their belongings missing.

    "Our packs!" Hailey shouts.

Roy sighs as he walks further into the camp, "So much for my GPS and my satellite phone..." He crouches to the ground and sees if he could find any clues.

"What the hell is going on?" Hailey asks.

"It was to cuts us off, so we can't call for help," Sam responses.

"You mean," Roy began, "Some nut job out there just stole our gear..."

Sam turned to his brother and whispers, "I need to speak with you... In private."

The two brothers step away from the others and venture further into the woods. Making sure they weren't followed, the boys turned to each other.

"Okay, let me see dad's journal," Sam says. Dean takes out his father's brown, leather-bound notebook from his jacket and hands it to his brother. Sam unclasp the book and opens it, "Alright..." He flips through the pages to find what he was looking for. He lands on the notes that were titled: 'Wendigo'.

"Oh," Dean scoffs, "Come on. Wendigos are in the Minnesota woods or northern Michigan. I've never even heard of one this far west."

"Think about it Dean," Sam says, "The claws, the way it can mimic a human voice."

Dean sighs, "Great." He moved his gun towards Sam, "Well, then this is useless."

Sam gives Dean back the journal and walks back to camp. But not before saying to his brother, "We got to get these people to safety."

Sam arrives back to camp and immediately states, "Alright, listen up. We gotta go. Things have gotten... More complicated."

    "What?" Hailey asks.

"Whatever's out there," Roy chimes in, "I think I can handle it."

"If you just shoot this thing," Sam counters, "You'll just make it mad. We have to leave, now."

"One," Roy argues, "You're talking nonsense. Two, you're in no position to give anybody orders."

    "Relax," Dean scowls.

"We never should have let you come out in the first place, alright?" Sam spoke. "I'm trying to protect you."

"You," Roy scoffs, "Protect me. I was still hunting these woods when your mommy was still kissing you goodnight."

"Oh, yeah?" Sam remarks, "It's a damn-near-perfect hunter. It's smarter than you. And it's gonna hunt you down and eat you alive, not unless we get your stupid, sorry ass out of here."

Roy laughs in his face, "You know you're crazy right?"

"Yeah? You ever hunt a --"

Sam stops as his ears note a rhythmic sound. They all hoped that the gentle snapping of twigs and the crunch of gravel suggested perhaps a deer or a rabbit was moving in the shadows of the forest edge. Yet the beast was neither. A string of curses unraveled from Sam's tongue, like yarn unfurling, as the creature advanced.

Hailey's brother, Ben stutters, "W-What the hell is that?"

Every step it took rattled their bones and struck their hearts. With a wingspan of over twenty meters and a body as large as a war horse, the creature was an impressive sight. His scales were as cold as ice but blazed brightly like a flickering flame in hot anger. In his chest holds often at times a hearth of burning fire although in his remorseless heart was rime. His cold, violet eyes, the only part of him to signify that he was human, turned Hailey's skin into a sickly pale. She looked at his claws, and she could tell they were able to lacerate even the sturdiest to ribbons of skin and bone. With its tongue, the beast could smell their dread and could practically taste their fear. The creature release a hiss at the sight of them.

"Sam!" Dean calls, and he cocks the safety off his pistol of, "What the hell is that!?"

    Sam yells in response, "DRAGOOON!"

The winged behemoth releases a terrifying roar that shook the forest. The ground trembles and everyone falls to the ground. The winged creature flaps its wings and flies into the air, but not before swooping down on and making everyone duck.

Roy snaps out of his trance. He fumbles into his pocket and his fill his rifle with more bullets. Once done, Roy aims the barrel of his gun at the flying monster.

"No!" Sam and Dean turn to face a familiar voice. A girl with heterochromia irises glared at Roy, making the stunned man stare into her alluring eyes. The girl's face was complemented by her short, black, curly hair.

Before Roy could pull the trigger, the creature swung from massive paw, carefully not to hurt the foolish man too much. It struck his side and Roy tumbles into the dirt.

"Juno? What the hell is that giant lizard doing here?" Dean growls at his sister.

Juno ignores him, the glare was evident in the crease of her lovely brow and the slight downward curve of her full lips. "Erebus, you stupid worm! Get down here, this instant!" Juno yells.

Sam couldn't help but chuckle, "You sound like the time you caught Dean eating Amber and I's birthday cake you worked hard to make."

Juno sighs, "Dean always was a fatass."

"HEY!" Dean objects, "MY BUTT ISN'T THAT BIG!"

Listening to Juno, the beast lands on the hard ground, producing a large thump.

The dragon shifts into a rather handsome man. He had tousled dark brown hair, which was thick and lustrous. His eyes were mesmerizing deep violet eyes, flecks of blue light performed ballets throughout. His face was strong and defined, his features molded from granite. He had dark eyebrows, which sloped downwards in a serious expression. His usually playful smile had drawn into a hard line across his face.

"Sorry, Juno," he murmurs, glaring at the ground.

Juno barks at him, her hand sticking out towards him, "Erebus, shift."

Erebus complies and turns into a smaller dragon. He flutters his wings and lands on the palm of Juno's hand, then scurries up to her shoulder, his talons digging into her dark, jean jacket. Erebus looks at the male Winchesters with narrowed eyes and hisses, making both brothers become taken aback.

Dean mimics a snarl back at the winged creature, almost making Juno snicker.

Sam interrupts the squirreling, and asks Juno, "What are you doing here?"

Juno response, "I heard a Wendigo was hiding in this place of the woods, some and Erebus came to check it out."

Roy groans as he sat up and cracks his back, "So we're not gonna talk about how that thing almost killed me?" Hailey and Ben rush over to his side and help the old man stand.

"Just be glad I didn't let him eat you," Juno responses. She turns to her siblings again, "Why did you bring a bunch of idiots here?"

"These 'idiots'," Hailey remarks, "Are look for their brother."

"You shouldn't be here, you'll just be put in more danger," Juno counters.

Hailey nods admitting, "Just your dragon alone proved that-"

"At least he didn't toss you like a rag doll like grumpy over there," Juno nods to Roy.

Hailey continues, "--But, my brother might still be alive. And I'm not leaving here without him..."

Juno couldn't help but smile at the pretty girl, "I don't know what's going to kill you faster -- your loyalty or your stubbornness?"

Dean chimes in, "Look, what took your brother was a Wendigo. It's a good hunter in the day, and an unbelievable hunter at night. We'll never beat it -- not in the dark." Walking away, Dean adds, "We need to settle in for the night."

"How?" Ben questions.

Standing on the edge of Juno's finger, Erebus blow fires onto the pile of branches for a campfire. Hailey pokes and prods the fire with a stick to make it larger.

"One more time," Hailey says to Dean, "That's..."

"Anasazi symbols," Dean answers as he and Juno etched symbols onto the dirt with a stick.

"They're for protection," Juno adds, "The windigo can't cross over them."

Roy laughs his rifle in hand.

"Nobody likes a skeptic, Roy," Dean remarks.

Juno walks over to Sam, who sat on a log.

"What's going on in that freaky head of yours?" Juno asks him.

"Juno --"

"Sam," Juno cuts him off, "I know I'm not blood, but I do know when you're not fine. Besides, I'm supposed to be the cold one, remember?"

Sam chuckles humorlessly, and he remarks, "You know, you weren't always like that..."

Juno purses her lips, "Yeah... Yeah, I know... But seriously, what's up?"

Sam sighs, "Dad's not here, we've been looking for him for more than a week... He would have left us a message, a sign, right?"

"Yeah, you're probably right... But to tell you the truth, I don't think dad's ever been to the lost creek."

"Then we need to get these people back to town..." Sam turns to his sister, "And then Dean and I could hit the road. I mean what are we still doing here?" Sam hits the stick in his hands against a large rock, breaking the twig in half.

"It's more than just dad, isn't it?" Juno questions softly, reminding Sam of her once motherly tone. Juno notices the pained look on Sam's face.

"The thing that killed mom, killed my girlfriend... Her name is -- was Jess."

Juno gazes intently at her sibling, "You shouldn't hold something like that in, Sammy..."

"And why not?"

"Look," Juno exhales sharply, "I'm gonna say that I understand how you feel, 'cause I probably don't. But I do know we had had our fair share of ups and downs, especially after we all split up." Sam cringes slightly at the memory, nonetheless, Juno continues, "You're struggling, I can tell. But it's okay. It's okay to miss her, it's okay to grieve, it's okay to still love her, and it's okay to be hurt... It's okay not being okay. But you can't hold that shit in. And if you do, it'll come even stronger, and just drown you in a sea of emotions."

Sam sighs, and began to wonder aloud, "Out of all the places in the world, why would dad want to send us to these places and make us find each other?"

Dean walks towards the pair, "I think I know why..."

"Were you listening to our conversation?" Juno raised a brow, seemingly unamused.

"Maybe..." Dean answers, "But I think I figured it out."

"What?" Sam asks.

"I think he wants all of us to pick up where he left off -- You know, saving people, hunting things, the family business!"

Juno sighs, "That makes no sense. Why doesn't he just call us? Why doesn't he tell us what the hell he wants, tell us where he is?"

"I don't know..." Dean responses. "But the way I see it, dad's given us a job to do, and I intend to do it."

"Dean..." Sam whispers, slowly. His eyes full of sorrow, "No... I gotta find dad. I gotta find Jessica's killer. Its the only thing I can think about."

"Sammy," Dean spoke, "We'll find them, I promise." Sam looks at his brother with reluctance. Dean continues trying to encourage him, "Look at me. You've got to prepare yourself. I'll be honest, this search might take a while..." Dean pokes Sam's chest, "But all that anger, you can't keep it burning over the long haul. Juno's right, it's gonna kill you. You got to have patience, man."

Sam chuckles, "How do you two do it? How does dad do it?"

"Well, for one," Dean comments, and motions to where Hailey and Ben sat next to the fireplace, "Them. I mean, I figure out the family's so screwed to hell, maybe we can help some others. It makes things a little more bearable." Sam continues to gaze at the two siblings until Dean spoke again, "And I will tell you one other thing... Killing as many evil sons of bitches as I possibly can."

The three siblings share a brief smile, but their moment was immediately cut short when a cry for help rang through the forest.

"Help!" a male voice screams.

Sam lights on a flashlight as Dean and Juno took out their guns from their sides. Erebus flies onto the ground and shifts into a largely sized dragon. Hailey and Ben tightly hold onto each other as Roy stood beside them with his rifle.

"Help!" the voice calls out again.

"It's trying to draw us out," Dean says, "Just stay cool and stay put."

"Inside the magic circle?" Roy rolls his eyes causing him to receive a glare from Dean.

Growling resonates within the forest, and this time it wasn't Erebus.

"Help me!" the voice cries again.

Roy turns his rifle towards a bush, "That ain't no grizzly..."

Hailey tugs on her little brother jacket and sits on a log with him. "Don't worry," she tells him, "We'll be okay, I promise."

Suddenly, swiftly the windigo runs around the campsite. Roy points his gun and fires. A yowl comes from the monster.

"I got it!" Roy says. He then chases after the creature, ignoring Dean's orders to stop.

Sam and Dean chase after Roy. Juno orders Erebus to stay with Hailey and Ben, and tells the siblings not to move from the circle as Juno runs after her siblings.

"It's over here!" a voice cries.

Roy foolishly follows the sound only to be snatch by the creature who was above him, on a tree.

"I-I don't..." Hailey struggled to find something to say, "I mean, these types of things -- they are supposed to be real!"

Juno sighs, "I wish I could tell you something different."

"How do we know it's not out there watching us?" Ben asks.

"We don't..." Dean replies. "But we're safe for now."

"How do you guys know all this stuff?" Hailey questions.

"Kinda runs in the family," Dean answers.

Sam walks into camp, sighing, "Hey. So, we've got half a chance in the daylight... And I for one, want to kill this son of a bitch."

"Count me in?" a voice resonates behind Sam. Everyone turns around to face Amber who had her belongings in her large camera bag.

"Amber!" Juno smiles. "My big ball of sunshine mixed with a tiny hurricane!"

Amber grins in return, "Heyo."

Juno turns to her sister, wrapping her arm around her shoulder, "Hell, you assholes know I like a good family reunion."

Dean smiles, "Well, hell, you know I'm in."

"Windigo is a Cree Indian word. I mean, 'Evil that devours'," Sam states as he reads off his journal, "They're hundreds of years old."

Erebus lands on the floor, and transform into his male form. "Oh, yeah," Erebus comments as he cracks his neck to the side, "That sounds wonderful.

"And being a man-eating dragon is?" Dean remarks.

"Okay, so what does it mean?" Amber interrupts the feuding pair and asks.

"Sometimes they were an Indian man," Juno responses, "Or other times a frontiersman or a miner or hunter."

"Okay, but what is going on? I literally just got here!"

Dean rolls his eyes, "A wendigo is eating people around this area."

"Oh, so same old-same old. And don't you roll your eyes at me!"

Dean sticks out his tongue, "I'm older you can't tell me what to do!"

"Says the person who stuck their tongue out like a five-year-old"

Juno cuts off the arguing pair, "Both of you stop it, we have a job to do."

Sam smiles appreciatively at the girl, and continues informing everyone, "During some harsh winter, a guy finds himself starving, cut off from supplies or help -- becomes a cannibal to survive, eating other members of his tribe of camp."

"Like the Donner Party," Ben comments.

Sam nods, "Exactly. Cultures all over the world believe that eating human flesh gives a person certain abilities -- speed, strength, immortality."

"If you eat enough of it," Juno adds, "Over years, you become less... Human. You're always hungry."

"You know sometimes it would be nice if Ghostbusters were real," Dean says.

"What does that have to do with anything?" Erebus turns to him with frowned brows.

Ignoring the pair, Hailey spoke, "So, if that's true, how can Tommy still be alive?"

Juno, Amber, Dean, and Sam all look at each other, neither knowing what to say.

"You're not gonna like it," Dean states.

"Tell me," Hailey orders.

"More than anything," Dean says, "A wendigo knows how to last long winters without food. It hibernates for years at a time. When it's awake, it keeps its victims alive. It, uh, stores them so it can feed whenever it wants." Hailey shares a pained look with her younger brother as Dean continues, "If you brother's alive, it's keeping him somewhere dark, hidden, and safe. And we got to track it back there."

"And then how do we stop it?" Ben questions.

"Well, guns are useless -- so are knives. Basically," Dean shows the two alcohol, a lighter, and some gasoline, "We got to torch the sucker."

Dean leads the others deeper into the forest, a bottle of gasoline in hand which was sealed with a white fabric.

"Dean!" Sam calls out to his brother.

Dean appears next to Sam, "What is it?"

Looking upward, Dean follows his brother's gaze and see blood and claw marks racked on multiple trees.

"You know," Sam comments, "I was thinking those claw prints were so clear and distinct... They were almost too easy to follow."

The sound of growling and plants puzzling startles everyone. Erebus snarls as the wendigo circle the group.

Hailey felt something fall on her shoulder. She looks to her right to see the crimson liquid drip on her jacket. She regrets looking upward as she saw Roy's body. She screams. The corpse almost landed on top of her, if she not had jumped out of the way.

"You okay?" Amber pulls her up.

Erebus checks the body, his hand touching the bone of the neck that prominently showed underneath the skin. "His neck broken," he states.

The wendigo growls resonate louder.

"We gotta go, now!" Dean orders.

Following his command, everyone ran. Jumping over obstacles, everyone ran as fast as they could. Ben slips and fall, but Sam immediately helps the fallen boy over. Erebus, Amber, and Juno run alongside Sam and Ben as Dean and Hailey were just ahead of them.

Suddenly, a familiar cry echoes in the forest. It was Hailey.

The others rush to the scene, only to find no one in sight. Juno steps forward, only to hear a small crack. She looks downwards to find Dean's broken torch. Worry consumes the group, and Juno calls out, "Dean!"

Walking further, Ben asks Sam, "If it keeps its victims alive, why would it kill Roy?"

"Honestly? I think because Roy shot at it, he pissed it off," Erebus bluntly chimes in.

Juno elbows his side, grabbing his attention, "Why don't you try looking at them from above?" Erebus nods, before transforming and doing as he is told.

The others continue their search on foot. Amber's eyes note a small blue circle on the dirt. She crouches down to see more clearly. They were M&Ms. "Hey, they went this way!" Amber calls out.

Sam, Juno, and Ben see the trail.

Sam chuckles, "It's better than bread crumbs."

Together all three follow the trail. Climbing down a foot of rocks, the candies leads them to a small shack. The rotting wood groaned as the wind gently blew against it.

A sign above, nailed onto the shack, stated in all caps:

KEEP OUT. NO ADMITTANCE!

"Oh, good, you're here," the others turn around to see Erebus transforms midair. He lands gracefully on the ground, the color of his scales turning to dark clothing. He turns to Juno, "I was just about to get you. Their scent ended this way."

"Nice work," Juno comments, causing Erebus to give her smile, revealing his dagger-like teeth.

Sam shudders a little at the thought of Erebus biting his head off as he peeks through a large hole of the ruin's main entrance.

"Anything inside?" Amber asks.

Sam turns to her, and only shrugs in response. It was too dark for him to see clearly. Nonetheless, Sam steps inside with the others following him close behind.

{Tunnel/Cave}

Sam turns on his flashlight as he walked throughout the tunnel. The abandoned tunnel is like a great grey snake, curving under the forest's mass. And a railway was built on their walkway.

Everyone rushes further into the tunnel and presses their body against the tunnel's brick walls as the wendigo's growls echoed throughout the narrow tunnel. Sam and Ben were on one side of the wall, while Amber, Juno, and Erebus hid on the side opposite of them. Sam peaks to see the wendigo's gangling form. Ben almost gasps until Sam quickly covered his mouth.

Erebus looks towards Sam, giving him a look signifying that the monster was gone. Sam turned towards another the corner, entering a much smaller tunnel. Following the railway, the tracks lead them into a cave.

Sam and the others follow him. They were standing on a wooden terrace. Ben took another step forward. However, the wood creak and abruptly the wooden of the terrace cracks. Everyone collapses onto the hard, cold ground of the cave.

They all groan in pain. Ben sit up only to find himself next to a human skeleton.

"Ah!" he yelps.

Sam grabs him, "It's okay. It's okay."

Juno looks to her left to see two figures hanging from their chained wrists. She pats Sam's chest with the back of her head, grabbing his attention. "It's them," she motions her head towards two unconscious people. Sam follows her gaze to find Dean and Hailey.

Ben rushes towards his sister while Juno, Amber, and Sam go to their oldest sibling.

Dean grunts as Amber lightly smacks his face, waking him up. "You okay, Dean?" she asks.

Dean mumbles out, "Ugh, yeah..." His face was drench with sweat, and his face covered in dirt.

"Hailey..." Ben pleads for his sister, "Come on, Hailey, wake up." Luckily, Hailey response to the sound of his voice with a series of coughs.

Erebus' nails grew into a claw and he breaks Dean's chains, freeing him, then doing the same to Hailey. Sam grabs Dean and lays him against a nearby rock. Dean groans out in pain.

"You sure you're alright?" Juno questions him.

"Yeah, yeah," Dean hastily answers, hiding the ache of his weary body. "Where is it?" he asks about the Wendigo.

"It's gone for now," Erebus answers.

Hailey tiredly looks up and finds a familiar figure hanging across from her. It was her brother, Tommy. She gets up and walks towards his body. He was in the same position she was in, his hand bounded above his head, imprisoning him. She sobs, "Tommy..." She reaches out her head to touch her brother.

A sudden gasp startles her, and Tommy awakens. Hailey and Ben smile joyfully. Hailey turns to Erebus and says, "Cut him down." Erebus doesn't go to them until he turns to Juno, who had to order him to do so.

Erebus severs the chain, and Sam and Amber gently grab Tommy's body and lay him on the ground.

"Hailey..." Tommy softly calls out for his sister.

"Hey," his sister smiles from above him, holding his hand.

"Ben," Tommy smiles as he sees his little brother cradling his head in his lap.

"It's okay," Ben whispers, "We're gonna get you home."

Dean grunts and he stands on his feet. "Check it out," he says, as he pulled something from his duffel bag. They were two small pistols, with a large barrel.

"Flare gun," Sam chuckles, "Those will work."

"Yeah," Dean nods. "But if not we always have smoky here," Dean motions to Erebus.

Hailey carries Tommy as the others walk together throughout the dim lit tunnel.

They stop once they hear a soft growl. The Winchester twins and Juno pull out their pistols, as Erebus' unguis once again extend.

"Looks like someone's home for supper," Dean comments.

"We'll never outrun it," Hailey says.

Dean turns to his other three siblings, "You guys thinking what I'm thinking."

"Maybe," Juno replies.

"Alright," Dean says, turning to face Hailey, Ben, and Tommy, "Listen to me. Stay with Sam. He's gonna get you guys out of here."

"What are you gonna do?" Hailey asks.

Dean turns to Erebus, "Just in case you and Juno come with me. Amber will follow Sam." Turning away, Dean walks from the others with Erebus and Juno following from behind, "It's chow time, you freakin' bastard! Yeah, that's right! Bring it on, you baby! I taste good!"

Sam leads Hailey and her siblings out as Dean is heard from the distance taunting the wendigo.

"HEY!" Dean yells. "You want some white meat, bitch!?" He stands underneath a hole in the cavern that shined the light.

"I highly doubt the thing would want to eat you," Erebus comments as he and Juno followed Dean, "I certainly wouldn't."

Ignoring the two, Juno shouts, "We're right here, come and get us!"

Sam and Amber lead the others out of the cave, with Hailey trailing behind a few steps and Ben and her carry an injured Tommy.

The growling of the Wendigo echoed next to them. Amber fires her gun, however, the Wendigo successfully moves out of the way.

Sam encourages them, "Hailey, go now!"

Hailey shakes her head, "We can't leave you behind."

"Just trust me!"

Amber leads the others further, as Sam stayed back. He presses himself against the rough stone of the tunnel, trying to make himself smaller. A low growl sounds from his right. Sam turns his head, and the wendigo cries as he raises a claw to attack Sam.

Suddenly, A plume of fire exploded into the blackness. It was Erebus, though he was stood behind the monster in his human form, he was able to ignite the flames that rested inside his body.

The wendigo cries out in pain and falls to the ground, dead.

Juno and Dean stand behind him. Dean comments, "Not bad for a lizard."

Erebus glares at him and huffs, smoke leaving his flared nostrils. The others chuckle, while Juno wraps an arm around Erebus' broad shoulder causing his lips to almost quirked into a smile.

{Ranger Station}

Paramedics and policemen arrive at the station.

Ben lied to the policeman, who wrote his report on a notepad, "That's when it circled the campsite. I mean, this grizzly must have weighed 800, 900 pounds." Sam and Amber stood by his side and nodded in agreement.

After bandaging her head, Hailey walked with Dean. She turns to him, "So, really, I don't know how to thank you." Dean turns to her with a smirk and amusement dancing in his green orbs. "Must you cheapen the moment?" Hailey laughs.

    "Yeah!" Dean responses.

A paramedic plants her hand on Hailey's shoulder, grabbing her attention. "You riding with your brother?" she asks as she motions Hailey to the ambulance truck where Tommy laid on a stretcher.

"Yeah," Hailey answers. Ben, Amber, and Sam step away from the policemen. Hailey turns to Ben, "You ready to go."

Ben nods, "Yeah. He nods in appreciation towards Sam and Amber, who nod in return.

Hailey plants a kiss on Dean's check, and says, "I hope you find your dad."

Hailey says her thanks to both Amber and Sam before turning away with Ben in her arms as they entered the ambulance and rode to the hospital.

Sam, Dean, and Amber sits against the trunk of the Impala and watched as they drove off.

"Man, I hate camping," Dean remarks.

"Me too," Sam agrees.

Amber shakes her head, "I don't mind camping.

The three Winchesters turn to see Juno and Erebus appear before them. Each of them carrying two satchels of materials.

"Thanks for saving me," Sam thanks Erebus.

Erebus stares blankly, and replies, "I was forced to."

Juno rolls her eyes, "Just take the appreciation, you cold-blooded reptile." Erebus smiles at the girl.

"You guys gonna look for dad?" Juno asks. Dean nods answering. "How long has he been gone?" she asks.

"More than five weeks," Amber answers causing Juno to purse her lips.

"You want to hit the road with us?" Sam turns to Juno and asks.

The ends of Juno's lips curl upward slightly, and she remarks, "Sure. How can I resist Sam's adorable puppy eyes anyways?"

"Well then! So are all back together again, let's go and find what other things we can hunt!" Amber announces.
