CHAPTER 63

It was evening time and one last attempt was being made by Suyodhanaa to get Sagar and Hastinapur both. She had told Dhritrashtra that if Sagar marries her then there would be no need for the division of the Kingdom.

Falling for her words Dhritrashtra called Sagar in his room, seeing Suyodhanaa also there the son of ocean immediately came to know something was up.

"Sagar ? Son, come here. Sit beside me." Dhritrashtra said sensing his presence.

Sagar came and sat down next to Dhritrashtra as the old king held his hand, his face had a pleading expression.

"Sagar, it feels like yesterday you were crowned the Yuvraj of Hastinapur and now the kingdom is about to be divided. The souls of my ancestors who have made this Kingdom what it is must be trembling from above. This division must be stopped, and it can be stopped. There still will be peace, only if you want." Dhritrashtra said.

"What do you mean Maharaj ?" Sagar asked.

"If you marry Suyodhanaa then everything will be back to normal and peace shall prevail." Dhritrashtra said.

He took Suyodhanaa's hand and was about to give it to Sagar but the son of ocean backed his hand away and looked at Dhritrashtra with disbelief.

"Maharaj, do you know what you are saying ?" Sagar said.

"Dear Sagar, Suyodhanaa wants the throne of Hastinapur and you. And because she is unable to get them she gets angry and things happen. If you marry her then all will be well." Dhritrashtra said.

Sagar looked at Suyodhanaa who had a smirk on her face for she knew Sagar out of respect cannot say no to Dhritrashtra. Sagar also understood the dilemma he was in very well.

But he also knew how to get out of it and this time he will end this problem once and for all.

"Maharaj, Suyodhanaa can never get the throne of Hastinapur and me together." Sagar said.

"What do you mean ?" Suyodhanaa frowned.

"Suyodhanaa, if you marry me then you will have to accept my first 5 wives, the Panduputris as your superiors." Sagar said.

"What !?" Suyodhanaa exclaimed.

"Yes. And Yuvrani will be Yaudhevi only because she the eldest daughter of Maharaj Pandu and my first wife. And when I become King, she will be my Patrani, the queen that sits on the throne." Sagar said.

"I can never accepted the Panduputris as my superiors ! And the throne of Hastinapur belongs to me only !" Suyodhanaa said.

"The throne of Hastinapur will belong to you if the division of the Kingdom takes place we all leave from here. But if you won't let us go then the throne can never be yours. So the choice is yours, it's either me or the throne." Sagar said.

Suyodhanaa fell in deep thinking, marrying Sagar will not give her throne and she will also have to give her 'enemies' a superior position than herself.

Not marrying Sagar and letting the division happen will mean that she will become Yuvrani and later queen of Hastinapur and there will be no Panduputris in her way.

"Pitashree, I think Yuvraj Sagar is right. The division is in everyone's favour." Suyodhanaa said.

A smirk appeared on Sagar's face as he got rid of Suyodhanaa's problem with just a little diplomacy.

Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way than they ask for directions.
