It's the next day of Amavas, and Sagar was pacing back and forth in his room. Although he knew that the news that will hit him now will be false but still it shuddered his heart.

"Ahichchatra-naresh Ashwathama wants to meet you." She said.

"Send him in." Sagar said.

The maid left and sent Ashwathama in, he came inside with numb eyes as his lips shivered at the news he was about to present.

"What ?" Sagar asked.

"I don't know if I have enough courage to say this." Ashwathama said.

At that Sagar came to know what he came here to say. He looked down sighing and then looked Ashwathama again.

"Who sent you with this news ?" Sagar asked.

"Mahamahim." Ashwathama said.

"If he has trusted you then I am sure you will have enough courage. Speak without fear my friend." Sagar said.

"You called me your friend and instead of a gift I am giving you this news." Ashwathama looked down.

"Tell me what you wish to say." Sagar said.

"Sagar, the P-Panduputris and Rajmata Kunti..... got r-reduced to a-a-ashes in Varnavart." Ashwathama said.

Even though Sagar knew it was false, the news hit him like a arrow in the heart. He told himself that this means the Panduputris safely escaped and not otherwise.

"I wish to be alone." Sagar said.

"Certainly." Ashwathama said and left.

On the other side Dhritrashtra and Gandhari were given this news by Soubalaa and were completely heart broken.
