There's a Way
~•°•~

Heavy snores filled the air as Iggy rose from his bed. There, as he sat on his bed, his chest heaved up and down as he surveyed the area, trying to find a glimpse of the shewolf who haunted his dreams from the night before. Lyra was etched in his mind and the mere thought of her being gone made his heart ached. In the room, her scent was fading away. She had been gone for hours, he could tell. Sweat silently trickled down his nape, making him cringe. He smelled like shit! He wondered how long has he had been asleep. Besides the foul smell of his own body, he picked up on another scent.

Slowly, he turned to his side. He saw the crouched figure that was Felix, snoring like a mammoth on the chair. Ignacios felt a tinge of happiness rise up in his body. Felix, although knowing he probably hated his elder brother, Ignacios had his hopes high. He missed Felix, and he hopes his brother missed him too. He bit his lower lip, a habit he did whenever he was nervous. He tried to get his bearing straight and then spoke.

"Lex," he said. "Felix."

It worked, Ignacios watched his brother slowly straightened his back and open his eyes. Lex's small frown was what greeted him while his restless grey eyes stared at him.

"Elder brother," Felix greeted. "Blessed be the Moon."

"May She shine." He replied weakly.

Felix stared at him as if waiting for an explanation. He didn't know what to say, he was scared. Feeling completely terrified of what kind of things that were running around in Felix's mind. For years, as he was trapped in his own body, Ignacios could only think about what he was missing out. His real true mate, his brother and the wolf he idolized. Now when he looked at it, he was afraid to think of it. So many things had changed that almost everything made no sense. Right now, when Felix stared at him, he could feel the rage in his brother's heart.

"You are injured," Felix said.

Ignacios lowered his gaze into his stomach, seeing a cast wrapped around it. It was probably Lyra who did it. She was the one that completely nursed him back to health.

"It appears so." He said.

The dark cloud that silently clung above their heads was suffocating him. The intent behind Felix's eyes shined brighter by the minute as he seethed in anger. He knew there was something up. Felix wouldn't be back here without any proper reason and he dreaded he knew what it was about.

"I need to speak with you, about Lyra." Felix directly spoke.

He nodded, feeling himself stiffen from the sheer coldness of his brother's voice. "What is it about?"

"Don't pretend that you don't know what I mean." Felix snickered while shaking his head. "I want to take her with me."

"To where?" He asked.

"To the South, she belongs there. She belongs to me."

Hearing that from his brother made his wolf howl with anger. That open declaration of possession was sickening him. Ignacios knew his brother was falling for Lyra, but he had always let it slide. Because at the end of the day, Ignacios knew Lyra was his and no one else'. But things have changed and Felix's hatred for his brother was fuel for more combat. He had to find a way to fix everything. He had just regained control of his body and saw his mate, he wasn't going to let the opportunity of being happy slip by.

"She belongs here, Lex. You can't do that to her."

"I only want the best for her and frankly Ignacios, you're not it."

"And you think it's you?" He raised a brow, causing his brother to sigh.

"I know I'm not the best, but at least I would never hurt her."

He frowned, the thought of hurting her was terrible. He had hurt her, but not intentionally. He didn't want to do anything that could make her feel bad. That was the last thing he wanted to do. But he knew where Felix's words were coming from. His brother had every right to be angry about him after he was exiled. He smiled a defeated one.

"Hurting her was never my intention, Felix."

"And yet you did, where does that leave you Ignacios?"

"It doesn't leave me anywhere. She is my mate, she stays with me." He answered firmly, but Felix only smiled. That mischievous grin he wore looked sinister.

"What about your Luna?"

He froze, his heart suddenly stopped beating for one second as Lois crossed his mind. Lois was nothing to him, that he knew. She was the wolf responsible for the storm of pain he was currently in. What was he going to do with her? That was the question that plagued him. A frustrated emotion flashed through him as he realized Felix had gotten him on his neck.

"She wears your mark, my brother. There's nothing you can do about it."

"And Lyra wears Evan's mark. You still can't have her."

"Ah you see, you know there's a way to fix that. Once she marks a wolf and that wolf marks her, everything will be solved." Felix said.

Oh, Moon. Felix came in ready, but no matter what was going to happen, he wasn't going to give up. He had the right to fight for her, even if it meant being selfish, he had to do it.

"Do you really think you're that wolf?"

Felix stood, his hand diving into his pants. He locked his jaw in contemplation. "Maybe, maybe I think that. But I know it's going to take time for her to trust me."

"She's not going anywhere but here, inside my borders." He finally spoke out, feeling quite pained. He was always selfish when it came to Lyra, and the thought of Felix having her for him made a strong thunderous cloud to cover his heart.

"Then I won't leave," Felix simply shrugged. "until she's the one that begs you to let us leave."

"Or I could have you get thrown out of my borders."

"Do you really think she would be happy about that?"

He stopped, knowing he wouldn't win this conversation. Felix was for better than him when it came to confrontations. But he didn't know what to do. With a quick sigh, he looked at his brother. Their silent exchange meant he had enough, he was still pretty much spent and talking with Felix and his tenacity was draining him.

"Right Ignacios, let me make this clear. If she decides to leave with me, then you give us passage through the Midlands, but if she says no, then I'll respect her wishes."

"Okay," he said, despite the turmoil that burnt his skin as he stared at his younger brother. "what else?"

"Your people will have questions, let them know that the Alpha's brother has returned as the South's Beta."

"You have my word, now please leave my room." Ignacios watched as Felix gave him a smile, leaving for the door.

He didn't mind, inside of him he hoped his brother would fail, but with Lyra, he didn't know what would happen. But he would still be there, also trying to win her heart. Even if it means battling his own sibling.

Earlier today when Lyra left Iggy in the hands of his younger brother, she had gone home to Edward's log cabin in the lake. She had taken a quick shower and slumped into her bed, getting only a couple of hours of sleep. She was still anxious about what was about to happen, Felix's presence was still a mystery. The lethal intent she sensed when she spoke to him was indeed scary. Then again, she knew that Felix was probably pissed off with his older brother.

She sighed, rolling off of her bed. She trudged outside of her room and wandered around the house. Edward was going to be home any day now, he said he would be gone for only two weeks but he hasn't returned. She wondered but had happened to him. The thought of him being caught by rogues in the Midlands scared her. Edward was a tough wolf, but the territorial wolves that made their home in the Midlands were something to afraid of. They were all ravenous the out of control, but not without a leader. A fierce king leads them. Wolves who didn't belong in the Midlands has never seen one single glimpse of him, the King of Rogues.

Lyra shook her head, wanting to do something about her unsettled feeling. As her feet threaded lightly against the wooden floor, she fingers caressed the many things her eyes set sight upon. She picked up an old photo of Edward along with Jophiel and his mate, Carmina. Lyra could feel the happiness through the pictures. But inside of her, a bitter storm ensued, her parents killed the smiling faces she was seeing. She hated this feeling, the dread of being the daughter of the wolves that ruined so many lives. She was about to put it back when it slipped off her hands. The glass shattered on the floor, causing her to back off and picking up the photo.

"Crap," she said. "I'm sorry, Neddy."

She examined the photo, noticing a part of it was folded. She opened it, letting her eyes see the faces of two unfamiliar wolves. The shewolf was smiling, her arms wrapped around the male. She was beautiful, her raven dark hair was flowing down her shoulders while the male looked at his partner with such kind eyes. Lyra wondered if these were her parents. Her heart went into overdrive, maybe this was the secret Edward was hiding.

The door behind her opened and Edward's scent wafted into her nose, but as she looked over to her shoulder, he wasn't alone. A wolf was beside him, it was Felix.

"Edward," she breathed out. "you're home."

"Yes, thankfully. The rogues this time of year was surprisingly absent." he smiled, setting his heavy load of backpacks on the floor. "It's good to know Felix is back."

Lyra set her eyes on Felix, his lip thinly smiled. "Not for long."

"What matters is you're home, my son."

"Thanks, Ned."

"Come on, let's come in and let me cook for you." Edward joyously announced and disappeared into the kitchen, leaving Felix and Lyra with raised brows. She turned to him, seeing him bare an amused smile.

"Felix." She said.

He hummed his answer and looked at her, widening his eyes. "Yes, Lyra?"

"What did you do with Ignacios?" She asked, seeing his expression darken a little. He took a long time to answer.

"Something I should have done a long, long time ago." He simply muttered and went to follow Edward into the kitchen.

She wasn't happy with that answer, instead, he felt herself going deeper down her spiral of uncontrolled madness. She looked at her hand, wanting the questions that swam in her mind to be solved and she knew where she was going to get them answered.

Felix heard the door slowly open and closed. He knew Lyra left and it was now time to have a word with Edward. He stood beside Edward and watched him moved through the kitchen, gathering bowls and cups.

"Ned, I want her out of here."

Edward stopped what he was doing and leaned against the counter. "You and I both, but we know your brother won't let her leave."

"That's why I plan to take her on the next harvest festival."

Edward sighed, the look of conflict was etched all over his face. He knew Edward was still very confused about what he needed to do. Lyra would understand why they were doing this, he thought. She needed to know how much of a bomb Ignacios was, any moment when he snapped, all of them would be in trouble.

"You know a week before the festival, it'll be his twenty-fifth birthday and he'll officially be the Alpha. That would only make things harder." Edward shook his head.

"We'll make it work." He said. Felix looked at Edward, determined to do whatever it takes to win her over.
