After the pack dinner’s festivities, Ignacios retired to his room. He was still on the high from being able to kiss her. Something he never expected to happen.
His only hope was her, and if that kiss meant anything, nothing could ever bring him down.
Even Lois, but he knew she would still prove to be trouble.
Knowing her, she had a lot of things hidden under her grimy sleeves.
As he sat in his bed, he looked outside on the balcony, recalling the kiss from hours before. Maybe he was going obsessed but he could swear, he still felt her lips caressing his, the feel of her skin still burning on the palm of his hands.
Even his wolf snickered, much to his dismay, it seemed like his wolf only responded when it felt like it.
In a hurried pace, his door exploded with rushed knocks. He groaned, standing up with a scowl on his face. He opened his door, the color on his face quickly draining away as he spot his Beta covered with blood.
“Diego,” he says, trying to help his limping Beta. “are you okay? What happened?”
He was filled with worry, making his best to anchor Diego’s ailing body. The smell of blood entered his nose, causing him to cringe. But what caught his attention was the strong stench of a foreigner wolf, something he wasn’t expecting.
“A wolf sent from the Midlands, it attacked me and took the doctor with it.” Diego says.
“Fuck,” He cursed, slinging Diego’s arm over his shoulder and carried him through the halls. “we gotta get you to the pack clinic.”
Anger overtook him. He couldn’t help but feel so torn, feeling useless and completely irresponsible. He should have gone with them, then maybe he could have saved the Easterner and his Beta.
“I’m okay, sir.”
“No, you’re not, Diego. You’re still bleeding through your bandages, you’ll need some stitches.” He shook his head.
He made sure to act as fast as he could, finding the way to the in house clinic with haste. He pushed the door open with his foot, poking his head into the room and calling out for help.
“Help, please.” He yells into the room, causing the nurse in charge to stumble on his feet.
“Dear, Moon.” The nurse helped him place the bleeding Beta on a bed. “What happened?”
“Attacked by wolves from the Midlands.” Ignacios shook his head in frustration.
“Damn them, they’ve been trying to break into our borders ever since that red-headed whore came back.” The nurse spitefully bursts. “I swear she brings all the bad luck into our pack.”
Ignacios widened his eyes. Suddenly feeling irritated by the harsh words the nurse had just uttered. It was obvious who he meant by that and all he felt was outrage.
“I’m sorry, what’s your name?” Ignacios asked, masking his anger by remaining stoic.
“Jules, Sir.” He nervously answers, all the while inspecting Diego.
“Watch where you’re poking that finger, wolf.” The Beta barked as Jules accidentally pressed his finger too harshly on to his wounds.
“Sorry, still really fresh on the job.” He says with a shaky tone.
Ignacios took a step back from them, crossing his arms over his chest. If he was a few more inches near him, he would have socked the nurse straight on his face.
“Be careful of who you call names, wolf. You wouldn’t want your throat to suddenly rip open, would you?” He dauntingly says.
Jules’ mouth slightly hung open, evidently shaking with fear from Ignacios’ words.
“Ah, yes.” Jules replied, smiling as he shook. “It seems I’ve run out of bandages, excuse me.”
As he walked away, Ignacios couldn’t help but catch fear in his walk and most especially, the smell of piss in his pants.
He turned to his Beta, still feeling very unsatisfied after making the nurse pee in his pants.
“Tell me what he meant, about the wolves from the Midlands.”
“It’s been a problem really, they come mostly at midnight sometimes during the day, almost every day, breaking through our borders and ravaging homes.”
“Do you know why?”
“As for now, I still don’t know. We haven’t caught one of them yet, but we will.”
“Why wasn’t I informed of any of this?” He says loudly, finding himself in a very angered state.
Weeks of selfishly feeling sorry for himself now felt stupid. He had let go of his duties, blindly following his emotions and forgetting his pack.
“Because of your health, sir. You haven’t been feeling well these past few weeks, especially when you were attacked, we thought you’d never pull through it.”
Ignacios locked his jaw, letting off a heavy breath. He tried to calm down. It was a nice sentiment but still, he couldn’t let that pass.
“That’s bullshit,” he shook his head. “my health is less important than my men and women’s. What kind of foolish Alpha am I if I can’t even protect you?”
He meant every single word it. How could he be an Alpha if he wasn’t able to protect the people most important to him?
“There’s also one other thing, we have a vigilante in our pack, killing off the intruders and I know who he is.” Diego looked into the Alpha’s eyes, determination plaguing his voice.
“Tell me who it is.”
What he heard was something he would never expect. But it was never impossible.
“Edward,” He says, the tone of outright seriousness. “he stays on the borders almost day and night.”
He Nodded, feeling his shoulders becoming heavier by the second. Killing wolves from other packs were always a big deal, inciting wars or even invasions. And Edward secretly killing the rouges were a huge problem.
“Since when?”
“Since his adopted daughter came back, Lyra. Rouge attacks have been increasing since.” His Beta says. “I think our best bet would be to send her off far away from here.”
No. That would be abandoning his mate, just the thought of it made his body quiver with pain.
Ignacios was sure it was one big coincidence. As far as he knows, Lyra would never side with them. A wolf-like her knows the danger of working with the untrustworthy people from the midlands.
“Absolutely not.” He answers. “She stays in my land and if you could prove she has any ties with the Midlands, I’ll be the one who talks to her.”
“Of course, my Alpha.” Diego nods, thinning his lips.
“I’ll talk with Edward tomorrow and Diego, you are my right hand you have to trust me that I will do anything to keep my pack safe. Let’s work together, okay?”
Diego no longer made a sound, he looked at his Alpha with disbelief as his words of sincerity slowly seeped into the seams of his mind.
Ignacios was tired of it all.
He had felt sorry for too long enough but now as he saw everything and everyone around him slowly being hurt and destroyed he didn’t want to sit still.
He was now in control of his body, although he could not feel his wolf, he realized that shouldn’t stop him. He wasn’t useless without his wolf. It was now time to be the Alpha who he was.

Hey! So uh, it's a double update today. It may be short but I intended it to be.
Also, Gael is really pushing his luck. What do you think will happen to him?
I realized so many things when I sat down and actually looked at the story and I'm trying hard to fix every flaw in it.
So updates are gotta be faster but shorter.
Thank you all of you so much.
I love you all.
