Monsters and Wolves

Three Years After—
~•°•~

The wind blew profusely as Lois tried to keep her hair in place. August was never a friendly month. The chill brought with it deterred anyone who dared to venture out to the Northern lands. Above the mountains where their packhouse stood firm, a silent and terrible plan was being plotted.

Inside the halls of the old mansion that could house fifty wolves, there was a secret. On the walls where scenic paintings peacefully hang, the shiny and beautiful trinkets and the decorations were just a mere distraction from the sinister plan that was starting to form.

She took a quick look at the mansion, frowning as her heart dreaded the things she was going to do. Her feet were planted on the ground as she looked over her shoulder.

“Lois, my Luna.” the wolf with the most verdant stare captured her attention. It was Diego, her Alpha’s second in hand. His tight-lipped smile caused her to frown, her desperation only worsening when he took her hand into his.

“What are you doing?” She pulled away from him, widening her eyes.

“You didn't wake me up. You left me on the bed.” He whispered.

Her eyes probe the area, seeing that everyone was still on their morning run, she faced him.

“You know why.”

His brow rose. For the past year, she and Diego had been having an affair. Their trysts were kept under wraps, with no one knowing. It was nice and slow at first, but then a tinder turned into somewhat of a brutal fire, where Diego had fallen into, burning his heart.

Even if Ignacios was there, she never had the urge to sleep with him. She was afraid of him, of his wolf. The man was a dangerous beast that no one could control, the only one who had the chance of seizing him was far away, exiled from the Northern lands.

“I don't want us to be hidden like this anymore, it sucks that I can't be the man I want to be whenever there are people around us.”

There was that feeling again. She never really loved him. He was the release that she needed. He was the kind of wolf that trusted too much. Naive and young. It hurt her knowing the only love she could receive was from the people she wickedly deceived

The price of being looked upon costs too much.

“I'm in love with you, Lois. When will you say it back?” He cupped her face, causing warmth to build up from her insides. She was drowning in his sorrowful eyes. The look of torment on him made her throat constrict with an ominous pain.

It was wrong.

Wrong.

Very wrong.

Say it back, you have to say it back.” He urged her. His warm breath brushing her face as she seized to move, her insides erupting at his lips touched her.

Tears pricked her eyes as she closed them shut. Her heart beat faster, her fingers tingled as his passion crossed her body.

She didn't deserve his love. She didn't deserve anything, especially what she had done. But the overwhelming sensation of warmth stopped her from doing anything.

Once he broke off the kiss, she watched as he crashed down on the ground. Diego was struck by a strong punch on the side of his face, causing him to lose his balance.

She quickly turned her head to her side, seeing Ignacios, his face blank and devoid of expression as he shook the pain away from his hand. He caught her eyes, making her freeze into her place and stare at him. A rush of defeat crept up from her depths as she tried hard to stay strong.

Ignacios was back too early. She didn't expect him to be here so quickly. She watched as he cocked his head, raising a brow in sheer sternness.

“You look like you've seen a man die.” He spoke.

His tone was as cold as a glacier from the South Pole. She never got used to it, she just learned to never show her fear in front of him.

“I'm going to take a bath.” He walked away from her.

Her heart chipped away as every step he took broke parts of her. The reverberating sound of him walking away caused tears to leave a trail down her cheeks.

Why didn't he care?

He caught her in the arms of another wolf but he didn't care.

She turned to look at Diego unconscious on the ground. Everyone who ever loved her seemed to always hurt, she wondered why the Moon hated her so much. Why she was never given a chance to be truly happy.

It was always just pain and suffering served on a silver platter. The kind of which that always burned her.

She turned to run after Ignacios, running up the stairs of the mansion. Her heart erratically beat as she followed his scent, running from hall to hall to catch him. Her steps echoed as he desperately cried. The empty halls of this place she called home gave her a somber emotion she always despised. She was used to having something that made thunders, now she only had the quietness that she has made.

Her eyes caught Ignacios, his back facing her as he continued to walk. Her arms hugged him, her face planted against her sweaty back. She sobbed against him.

He stopped in his tracks, sighing as he turned and looked down on her. His silvery stare causing her to unhand him. She looked down on her feet realizing what she had done.

“What is it, Lois?” He asked calmly.

What did she want? She often fell into a fit of anger whenever she thought of the things that she wanted the most. The life she craved for was far gone and nothing could ever give it back to her.

In a daze and pure carelessness, her heart spoke for her.

“Why don't you care about me?! You just caught me cheating on you and you don't even give a fuck.” She shrieked, staring him in the eyes. She wanted to know him better but he never showed her but he was. He guarded himself.

To her surprise, his mocking smile only made her shiver in fear.

“Why would I?” He asked.

“Because I'm your mate, your Luna. Your partner.”

The look on his face made her feel all too useless. She was always afraid of him until this point. Now all she felt was anger, defeat, and remorse.

“What am I suppose to feel about this, Lois?”

“I want you to be mad, upset, or at least, show a little bit sign that you care about me.” She pleaded. Her anger was already getting the best of her, making her tremble. “Why can't you do that?”

“Why would I be mad at something I knew for months now?” He asks, raising a confused brow.

She felt an arrow pierce through her. Cutting deep in her as she realized he didn't give one single shit about her. Ignacios was indeed a monster.

With a heavy breath, she used her strength to slap him across the face. Her palm stinging in pain.

“I bet that must have felt nice.” He taunted, dauntlessly smiling down at her tear-drenched face.

“You are a monster.” She quivered as she spoke, raising her chin in defiance.

“I am a monster of your creation.” He looked all too dangerous. His silence sent her into the precipice of madness that slowly mocked her into falling. “Why must you complain when all you have done is take away everything from me? You take and take, reap what you can but never give something in return. That's why your mate left you.”

A chill traveled down her spine as he used his hands to wipe away the tears that harshly fall against her cheeks. He was warm yet unfathomably cold at the same time.

Her mate was long gone too. She remembered him, but the single memory of him beckoned tears to her eyes.

He forced her to look up, meeting his dull gaze.

“Remember Lois, as I lead this body, not Ignacios, not you or anyone for that matter can tell me what to do.” His finite tone caused her to fall to her knees.

The despair in her cold body reduced her into a crying mess.

“Get up,” he said. “you are pathetic.”

With that, he sighed and turned on his feet. Walking away, leaving her to drown in her own tears. Regret was always the last thing that struck anyone, and the things she had done were slowly catching up to her.

She was left, simmering in anguish, with nothing but her loneliness to console her broken body.

Hello there everybody! Here's the filler update I didn't promise you all. 😅

You might be wondering why this chapter doesn't have Lyra in it, well, I did this on purpose to show you all what has been going on in the pack and give you a little bit context without spoiling you all from the plot.

Lois, as much as you hate her, is a complex character that I would love for you to get to know!

Please tell me what you think by commenting, and voting helps a lot too!

Loving you always,
