Interview: NightDreaming
1. What is your name?
I like to go by Nickie Moon on Wattpad.
2. How would you describe yourself?
I'd say I'm very passionate! I like to really think about the things I enjoy, as well as real-world issues, where I'll probably add my two cents. I'm pretty bouncy and silly, too. :P
3. What languages do you speak?
I speak fluent French and English!
4. Have you ever been to a foreign country? Anywhere other then the one you would call home? If so, what are some interesting things you saw there?
Well, I've been to America, and that's the only other country I've ever visited actually! Recently I visited Chicago, and it was a lot of fun to see the big-city air that place has, since my city is pretty small.
5. What is it that inspires you to write? Is it a person? A place? Anything!
Initially, I first started writing because my sibling did it and I thought it would be fun to do what they were doing. The book series that inspired me most was actually Warrior Cats, and I went off of those books to write my own stories about animals! My cottage inspires me a lot, too, since out there I do a lot of exploring around the woods and the beaches, and I find lots of interesting places to add to my stories.
6. Why did you choose your username on here, does it represent you? Is there a story behind it?
Ever since I was a kid, I've had trouble with falling asleep and waking up in the night. With all that REM from waking up and falling asleep again, I dream a lot. My username is a play on "daydreaming," replacing "day" with "night."
7. How old were you when you took an interest in writing?
I think I was about 10 years old!
8. What was the first story you wrote that you can remember? What was it about? Is it on Wattpad?
The first story that I wrote was called "We Will Never be the Same Again" and it was about pets that were stolen from pet stores and tested on in a secret underground facility. The pets then escaped and vowed that they'd use the powers and mutations they were given to help humans. It was really weird.
9. Do you prefer to write your story on paper first? Or do you just go straight to the computer?
I go straight to the computer. My notes and visuals are all here!
10. How did you find Wattpad, and what about Wattpad is the reason you decided to stay once you found it?
My sibling joined the site as soon as she turned 13 because they were really excited about being able to reach the age requirement. I joined a year later when I turned 13, and stayed because I met a whole bunch of friends on here!
11. What is your favorite book on Wattpad, what is it about this story that makes it your favorite, and why would you suggest this book to others?
I really love dreamofnowhere's Warrior Cats fan fiction "Warriors on the Prowl - Tumbling Shadows." It's just such an interesting take on the Warriors series, and the author's writing style is just breathtaking. I believe, however, that it won't be updated any time soon, sadly.
12. Who is your favorite author in all of Wattpad? What are some of their stories that you have read and what makes them your favorite?
I know it's funny that my favorite author didn't make my favorite book, but my favorite Wattpad author has to be LightningstripeDFTBA. I remember really loving the style of their writing in their various stories!
13. How did you find out about Warriors and what made you stick to the series?
I read the French translation of Fire & Ice when I was only maybe 8 or 9 when I saw it on the school library's shelves. I really liked the idea, so I read them in the English Language, starting from the first one. I stuck with it for a long time because I liked Longtail for whatever reason, then I gave it up for a bit because I noticed a lot of flaws. Afterwards, though, I decided that maybe it'd be better to read them again and make sure to think critically of the books and give whatever insight I can find to other readers!
14. What is your favorite scene from any of the books and why is it your favorite?
I adore the scene in Skyclan's Destiny when the Skyclan cats find that kid that fell down the cliff and try to heal it. Then they made a show of stealing the hats and all that to lead the parents there and save the kid!
15. Who is your favorite character from Warriors (not a fan fiction) and why is that character your favorite?
I have to say Hollyleaf! I like how she doesn't really take any, er, "brown sugar."
16. What would your warrior name be and why?
I have a Warrior Cats OC that is based off of a part of me, and her warrior name is Dreamchaser. I'd take that name any day!
17. What inspired your fan-fiction(s)? Both from in the original series as well as from your everyday life.
The inspiration I took from the original series were its flaws. Seriously, when I noticed any negative message, any error, any unrealistic thing, I thought of it and I thought of what a cat would say if they were against it; and thus, Ripplestar and Rippleclan were born! I was also inspired by nature trails in my city, which is where I decided to locate the clan.
18. How many people that you know in person also read warriors?
Three of my cousins read a few, I think my friend's brother read them all, and I'm unsure if my old friend still reads them.
19. Has anyone you've known in person made fun of the fact that you read Warriors?
Oh yes! All throughout elementary school people would see me reading them, and they'd say something along the lines of: "MEOW!! Come on cats it's time for the quest to find the golden yarn!!" haha.
20. What is your favorite warriors fan fiction on Wattpad? Why is it your favorite and who is the author?
Well, my favorite book on Wattpad is also my favorite Warrior Cats fan fiction! I answered that on question 11.
21. Who's your favorite character from a fan-fiction on Wattpad?
It has to be Frailghost, the medicine cat of Rowanclan in dreamofnowhere's fan fiction Warriors on the Prowl - Tumbling Shadows.
22. What tips would you like to give to any aspiring authors?
Don't stop if you like what you're doing, even if people are telling you it isn't good!
23. Is there anything that you'd like to say to your fans and readers? Any shout outs to specific Wattpad members?
Honestly rathakitty was such a good friend to me when I wrote the original Mist in the Ripples, so shoutout to her! Anyone who's a fan of my fan fictions, thank you so much for your support! It means a lot to me that people actually read and enjoy my story, so I can't thank you enough.
24. What is your favorite fandom?
Honestly the Adventure Time fandom, in my experience, has been the best fandom I've ever been in.
