Designated Girl Fight: Girl Fights The Only Other Girl Trope

"Alright, listen up. The final battles are set up. The main protagonist will fight the big bad. His mirror opposite in terms of actual backstory, characterization, development and history?"

"The rebel bad boy will take on the second in command who's responsible for turning him against the other heroes. "

"The strong guy of the group will take on the psycho brute with the biggest body count, including his family."

"The brains of the groups will engage in an intellectual showdown with the mad scientist that tortured his hometown."

"And the girl of the group is going to fight the evil girl in the group."

"Wait....that's it?"

"Yeah, I don't see much of a problem."

"All of the other protagonists have their own goals and motivations, but it's just...girl vs girl with dark clothing? You guys didn't put any other thought into this?"

"Well maybe they're in love with the protagonist?"

"That's it? A love triangle? Isn't that kinda sexist?"

"Hey, chill, feminist, it's misogynistic to say women can't be in love. That's a bit damn regressive, dontcha' think?"

"Oh I have no problem with that! The issue isn't women have crushes on boys...girls..who over. The issue is they're only tied to men as characters or we advertise them as relevant, and barely do anything with them."

"Okay, so what are you suggestion?"

"Easy. Flesh them out like the rest. Maybe you can do as a introvert who opens up and tries to uplift others versus a girl who was rejected and wants to make the world one where she can control the people so no one will have to put her down."

"Or we could tie them into the same village: one girl survived and gained the drive to become a proper leader of her people while the other one grew resentful of the system that failed to protect her and wants to destroy and preserve them all."

"Or even better, we could tie themselves to the backstory of the lore. The girl could be a powerful mage attempting to save their rival born in darkness, meant to be used and manipulated by someone who gave up their humanity, just like her: only to end up watching her fall to a dark mage that abandoned themselves to darkness and could've end up just like her."

"Yeah but that sounds like way too much work."

"Fine, make a childhood best friend who wants to help her future crush do something and become a proper heroine against the the recruit of a terrorist cell member that abandoned humanity. That's at least the bare minimum."

"How about we make them fight and with every piece of damage, they lose their clothes."

"They're fifteen years old!"

"Nothing wrong with showing a little skin."

"Keep it in your pants!"

"Wait, why do they have to be just the girl? Can't we make the leader, the rebel, the muscle, or the smart one? The girl doesn't always have to be the compassionate one."

"Yeah, we could make two girls on the team instead of one."

"Or make three out of five members in the group women?"

"Now hold up, let's not get ahead of ourselves there."

"Wait, why don't we make the girl's rival one of the guys? Let her have beef with the villainous second in command."

"Oh so we can make the protagonist have to come safe her!"

"What, no, the protagonist should be motivating her to get at that point!"

"Fine, let's compromise. Life's a lot easier when there weren't any--

"Any what?"

"Uh, never mind."
