Madhu: Hi Diya! First off, congratulations of winning's Wattpad's Got Talent! We loved your song selection and the way you presented it. Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got into singing?

Diya: Ok, I am from Kolkata, and I am studying Bsc in a girls college under Calcutta University.

My Mum's dad learnt singing from Debabrata Biswas, he's Rabindra sangeet singer... my mother learnt singing too... I learnt singing for 4 years... in this way I got into singing...

My mum was the one who got me into singing...

Madhu: Sounds like you are very close to your mother. Do you consider her as your inspiration?

Diya: Yes, she is my inspiration ❤

Madhu: She must be very happy to see you follow her footsteps. Is there a reason behind you choosing the songs that you've sung throughout the WGT?

Diya: She is not a singer... she is a housewife... but she wanted to be a singer...

Yes... I love Taylor Swift... and her song did something bad was one if my fav... I chose that song... cos

The song was a sassy number which she wrote about the haters (including her exes) who said that 'she did something bad' but that made Taylor felt good... (She's Da Queen) .... I love the confidence in this song so that's I chose it

I also love Little Mix, The Beatles, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Arijit Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Monali Tagore eyc.

Madhu: That's an eclectic mix of really great singers, though my preferences tend to stray away from them. Which one song would choose to say that it defines who you are?

Madhu: I used to love that song when I was 10. But then I grew out of that phase. :P Many writers claim to be inspired by music. How would you say that music influenced your writing?

Diya: Me too that was my fav song when I was around 10 to 14 but then I became bore.
Rn, This song kinda sounds like myself ... at the moment can't think of any other song apart from that Lol XD

I write songs... Writing songs since I was young around 8 or 9 ... Have written many many songs...
Not only music, almost everything in my life has influenced on my writing, music has also been a major part on my motivation towards writing... music stimulates me, encourages me in it's own way... tbh... I think music is somewhat like a person with psychic powers... Somewhat like Jean Grey... you know the imperius curse... it can control you... without your consent... I feel music does that too... but with consent... (am i going sorta off topic? I am talking odd again....I am such a loony lame oddity)

So I believe music is psychic, it controls our emotions... it controls me, it inspires me towards writing... both music and Writing are sorta linked to each-other ya know [Music > writing, writing > music] ....

Madhu: I get what you're saying and that's not looney at all. I believe that music helps everyone is one way or another. What would you say is your ultimate goal you strive to accomplish in the field of music?

Does that affect your writing in any way?

Diya: Currently I am boat without no direction... studying Bsc... after that I don't know what should I do... I am studying for Clat along with that.... and also studying for job exams like Staff Selection Commission... I wanted to study Msc in economics... but with my current educational conditions, I don't think that I'll ever reach...my Mother wanted me to become a Economics Professor, My dad want me to give the IAS, my Maternal uncle want me to become a Lawyer like the rest of our ancestors...but for me, nothing is possible...he he...

First I want to learn classical music again, then I want to become a singer...I write my own songs... I give music to my own songs (Thanks to the apps and computer softwares LOL XD) ... I'll learn about different types of musics, I'll keep on learning new things about it...If a career in the music fied is possible, then I'll make a music band, launch my Album... and post it on different social media and make my own fanarmy (LOL XD HAHA)

Yes... no... I don't know... I'd never thought about that before... about my goals in the music field affecting my writing... I guess it may does... or it may not does...

Madhu: Ultimately it is up to you to make a decision regarding what you want to study. I'm sure you'd do well if you can concentrate and keep at it.
Hehe. What will you call your fanarmy? What is the one major element from music would you want to be reflected in your writing?

Diya: I haven't thought about fan armies ha ha for now... how about "The Lala's"? Haha XD

I want melody element...and the rhythm and the form... tbh, I want all the elements on my writing... if that really happens then my writing would have been very much musical he he...

Madhu: That reminds me of High School Musical in a way. Any favourite musicals?

Diya: A very potter musical ;) ❤ what's urs?

Madhu: Same! ♥️ Apart from that, I'd love to see a zombie musical.

What did you think of Wattpad when you first joined it? And who introduced you to it?

Diya: I thought it was pathetic.... tbh when I first came here, my story was removed, Thanks to it's glitches... I cried and after enailing wattpad, they seek forgiveness and returned it back... then I understood that it was better... million times better ❤❤

I knew about Wattpad since a long time ago... but never joined... Internet introduced me into Wattpad

Madhu: I'm glad that you got over the initial obstacles and got to this point.
If you could be a genre, which one of the musical genres would you be?

Diya: I would prefer the Pop... especially Synth Pop... and Acoustic pop... any pop... I love every pop ❤

Madhu: When you are so passionate music, why do you write?

Diya: You mean to say that "When did you became so Passionate about music? Why do I write songs?" :)

"And stories?" :)

I don't know when Did I became so Passionate about it... It just happened on it's own

I love writing songs and stories... cos it gives me inner satisfaction, inner freedom, it gives me inner peace and makes me happy

Madhu: It's not very often that everyone finds their niche in life so early.
