SpinyKyverna is an amazing writer on Wattpad who has written his own series 'Bachelor King' which is now on book twenty one. He is a good friend of mine and a very loyal reader as well as being a great writer on Wattpad who deserves to be more well-known. Here is what he had to say!

Why did you start writing on Wattpad?

I've always loved expressing the different worlds and universes in my imagination. I wrote my first book when I was eleven; a picture book about dinosaurs. After I became homeschooled, I had a lot more time to write. I began to write on fictionpress.com then on inkitt.com. I was finding fanfiction for a certain movie when I came across Wattpad. And the rest is history.

Which book has been the most fun to write?

I think every new episode becomes my favorite. It's always an interesting challenge to maintain a single storyline since it is a continuous multi-episode series. But I do have selected scenes I do enjoy reading again. For example episode 14 brings us the first battle between Amarkia  (the name of the fictional country where the series is set) and their archenemies. Though it's not the first battle in their 95 million years of existence, it's the first one we get to experience as readers. However, like I said, I enjoy the episode I'm currently working on; right now it's episode 21.

What's the best part about writing on Wattpad?

Here on wattpad, I can share my stories not only with other people my age, but also people my age from all across the world, crossing different cultures and ethnicities. That makes it more enjoyable to me. I've made many friends who help me to improve my writing and have kindly made those beautiful covers which are the first things people see. Surprisingly, most of readers are teen girls from other countries. But I enjoy it, seeing how few male writers there are on Wattpad and I'm trying to disprove many stereotypes about us guys.

Who is your writing inspiration?

I'm not sure. Most of my ideas are originally thought. When I was a little kid, I played "dinosaurs" with my cousin who has also contributed an great deal to creating this universe. However, he wishes to remain anonymous and doesn't want to receive any credit. Over the years we've been developing and changing the world my characters live in; from a simple prehistoric kingdom to an entire planet in another galaxy inhabited by dinosaurs and dragons, to the current concept: a small yet highly modern country where extinct creatures and humans co-exist. However, on some concepts and details I do have inspiration from other sources: these are life itself (from which I base some stories), the Bible (from which many Amarkian laws are based) Star Wars and Star Trek, (where I mix and match technology) and the such. But mostly, it's stuff I come up with.

What's the hardest part about writing on Wattpad?

Getting heard is especially difficult on Wattpad. I've been here since December of 2015. Thankfully I have over 100 followers but only three of them actually take time to read and leave feedback. I understand we all have busy lives but it's still frustrating. I enjoy reading other great stories with millions of reads but it also depresses me because I know I'm far from being as good as them. Another issue is that my personal opinion on certain matters is often ridiculed and misinterpreted as prejudice or hate. However, I always maintain to remain respectful and never answer to intentional insults or provocations. Just be careful of how you defend your morals and/or principles.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

As said before, my ideas originate from my own imagination. And my inspiration is from observing life, science and fictional stuff and knowing just the right way to mix them up. I like to see the world the way I would like for it to be instead of how it is. can do absolutely anything I want to do!!

And finally, what advice would you give to a new writer on Wattpad?

Persistence is key. Nothing here happens overnight or even in two years. Make sure to always do your best and accept constructive criticism. Patience is also key. Don't place your goals so high you can't reach them. Also, be patient with others. Not everyone shares your same morals, set of beliefs or lack of by them. Don't write or change what you believe to accommodate others. For example, if you believe that premarital sex is wrong, don't change those beliefs just to be more popular or be accepted by others. Being respectful to others doesn't mean you have to accept their beliefs. And just do your best. Your time will come.
