Editing

This chapter is about the importance of editing.

In my book, Anything For You, I edited, re-edited, re-re-edited, and did a final edit. My book now has 45.7k reads.

How to edit properly:

Read every single chapter you've ever written carefully. Check for spelling and grammatical errors.

I always edit after publishing a chapter.

Even if you don't notice any errors, you can add on to sentences and describe things more. You can draw out seemingly boring sentences and turn them into something much better.

Example: He ran after the dog.

Now break the sentence into 2 parts: He ran after | the dog.

Part 1 questions to ask: Who? Does 'he' have an established name? If so, what is it? Can we make his actions more interesting? Can we expand on this?

Part 2 questions to ask: Why is the dog running? Did the dog escape? When did the dog start running? Can we elaborate a bit?

Edited: Jack chased after the dog that had escaped mere moments ago when Jack turned his back.

The second sentence is much more interesting now, isn't it?

Edit your books every once in a while when you get writer's block and can't think of a plot for your other book.

Edit books you've completed already, you might've missed something when you edited previously.

Editing is one of the most important factors of being a good writer.
