Meet the Star: cappuchienooo

I started writing since I was seven. I don't really remember what started my drive for it, because for as long as I can remember, there's not a time when I wasn't writing. I've always been an imaginative child. Because of my prolonged daydreams and wandering mind, I think it was only natural that I fell in love with hobbies that also cater to the imagination.

More than ten years ago, I was looking for a home for my paranormal/supernatural story, The Genesis. I browsed the web and found this cute website where you can share your stories for free. Wattpad wasn't that popular in the Philippines yet, so I was also super amazed when it suddenly exploded in popularity in the following years.

I think I'm proud of all of my stories because they share a part of me that I will never be able to take back again. But if you'd ask me to list down the specifics, I'd say: Decoding The Boys, for being the first story I fleshed out and finished; Te Quiero, for being too close to my heart and the home of my inner thoughts; The Genesis, for being my brainchild. Between these three, The Genesis is the one I love the most because I've prepared this story for more than ten years now.

Every memory I have with Wattpad is exceptional. Each friend I made here is tattooed on my mind. I met best friends here, sisters, colleagues. As for the most remarkable experience, it would be the day when I first got appointed to become one of the staff :) It was a total life-changer.

My favorite people—if you read any of my stories, know that I'm writing them because I have a story to tell and a journey to show. I don't follow the usual format or style we see here or in other books because I'm only staying true to the story I want to convey. I don't write things half-assed or half-heartedly. I always put all my cards out because I owe it to myself and my characters.

I'd like for people to have an open mind when they consume my stuff because when you do so, you also take in a part of me. And if it's possible, please don't read my stories for the "kilig" stuff. Instead of choosing ships, I want you to embrace the journey of the characters and root for them because of their growth, not because of who they're romancing. I write because these characters are growing. My eternal hope is we grow with them.

First, we are all creators no matter what anyone would say. Never let anyone put you and your craft down. Not fame, not detractors, not even your inner editor.

Second, before we become accountable to others, we must first be accountable to ourselves. Writing what you want to write is important. Writing what you want to read is also important. Writing for passion and for fun are also important. But above that, writing for your growth is the most important. We all start somewhere. In your journey in finding your style and honing your craft, I hope you will also learn that what we put out there creates a ripple effect. You have the voice and the power to inspire change. Please do not immortalize stories that you will regret writing in the long run. Please do not write stories that will harm others in ways you can't imagine. You can make it fun, you can make it strong, but above all, you can make it inclusive. Be the voice to the voiceless, not the foot that silences them.

Lastly, write for yourself. Write because it matters to you. Write because you have a story to tell. Forget fame and all the glitz and glitters that come with it. Love the act of writing itself, because the moment you do, it will translate into your writing and your passion will eventually touch the hearts of your readers. Be your first fan! It's not a competition. The only competitor you have right now is "you" from the past. Stay strong in writing!

I would like to recommend Natalie's Diary for paranormal lovers and floeful's stories for readers who want immersive storylines and powerful storytelling. I'm also highly recommending my all-time favorite writers: greenwriter and raindrops_. I swear you will never regret reading their stories!

The stars program opened a safe space for writers to share their craft, opinions, and experiences to their fellow writers. I love how it allows us to connect more with others while opening a direct communication line with HQ for our urgent and pressing concerns.

I'm thankful to have won a Watty Award with my story, Decoding The Boys. The same story was  also a part of the Paid Program.
