Monika: Born as the 12th Boundary Interface Prime Field Device in the 5th Hierarchical City of Ibukido on December 25th, 2194 by Sector Seven, Mu-12 was being tested by the scientists to access the power of the Azure deep within the Boundary.

Junko: In actuality, they were creating a Black Beast by having Mu fuse with Yuki Terumi to win against the Novus Orbris Librarium. Of course, like any mad scientist with a genius plan that goes horribly wrong, it came as no surprise that this went horribly wrong.

Monika: The Takamagahara System didn't really like the idea of a new Beast rampaging in the world, so they used the Nox Nyctores, Gigant: Takemikazuchi, to blow up the entire city of Ibukido. In some timelines, this kills Mu, but in the other ones, Mu survived the attack as she was in her cocoon and The Origin used the blast's energy to recreate herself inside Mu, who was later found in the burning fields of Ikaruga with no memory of what just happened. Luckily, Mu was discovered by Edgar and Claire Vermillion who adopted and renamed her, Noel Vermillion, as they raised her to be their foster daughter.

Junko: That is until two years after her adoption, when Noel's dear parents were about to be banished from the NOL. 

Monika: Now concerned about her family's future, Noel took the entrance exam to the Military Academy and though her physical and academic results were average, her synchronization rates with the Ars Magus were the highest ever recorded, allowing her to pass the exam and enter the Academy in the year, 2196.

Junko: Where she would become fast friends with Tsubaki Yayoi, Makoto Nanaya, and Mai Natsume. Too bad Jin Kisaragi treated her like dirt just because she reminded him of his sister, Saya. We'll come back to her later. Six months before she even graduated though she was given an offer to join the army as a lieutenant in the 4th division of the Praetorian Guard and to be Jin's secretary in the year 2198. But to nobody's surprise, Jin still treated her like shit.

Monika: But nobody can deny that she's incredibly strong.

Monika: Her physical attacks are strong enough to damage a seithr-amped Take-Mikazuchi, whose lasers are strong enough to annihilate Hierarchical Cities. She's strong enough to trade blows with the likes of Jin, Ragna, and Tsubaki in her base form, and has even fought her own Mu-12 form, which is strong enough to fight the more powerful characters in her universe like Hakumen and Izanami. She's even faced Unlimited Ragna, who was fully berserk and wielding the power of the Black Beast, a being far more powerful than Take-Mikazuchi.

Junko: As a Prime Field Device, she's stated and shown to traverse the Boundary, which is infinite in size. She's actually one of the fastest in the series, even faster than Hakumen who can dodge Bang's light-speed attack. She can even keep up with Iron Tager, who can fly into the exosphere and back at 0.01% the speed of light!

Monika: She's even managed to keep up with the likes of Hazama and Terumi, the latter of whom could reach into the Takamagahara System at 1/480,000th of a second. 

Junko: So yeah, she's a tough gal who can give as much as she takes, all with a chest as flat as cardboard!

Junko: Noel is the textbook definition of the "shrinking violet" archetype. She's extremely shy, clumsy, and tends to get worked up over the smallest things, particularly her breasts. No wonder Taokaka calls her a lacking lady. Some would even mistake her for a boy!

Monika: Best not to do that though, since it would trigger a dormant volcano of emotion directed at the person who called her that, and when she is finally angry, will call the remark an 'Obstruction of Justice'. 

Junko: Damn, talk about overreacting!

Monika: Still, she's extremely apologetic for everything she does wrong. She loves cute things and is ready and willing to help out whenever she can.

Junko: Especially with her expert gunsmanship!

Monika: Right, Noel expertly combines her gunslinging with martial arts moves to perform a "gun-fu" style of combat. She's one of the cast's most combo-happy characters in gameplay, emphasizing on swift, high-damaging combos to put the pressure on her foes.

Junko: And what is a Gun-Fu fighting style without her favorite guns?! Arcus Diabolus: Bolverk!

Monika: Bolverk is the third Nox Nyctores, appeared as shapeshifting guns, starting from two handguns, to a multi-barrel machine called Fenrir, a shotgun called Freyja, a rifle called Thor, and a machine gun called Sleipner. The main ability of Bolverk is creating blasts and shots that pierce through space, bypassing defenses and barriers.

Junko: It can even cause permanent damage to the body and soul, to the point that not even reality warping can fully heal her foes!

Monika: It also gives her access to unique techniques like her Overdrive, Distortion Drives, and Exeed Accel.

Junko: Wait, we're going over those now?

Monika: First her Overdrive, Chain Quasar, which increases the effectiveness of her Drive combos. These include Zero Gun: Fenrir, where she jams the barrel of her guns forward before spraying them with machine gun fire, then blows them away with a charged shot from the Nemesis Stabilizer. It also includes Bullet Storm ⇒ Zero-Gun: Thor, where she fires a volley of bullets which is followed by a missile.

Junko: And of course there's her Exceed Accel, Zero-gun: Sleipnir! After entering her Chain Quasar, she hits the foe before firing Thor at them as she transforms Bolverk into a railgun to fire a blast as it chases down her opponent being rocketed by the recently fired Thor! If used in her Active Flow, she can use her Chamber Shot and Fenrir with Thor before using this move as a bonus to deal massive damage!

Monika: But we can't forget about her Astral Finish, Valkirye Veil!

Monika: Where she creates a shield in front, blocking the next attack. If she is hit during this time, she instantly counters the attack and follows it up by shooting her opponent multiple times and creating an explosion that destroys the foe with the energy glowing in the background.

Junko: Right, but aren't we covering all this a little too fast?

Monika: Well, there's still a lot more to unpack. For the most part, we need to talk about her... immortality...

Junko: Oh god not this again...

Monika: First, she has a Life Link with Hazame and Izanami. To make a long story short, it makes it so that she could never die unless you kill those two at the same time. Of course, she would later absorb Izanami so now this Life Link only applies to Hazama. 

Junko: Can't say it's not effective. I mean, Nu-13 has a Life Link of her own, allowing her to survive the Boundary, and holds infinite information and memories dating back from the beginning of time. This Boundary is linked to every dimension in Blazblue's multiverse and holds an endless amount of Seithr. A dip in the Boundary could fill your head with an infinite amount of information, granting you Seithr poisoning that could make you go insane, and even erase your entire being from existence, yet Nu-13 came out of it just fine!

Monika: And Noel Vermillion is much stronger in comparison. Not even Tsubaki's Immortal Breaker or Hakumen's Time Killer is enough to kill her, the latter of which is stronger than the Boundary's ability to erase beings across the past, present, and future.

Junko: She's also been acknowledged as the Eye of the Azure, granting herself another layer of immortality.

Monika: To truly test how powerful Noel's immortality is, she can survive Doomsday itself.

Junko: What is Doomsday you ask? Well, it's an event when everything will return to seithr and all souls will return to the Azure. It can only be created by users of large-scale Phenomenon Intervention. The Chosen are unaffected by this process. All the infinite possibilities and timelines will be absorbed and destroyed, and the only place left will be the Embryo, a being higher than the Multiverse itself, which will eventually fall as well until there's nothing but the Void.

Monika: Not only can Noel survive the destruction of both the Boundary and the Embryo, but she can also create both. She can even do a lot more with the power of Phenomena Intervention.

Monika: Also known as Event Interference, it's an act of interference on existences and events. Interference occurs when someone with a will Observes the event. This ability can change its target's state from "exist" to "not exist" and vice versa. If it cannot be determined if the target actually "exists" or not, it is almost impossible to perform an Event Interference. Since a sudden disappearance of the target would shock those surrounding it, their memories are altered as well. An Event Interference also allows the user to erase one reality and overwrite it with another In other words, it imposes a result of a certain phenomenon from a parallel world into the current world. Changing a possibility into reality.

Junko: Of course, because Noel is the eye of the Master Unit, her use of Phenomena Intervention ranges from changing ones fate, stopping time, or teleporting others away to entire time loops, or distorting all of reality like when Noel caused the Continuum Shift. Her use of it is just as good, if not better than the Master Unit.

Monika: And that's only scratching the surface of what Noel is capable of. She can easily read minds with a touch, subconsciously conceal her presence from ninjas, and even separate her memories from her body.

Junko: Wait, don't you need some Observation ability to even use Phenomena Intervention?

Monika: Well, yes, but it's not something Noel needs to worry about. As a Chronophantasma, she is an unobservable being, but still somehow exists even though beings who aren't observed don't exist, rendering her in a state where she's neither existing nor not existing. This also means any abilities, weapons, and powers that are restrained by Logic can't harm her since she's a being outside of Logic. 

Junko: Of course she is...

Monika: Also, Prime field Devices are made through self-observation as stated by Kokonoe and Litchi, the former compares its observation to the Nox Nyctores' process at a conceptual level.

Junko: So she doesn't need to worry about constantly observing herself because her body will constantly do it for her?

Monika: Well, in the world of Blazblue, the Azure Grimrore can get the job done.

Monika: The Grimoire allows the user to absorb souls to replenish their health, either by aura or contact. It can absorb objects and dreams as well as nullify mechanisms. This Grimoire isn't really a book, but with enough control, the user is capable of erasing the opponent from existence, regardless of whether the opponent can resist the erasure of the multiverse or regenerates after being erased from the timeline. 

Junko: Still, this thing is merely a knockoff of the real deal, and because Noel has the Eyes of the Azure, she can do everything that cheap copy can do and more. This includes nullifying reality-warping abilities like Phenomena Intervention or the Will of Order.

Monika: Of course, things get even crazier once she turns to her Murakumo form, Mu-12.

Monika: The true form of Noel Vermillion, also known as the Sword of the Godslayer: Kusanagi. When awakened, she only had the goal of eliminating the Master Unit: Amaterasu, and ending the world.

Junko: That's not good. Luckily Rachel Alucard herself helped Noel gain better control of her powers, and better control of this form too. 

Monika: Right. In this form, Noel becomes a lot calmer, being able to fly, create wormholes, and telekinetically control the blades around her.

Junko: She has the same abilities as Nu and Lambda, with Lambda being capable of reactive evolution, teleportation, and creating blackouts with her mere presence while Nu can create entire copies of her opponents, paralyze them, or even possess them!

Monika: And once she absorbed Izanami into her, Noel gained all of her abilities as well, including her ability to manipulate elements, control gravity, control time, and manipulate the souls of the dead.

Junko: Anyway, Mu-12 possesses the tenth Nox Nyctores, Lux Sanctus: Murakumo!

Monika: It's the only Nox Nyctores capable of creating without the Black Beast as a core, appearing as a giant sword but when activated, it turns into armor and 8 swords surrounding the user.

Junko: Its abilities are just as versatile, connecting to the Boundary to pull out limitless energy from the dimension, telekinetically moving their swords, flight, summoning swords and turrets, absorption that can work on illusions and even abstract entities, creating gravitational fields, teleportation even to other dimensions, firing energy, creating barriers, binding and knockout, distortion of space-time, analysis of certain lifeforms, clairvoyance to the future, you name it!

Monika: It also comes equipped with her Drive, Steins Gunner.

Junko: A noob, rush-down players worst nightmare! She can place four of these things in the air and watch as they shoot lasers or even blow up in your face!

Monika: They also work with her Overdrive, Distortion Drives, and Exeed Accel.

Monika: Her Overdrive, Steins Geizer, increases the power of the lasers fired by her Steins. Her first Distortion Drive, Omohikane, the foe and rains energy spears at them while her second one, Yata no Kagami, draws energy from the Steins. The more Steins there are, the stronger it becomes.

Junko: Then there's her Exceed Accel, Tsuchi Ikazuchi, where she commands her blades to surround the foe before blasting them with a pillar of light!

Monika: But of course, we can't forget about her second Astral Finish, Kamigoroshi no Tsurugi!

Junko: Hell yeah! entraps her foe in a barrier, then summons eight enormous blades! She then calls the swords down to rain on the foe, engulfing them in an explosion that instantly annihilates them and does immense damage to the entire landscape!

Monika: But even with all this power, she has her weaknesses too.

Junko: Yeah you're right... her cooking sucks ass too. Seriously, who's letting these chicks in the kitchen?

Monika: Well, aside from that, she has other flaws too. She's clumsy, somewhat emotionally fragile, and lacks self-esteem. She tends to be the damsel in distress quite often and is self-conscious about her notoriously flat breasts. She also hates bugs, especially those with lots of legs.

Junko: Still, she accepted her destiny and proved once and for all why she is the Successor to the Azure.

Noel: You're right. No, it's true. I am a puppet. But even then, there's nothing false about my desires to save Tsubaki. As long as I feel that way, I will always be Noel Vermillion. Whether I am a human or a doll... It has no bearing on my thoughts or my feelings! I will never lose again. Not to you... And above all, not to myself!
