Kokonoe: For over 200 years there has been a ritual where seven mages summon heroes from the past to fight it out and retrieve the Holy Grail, an ancient artifact said to be able to grant any wish.

Junko: This why this ritual was known as the Grail Wars. There have been multiple throughout the Fate series, but we're going to focus specifically on Fate/Stay Night, where only 5 Grail wars took place.

Kokonoe: Of these five, only two servants have fought in the Grail Wars twice. The first being Gilgamesh, and the second being the King of Knights, Saber.

Junko: I'm sure we all know about the legend of King Arthur right? Well take all you know about King Arthur, and make it a girl!

Kokonoe: Right. Before she was King Arthur she was Artoria Pendragon. After taking a sword out of its stone and becoming king, she went on countless adventures. But after a... *ahem*... "father" "son" confrontation, she started to have doubts about her decision to become king and believed she was undeserving of the title.

Junko: So after finally dying, Artoria joined the 4th and 5th grail wars as Saber.

Kokonoe: Granted, she only got into the fifth after failing the fourth. Still, she's anything but a useless servant. After all, she's incredibly strong

Junko: According to her stats, her strength is at level B, but she can still hold her own against strength level A Hercules, who can destroy entire mountains.

Kokonoe: She can also match that of Caster Medea, who once lifted an entire city.

Junko: She's also very durable.

Junko: She survived hits from Hercules and even got rag-dolled by him. She's also survived encounters with the likes of Lancer Cu Chulainn and Archer Gilgamesh, who are no pushovers. I mean, Gilgamesh himself has a sword that can spit in the face of reality!

Kokonoe: She's also incredibly fast.

Kokonoe: She can move way past the speed of sound with ease and has managed to dodge attacks from similarly swift opponents.

Junko: She's on par with Rider Iskandar, who once managed to avoid an Excalibur blast. Excalibur has been stated to be made of light multiple times, but more on that later.

Kokonoe: She's also highly intelligent.

Kokonoe: She has an incredibly keen mind that helps her predict and instinctively choose the correct path in a battle. Basically akin to precognition.

Junko: And thanks to being a servant, she goes by Servant Psychology.

Junko: Thanks to being a servant, Saber doesn't need to worry about food or sleep. They also don't need to worry about lack of oxygen and are resistant to powerful poisons and mind control.

Kokonoe: And as a servant, she can see, interact, harm, and even kill ghosts, souls, and non-existent beings.

Junko: Oh, and each Servant has a Noble Phantasm.

Kokonoe: A Nobel Phantasm is an ability given to a servant that represents said spirits life before their death. And Saber's Noble Phantasm specifically has three parts to it.

Junko: The first being the Sword of Promised Victory... say it with me now... EX... CALIBUR!!!

*Junko tried removing the sword from the stone but it didn't budge*

Junko: Aww...

Kokonoe: This sword is known for being the strongest holy sword and Saber's most famous and powerful Noble Phantasm.

Junko: It is a Divine Construct

Kokonoe: Well more specifically, it is a "Last Phantasm," one of the ultimate weapons built by the gods... or, in this case, it's the crystallization of humanity's wishes forged by the planet itself.

Junko: When using this, Saber can charge an immense amount of holy energy and light into her blade, raising it above her head. She then swings her sword downwards, causing a torrent of light and pure magic energy to cleave through the earth and can utterly vaporize opponents.

Kokonoe: The next part of it is the Bounded Field of the Wind King: Invisible Air.

Junko: Basically Excalibur's sheathe, a mysterious wind that hides its true identity, preventing other Servants from identifying her.

Kokonoe: It is a bounded field, presumably created by Merlin. The powerful winds around the blade distort light, rendering Excalibur completely invisible and its shape near-impossible to discern, keeping her opponents confused and unable to properly gauge its size and length, or even what kind of weapon it is. Once they figure it out, however, it becomes useless in this regard.

Junko: It takes on Excalibur's sharp edge, and Saber can use it to form a defensive wall of wind large enough to envelop a building. Once the barrier is released, the compressed wind surges around her and can be released as a single-shot weapon, known as Strike Air: Hammer of the Wind King. Oh, Artoria can also use Invisible Air to propel herself forwards at greater speeds.

Kokonoe: And last but not least, The Everdistant Utopia: Avalon.

Kokonoe: Excalibur's scabbard, a Divine Construct of the same name. Passively, Avalon bestows immortality and regeneration upon its wielder by not having them age and granting them a huge healing factor.

Junko: Yeah, but its real power is in its active use as an "absolute defense." It shields Artoria in Avalon, the land of the fairies, the unreachable utopia that she strived to reach in life. It dissipates into magical particles and becomes a "portable fortress" that blocks off any interference, even up to the sixth dimension. It is on the level of true magic, and not even the Five Magics can bypass the barrier.

Kokonoe: And now that we're done talking about her Noble Phantasm, we can talk about her skills as a Saber. Starting with her passive skills.

Junko: Let's start with her magic resistance.

Junko: An innate ability that grants protection against magical effects. Unlike the Resistance effect that merely rejects Magical Energy, this ability cancels the spells altogether.

Kokonoe: Due to possessing the blood of dragons, Saber has a stellar A-Rank in this ability, rendering her virtually invulnerable to all modern magi's spells and even of Caster's from the Age of Gods.

Junko: This also applies to indirect magic attacks, such as magical hypnosis, petrification, and spatial manipulation.

Kokonoe: Next is her Rider skill.

Kokonoe: This is the ability to ride mounts. Saber is proficient in this ability due to riding horses throughout her life, resulting in B rank Riding and allowing her to ride practically any horse or modern vehicle with complete control, even things from far beyond her time such as the heavily modified Yamaha V-Max Kiritsugu customized for her though due to having lived in the Age of Man, this does not extend to mounts such as those under the Phantasmal species

Junko: But, when riding the custom bike, Kiritsugu, her Riding rank rises to A, further increasing her ability to ride all known regular mounts and vehicles but still falling short to be able to ride those of the Divine and Phantasmal species.

Kokonoe: When using said bike and enhancing it with Mana, which is basically magical energy, she was able to keep pace with Rider's chariot and easily dodges the latter's attacks while veering through traffic, reading the airflow to allow her to accomplish such feats with her eyes closed.

Junko: Now we can talk about her more active skills.

Junko: I guess we can start with her charisma.

Junko: This is basically a natural talent to command armies, which increases the ability of allies during battle. Saber is ranked B in this category.

Kokonoe: After that is her Mana Burst.

Kokonoe: A skill that allows for an increase in performance by infusing one's weapons and body with magical energy, for both defensive and offensive purposes, effectively recreating the effects of a jet burst. Saber uses this skill mainly for her sword techniques, defense, and high-speed movement, propelling herself across the battlefield at high speeds while reinforcing her entire body with magical energy.

Junko: With A-rank, even a stick can become a great weapon. Due to this and with her own innate high magical capacity, she can even fight off and take Berserker's blows, though ultimately would lose due to Shirou's inability to provide her with sufficient mana. Oh right, Shirou is Saber's master by the way, and he's your everyday anime protagonist filled with love, hope, and all that boring stuff.

Kokonoe: Anyway, last but not least is her instinct.

Kokonoe: This grants the power to "feel" the most favorable developments for oneself during battle.

Junko: Saber is ranked A in this too, granting her that sixth sense precognition we mentioned earlier. This allowed her to avoid a death blow from Cu's Gae Bolg as well as Sasaki Koujirou's Tsubame Gaeshi and finding an opening in their second encounter, in addition to halving the hindrance that visual and auditory obstructions would generally provide.

Kokonoe: And now that we got all that out of the way, we should get to her weaknesses.

Kokonoe: Like all servants, Saber is dependent on Mana, which is given to her by whoever is her master.

Junko: Yeah, plus if her master dies, she will too. Also, Avalon can't regenerate her brain when using its passive function.

Kokonoe: Saber is very stubborn and headstrong, and Anti-Dragon weapons do more damage to her than normal, but at the end of the day she is king, and anyone who serves her can see why.

Saber: I ask of you... are you my master?
