Kokonoe: 660 years ago, the Kusanagi and Yasakani clans were once allies. However, thanks to a terrible misunderstanding, the Yasakani struck a blood pact with a God named Orochi. Since then, the clan has raged a generation long grudge which continues to this day, with Iori Yagami and the highschool delinquent, Kyo Kusanagi.

Junko: What's so special about this kid? Well, he's none other than the heir to his clan and possess the Kusanagi flames!

Kokonoe: His families legendary power, Kyo uses this in conjunction with his normal strikes to inflict further damage.

Junko: Kyo can send trails of fire across the ground, summon flaming pillars, set himself ablaze, or even spread fire throughout the air.

Kokonoe: His flames are potent enough to keep Kyo fighting against Kula, a girl whose ice can reach -200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Junko: Kyo's fighting style is a martial arts known as Kusanagi-ryu Kobujutsu. Best described as a mix of Japanese Karate and Chinese Kung-Fu, this fighting style implements kicks, shoulder tosses, and elbow strikes.

Kokonoe: He also knows Kenpo, a system of self-defense focused on pragmatism and stand-up martial arts.

Junko: He also has multiple techniques.

Junko: Like the 100-Shiki Oniyaki, where he hits you with a leaping, flaming uppercut. This works great as an anti-air move and barrier for some projectiles.

Kokonoe: There's also the 108-Shiki Yamibarai, in which he sends a traveling fire trail that explodes in an enemies face. Depending on what Kyo wants to do, the trail can block an incoming projectile or sweep under it in order to nail the opponent.

Junko: Then there's the 101-Shiki Oboroguruma, which is a lunging spin kick that leads to two other kicks.

Kokonoe: Next up is the 212-Shiki Kototsuki You, in which Kyo runs forward and grabs his opponent by the throat before blowing them up with his hand.

Junko: After that is the 75-Shiki Kai, where Kyo performs a lunging upwards kick followed by another upwards kick.

Kokonoe: Then there's the Ura 108-Shiki Orochinagi, a move where Kyo charges up flames before releasing a blanket of fire that explodes in the opponents face. This move can shield Kyo from more powerful attacks, and when fully charged, Kyo's entire body is set ablaze.

Junko: And, one of his ultimate techniques, Ura 121-Shiki Ama-No-Murakumo. This move has Kyo send a small blaze across a arena that acts as a beacon for a large row of flame pillars to follow.

Kokonoe: Of course, Kyo would gain a bit more techniques in later games.

Kokonoe: Like the R.E.D. Kick, where Kyo jumps into the air and lands a guillotine of a kick, driving the tip of his foot into his opponents skull like a spike.

Junko: There's also his Aragami-Konokizu-Yanosabi. This move is basically a three hit combo enhanced by flames. It starts with a flaming hook that leads into an uppercut. Said uppercut can send his opponent flying unless Kyo decides to bring the enemy back down with his elbow.

Kokonoe: Aragami-Konokizu-Nanase is the same, except it ends with a flaming kick instead.

Junko: Aragami-Yanosabi-Migari Ugachi is another combo of his. This one starts with a hook and is followed up with an elbow to the ground before ending it with a flaming ground pound.

Kokonoe: Aragami-Yanosabi-Nanase is the same thing, except ending with a flaming kick.

Junko: What's with this guy and flaming kicks?

Kokonoe: After that we have Dokukami-Tumiyomi-Batsuyomi-Oniyaki, another three hit combo. This starts with a powerful hook followed by an equally damaging backhand fist and ended by a 100-Shiki Oniyaki.

Junko: Then there's the 182 Shiki, where Kyo charges up energy into his fist before lunging forward and unleashing an explosive punch to the enemy. The best part is, Kyo doesn't need the blow to connect for it to work, so he can launch the energy early just to catch his opponent off guard.

Kokonoe: After that is the Saishu Kessen Ougi: MU-Shiki. Where Kyo quickly powers up and summons a large pillar of fire before unleashing a quick combo that ignites his opponent. This move is also capable of plowing through several attacks while shielding Kyo from damage.

Junko: And finally, his newest ultimate technique, Saishu Kessen Ougi: Totsuka. This move has Kyo show a small spark in his hand before essentially covering the entire area in a blanket of fire. Afterwards, the enemy will be wrapped in a large barrier of fire.

Kokonoe: Of course, all this power would be meaningless if he wasn't physically capable.

Junko: Kyo is incredibly strong. He can match Iori in combat, and can take on people who can destroy entire buildings with ease.

Kokonoe: Kyo can also be scaled to Terry Bogard, who can destroy a forest.

Junko: Kyo is fast too. Capable of dodging light speed attacks and even surpassed the speed of Maxima, a giant of a man capable of thinking twice the speed of a normal human.

Kokonoe: Kyo is also incredibly durable. He sustained minor injuries in his confrontation with Goenitz, who can summon tornadoes and gales of pressurized wind.

Junko: He was even able to marathon against a team of three fighters infused with Orochi's power before facing Orochi himself!

Kokonoe: This feat is even more impressive considering Orochi can summon powerful beams and pillars of energy, a holy light capable of damaging anyone within a large proximity, and rip out a person's soul and destroy it, a move Kyo took at point blank in battle.

Junko: Yeah, but despite all his power, Kyo isn't unbeatable.

Kokonoe: Right. Kyo doesn't like  using effort, and because of this, he lacks proper training. Meaning his skills are not as crisp as they should be. He also has a generally naive and hot-blooded personality that gets him into trouble.

Junko: He also can't change flames that he himself didn't create. But still, when it comes to fighting, playing electric guitar, riding his motorcycle, or writing poetry.... well... not writing poetry, but when it comes to the others, nobody's flames shine brighter than Kyo Kusanagi.
