Baiken slices into Death Battle
Name: Baiken
Origin: Guilty Gear
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown, assumed to be quite elderly
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 99 Ibs
Classification: Human, Samurai
Junko: Well, the voters made their picks and the one they chose to substitute Kokenoe is...
Litchi: Huh? Me?
Junko: By a landslide. Seriously, and with no love for Bullet. The I guess your boobs are bigger.
Litchi: W-What does that have a do with anything?! *sigh* Let's just get this over with...
Junko: Right. So, let's take a quick look into the future. All the way to 2074, which is 54 years from now. Japan was basically annihilated by what are known as gears.
Litchi: Among the people getting slaughtered was a very young girl named Baiken.
Junko: Bacon?
Litchi: Um, no. Anyway, after getting her arm ripped off, her eye gouged out, and forced to watch the bloody death of her friends and family, Baiken trained in order to avenge the Japanese by killing the gears and the one who made them, That Man.
Junko: Which man? There's no man here.
Litchi: Well...
Junko: But it's not like it matters. She's still super bad ass. You'd think having one arm would hold you back, but not her. She's still as dangerous as ever. Especially with her trusty katana.
Litchi: Right. This blade is strong enough to cut most gears with ease and durable enough to hold up in multiple clashes with Thunderseal, a blade charged with electricity. The only visible damage it's taken was a light chip after failing to cut Dizzy. It was also implied by Slayer himself that the blade is sentient, with a strong desire for bloodshed.
Junko: I approve! And with that, she also has her Demon Tools. A group of tools Baiken somehow hides within the sleeve of her severed arm. These tools consist of, a Japanese mace.
Junko: A federal canon.
Junko: A bladed fan.
Junko: A chain rope.
Junko: A claw.
Junko: A spear.
Junko: And much more.
Litchi: She can also manipulate Ki.
Litchi: In doing so, she can fire massive short-range energy blasts.
Junko: She can even use magic to summon a tatami mat near her.
Junko: Once she stomps on it, she can send any nearby opponent flying. It can also be used in the air, but the mat will almost immediately fall down due to gravity.
Litchi: Going back to weapons, Baiken has two for aerial opponents. The first is Yoshijin.
Litchi: An anchor Baiken thrusts to the ground so hard it jumps straight up immediately. The next is Zakuro.
Litchi: A giant bladed pinwheel that spins several times, skewering anyone who gets near her. Though she can only use it diagonally.
Junko: She also has Yashagatana.
Junko: A literal shotgun she pulls out her sleeve.
Litchi: She can also unleash a pink energy.
Litchi: She can cloak her blade with this energy or stomp her foot to unleash it from the ground in the form of a small pillar.
Junko: She also has a move called Baku.
Litchi: To use this, Baiken pauses for a brief moment before smacking the opponent with one of three different types of kanji, each having a different effect.
Junko: Sakura (桜) prevents them from dashing, backdashing, or jumping. Tsuki (月) makes them enter a counter-hit state that increases the amount of damage they receive. And Tsuru (鶴) prevents them from blocking Baiken’s next attack.
Litchi: Each effect lasts for 14 seconds.
Junko: And now that we're done with the common folk, let's get to her big guns. Her two Overdrives. The first one being Tsurane Zanzuwatashi.
Junko: In which Baiken stomps on the ground before delivering an underhanded upward slash and a low sweeping slash. She then swings her blade through the air as the image of a moon bearing the kanji for Heaven, Earth, and man suddenly appears. Once it appears in full, she finishes with a final, energy-charged slash!
Litchi: Then there's Metsuda Kushoudou.
Litchi: Where Baiken turns around, her back facing the opponent as she fires off several grappling hooks that slam them into the air and latch onto an object behind them. She then reels herself forward, performing an iaijutsu quickdraw slash on the airborne opponent.
Junko: And finally onto her Instant kill!
Junko: Baiken cuts through the opponent as they teleport inside of a washitsu house. The sliding doors then close behind her and the opponent. After a fish hops through the garden's pond, the doors become splattered in the opponent's blood as both the house and its surroundings are sliced in half. Baiken then sits cross-legged and lights her pipe like a badass!
Litchi: Interestingly, some of Baiken's dialogue after completing this move suggests that the opponent is still alive, though it's likely they've been left heavily injured.
Junko: It doesn't matter though. This just makes it easier for her to finish her opponent off. Still, I guess we should get into her weaknesses.
Litchi: Right. Baiken does have an extremely sort fuse and can be somewhat stubborn. Her fighting style also heavily relies on combos and focuses on defense rather than offense.
Junko: She also doesn't have many ranged options. It doesn't help that some of her demon tools like the grappling hook, claw, or mace, can be rendered useless in certain environments. Oh yeah, she also suffers PTSD over Japan's destruction.
Litchi: Still, despite her weaknesses, Baiken will continue to roam the earth until she brings That Man to his knees.
Junko: ... What man?
Baiken: Winning and losing doesn't mean a thing. I'll survive, and I'll keep fighting... Until I find That Man.
