Covers Ed. (Kind of an A/N)

Okay, so I've had a lot of people asking me recently how I make my covers and for some tips. So here they are. I honestly could go on and on about my style and technics, but I'll make it brief

1. Finding a picture/background

The picture is the eye catcher. You wan something that gets people interested, but also gives a little piece of your story. And if you want to make a good cover, you've got to have your eye out for two types of pictures: Photographic and Spacious. A spacious cover represents your story less, but gives you more space to write. A photographic picture doesn't give you as much text room, but allows readers to understand a little more

2. Text

A. Fonts

Fonts are literally so good! They are super important!!! They show how good of quality your story is and what kind of story it is. Example: A more formal font would be used more for a serious or romance book. Here are my preferences for certain fonts:

Simple fonts are used in almost all of my covers. They are basic but awesome!

Formal fonts. Used in more serious or romantic book covers . And as you can see, I have only found a few that I like.

Handwriting fonts. Blegghhh.  Definitely my least favorite. I try to stay away from them mostly.

And yes, I have used chalk duster, even though it's on th no no list. I don't like it, but every once in a while, I need it.

Finally, fun fonts. Ones that I use in more bright, fun covers

Now, lets talk for combination. Combining differ at fonts looks awesome, and shows that there are different moods to your book. And just about all the time, it's a combination of simple and formal fonts

B. text color

Color. Very hard sometimes. Okay. I admit, sometimes I cringe at people's poor text color choices. Lets start with #1

#1:you want to pick a color that brings out something in the picture. Not some random colt that you like. Btw, black or white is always the right way to go with color. So find a bright color in the picture that you can bring out by coloring the font that way

#2: Black and white

You can never be wrong the picture is black and white. Just about any color works. Red is my personal favorite though

Okay, that's it for text. The last thing should actually be up at the beginning with spacious and photographic but whatever. Here are examples of the two types of photo put with fonts. "Off" the picture is how you'd set up a picture that is spacious. "On" is a set up of photographic pictures , with the font on the picture

Okay! That's all I have! But if you have any questions, comment or message me. I could talk forever about cover making. Anyway, I hope this helped someone!!!!!
